PEEL REGION, SOUTH WEST WA - SMALL ANIMAL
Full Time Vet
Hi there!
I’m Dr Susan and I have owned the Pinjarra Veterinary Hospital for the last 10 years.
I decided I was going to be a Vet when I was 5 years old. An odd decision given that I didn’t have any pets growing up (not even a goldfish!).
The path to Veterinary Medicine was far from straight for me but my driven and focused nature got me there… Not to mention all around the country working with all animals and clinics, great and small.
After 21 years in the industry the thing I HATE the most about it is the level of negativity that seems to surround it. It seems like being a Vet is nothing but ‘doom and gloom’…
The good news is that from my experience it doesn’t have to be that way. Granted some days are harder than others, but on the whole, we work in an incredible industry, doing incredible things and have the opportunity to make a real difference.
Being a Veterinarian is an AMAZING career and if you believe that too then joining our team might just be the next best step for you!
Why else might you consider Pinjarra Veterinary Hospital the next step in your career...?
- “We provide a safe space rather than a judgemental place…”
- It is our job to help our clients make the best decisions for their pets by being a trusted source of information that is delivered without judgement… always.
- It is our job to be an inclusive and supportive team for each other so we can learn and grow into the best versions of ourselves.
- “We are life long learners…”
- I have a love of learning and improving my skills. I recently completed a course to level up my skills for eye cases and surgery (not to mention having a coach for the last 7 years helping with the business stuff they don’t teach you)!
- If you are on our team you are encouraged to learn and explore your areas of interest and upskill in things that truly excite you.
- “Freedom and Flexibility are good F words..!”
- As a Mum with 3 kids, a business owner and a Vet I understand that life often feels like the juggling act in a three-ring circus!
- I have always promoted the need for freedom and flexibility both inside and outside of work. It makes you a better Vet and a better person!
So, if this sounds more and more like a team you would love to be a part of and…
- You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience up your sleeve…
- You take pride in being the best you can be…
- You’d like to settle into a career where you are well supported (both with growth opportunities and a support crew for the day to day) and…
- You can confidently navigate the cases when you don’t have all the answers…
...then I would love to chat with you.
I’m not asking for a CV or fancy cover letter. I want to get to know the real you and what it is you are looking for as the next step in your career.
Ideally you are able to work full time or close to full time hours….
And whilst money apparently doesn’t buy you happiness you will be well compensated based on your skills, experience and the value you bring.
If you would love to have a chat about whether this might be a fit please email on susan@pinjarravets.com.au or send a text to 0407667282 and we can go from there.

New Position
POSITION – Full time/Part-time/Casual veterinarian
CANDIDATE – Qualified veterinarian. New or recent graduates considered
TYPE OF PRACTICE – 100% small animal (with ~25-33% avian seen by owner)
LOCATION – Northern suburbs approximately 15 minutes from CBD
About us
Woodvale Park veterinary hospital is an independent, small, close-knit team based in north Perth. We are bound by our love of animals and the people who consider them their family. The practice owner comes from an academic and specialist background and thus values continuing education and the highest standards of care.
Our motto is ‘your pets are our pets’ and while this may seem cliché it is how we genuinely feel. Our clients appreciate that we care deeply for their pets and as a result we tend to attract people who are kind, compassionate animal lovers just like us!
Additionally, we uphold a commitment to treating each member of the team with the respect, patience and dignity they deserve and expect the same of any new additions. The clinic is small but well-equipped. We have digital radiology (to include dental rads), ultrasound, in-house CBC, biochemistry, anaesthetic monitor with BP, SpO2, ECG, capnograph and a dedicated sterile theatre. We have a visiting orthopaedic surgeon. Most cytology, including Gram’s stain, is performed in-house. We use EzyVet as our software which is admittedly not easy but does allow remote access so you can check in prior to arrival to plan your day. Check us out on Facebook, Instagram or our website - www.woodvaleparkvet.com.au - to get a better sense of us.

About you
We are looking for an exceptional veterinarian with:
- A genuine interest in the latest evidence based medicine and surgery – essentially ‘a vet nerd’
- An understanding of the importance of developing and maintaining good client relationships - this means being personable, friendly and compassionate. We’ve yet to have any patients present without humans in tow!
- A drive to continually build on their veterinary knowledge through participation in continuing education
- A commitment to contribute to and foster a happy, healthy and collegiate work environment (it’s important for all of us to enjoy coming to work!) - we will not tolerate bullying, harassment or patronizing behaviour!
- A robust sense of humour is a must - we like to have fun when appropriate whilst working
- There are quite a lot of birds seen so if the potential candidate had an interest in avian medicine and surgery that would be viewed favourably (not mandatory)
- The most common surgical procedure performed is dentals so an interest in or at least willingness to perform dentals would be viewed favourably (not mandatory)
About the role
- New or recent graduates – this role would entail ~30-35hrs per week of staggered (AM and PM) shifts with practice owner and other associate veterinarian – contingent on competency there will be some degree of sole charge though only after the applicant feels confident in their abilities
- Experienced applicants – role would involve 1-2 days per week (10-20 hours per week)
- Wide and varied case load with clinical freedom to work up your own cases
- Weekday hours M-F 9:00am – 7:00pm, SAT 9:00-3:00pm
Our offer
- Permanent part-time, full time or casual employment
- A competitive salary above award, commensurate with experience
- Flexibility in rostered days and hours
