"I have worked at this clinic since graduating from university at the end of 2019, I am now in my 3rd year out from uni. Since starting here, my skillset has dramatically improved as we have a varied and exciting case load. As our closest referral hospital is over 5 hours away, we have the opportunity to do complex work ups and surgeries and advanced emergency medicine. There is a good mixture of large and small animal work, as we see goats, sheep, alpacas, horses, cows, pocket pets, dogs and cats. Being able to work in a rural setting has been rewarding and you do feel like a vital part of the community.
I have been challenged to improve as a vet, however, have always had support and someone to call, no matter the time or day. The team is young, fun and progressive. The nurses are supportive and have excellent skills to assist us vets. The management of the clinic is supportive and constantly finding ways to improve working conditions and equipment for our team. The salary is more than competitive, especially being a rural clinic. I would recommend this clinic as a great workplace for someone who is interested in working in a mixed rural setting with up to date protocols, salaries and equipment"
Feedback from Murdoch 2019, former recent employee
"The practice offers a great working environment. The employers are understanding and flexible and value work-life balance. The staff all get on really well and help each other when needed. We are encouraged to take our study leave each year. I have lived in the area for the past four years, and the location of the practice is great. It is very relaxed, and you can go to the beach often. I would recommend the practice to other vets."

PINJARRA, PEEL REGION - SMALL ANIMAL New Position
Hi there! I’m Dr Susan and I have owned the Pinjarra Veterinary Hospital for the last 10 years.
I decided I was going to be a Vet when I was 5 years old. An odd decision given that I didn’t have any pets growing up (not even a goldfish!). The path to Veterinary Medicine was far from straight for me but my driven and focused nature got me there…Not to mention all around the country working with animals and clinics great and small.
After 21 years in the industry the thing I HATE the most about it is the level of negativity that seems to surround it. It seems like being a Vet is nothing but ‘doom and gloom’…
The good news is that from my experience it doesn’t have to be that way. Granted some days are harder than others, but on the whole, we work in an incredible industry, doing incredible things and have the opportunity to make a real difference.
Being a Veterinarian is an AMAZING career and if you believe that too then joining our team might just be the next best step for you!
Why else might you consider Pinjarra Veterinary Hospital the next step in your career...?
“We provide a safe space rather than a judgemental place…”
It is our job to help our clients make the best decisions for their pets by being a trusted source of information that is delivered without judgement… always.
It is our job to be an inclusive and supportive team for each other so we can learn and grow into the best versions of ourselves.
“We are life long learners…”
I have a love of learning and improving my skills. I recently completed a course to level up my skills for eye cases and surgery (not to mention having a coach for the last 7 years helping with the business stuff they don’t teach you)!
If you are on our team you are encouraged to learn and explore your areas of interest and upskill in things that truly excite you.
“Freedom and Flexibility are good F words..!”
As a Mum with 3 kids, a business owner and a Vet I understand that life often feels like the juggling act in a three-ring circus!
I have always promoted the need for freedom and flexibility both inside and outside of work. It makes you a better Vet and a better person!
So, if this sounds more and more like a team you would love to be a part of and…
- You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience up your sleeve…
- You take pride in being the best you can be…
- You’d like to settle into a career where you are well supported (both with growth opportunities and a support crew for the day to day) and…
- You can confidently navigate the cases when you don’t have all the answers…
Then I would love to chat with you.
I’m not asking for a CV or fancy cover letter. I want to get to know the real you and what it is you are looking for as the next step in your career.
Ideally you are able to work full time or close to full time hours….
And whilst money apparently doesn’t buy you happiness you will be well compensated based on your skills, experience and the value you bring.
If you would love to have a chat about whether this might be a fit please email on susan@pinjarravets.com.au or send a text to 0407 667 282 and we can go from there.

WANNEROO, NORTHERN PERTH - SMALL ANIMAL
Why would I come and work for Wanneroo Veterinary Hospital?
As I sat down to write this ad, I thought about the things that have been important to me when I’ve considered a job position as a Vet. Having had several jobs over 25 years myself, I realise that I have certain criteria that I aim to satisfy when considering a role as a Veterinarian.
- I like to have tons of fabulous support around me in well-trained and motivated nursing and reception staff.
- I like to have the space to practice high quality veterinary medicine without feeling like I have to hit my K.P.I.s.
- I like to have tons of experience around me so I can bounce ideas off my colleagues.
- I like to build relationships with my clients, establishing relationships that last for years – sometimes spanning the life of multiple pets.
- I like to have the clinical equipment needed to practice great medicine and surgery and to feel that I can really stretch myself professionally, as far as I’d like to go.
- I like to have the permission to refer tricky cases to specialists to achieve the best outcome for my patients, without the pressure of keeping every case “in-house”.
- I like to be fairly and generously remunerated for an honest day’s work.
- I like to have opportunities to receive regular and positive feedback from my employers and colleagues so I can grow.
- I like to work, and I like to have a laugh.
- I like to enjoy being a vet.
I truly feel that our team of 8 experienced vets, 12 dedicated nurses and our wonderful management team have created a work place that quietly yet confidently satisfies those aims.
If any or all of my Happy Workplace Wish-List resonates with you, I’d welcome you to get in touch, as we are looking for such an individual to join us.
- We are looking for an experienced vet – We are looking for someone that could do 3 or 4 days per week - the hours in the vicinity of 27 - 36 hours per week, but we would be interested in speaking with someone that could do slightly more, or slightly less.
- We are looking for someone that likes a bit of surgery, or a lot. Routine soft tissue, neuters and dentistry is a must, but orthopaedic interest is a bonus.
- We are looking for someone that enjoys their consulting too. We seek an all-rounder, but will consider those vets that have a penchant for either consulting or surgery.
- We are looking for someone that gets on with the job.
- We are looking for someone that treats our clients, our team and themselves with respect.
We offer a generous salary (paid hourly) equivalent to $120,000 to $150,000 plus super Pro-rata, based on experience and proficiency.
We support and encourage Continuing Professional Development, with an open mind to all courses and further study. If it benefits you and it benefits the practice, we will pay for it.
We offer an environment for growth and development.
We offer a cracking team of professionals united in their desire to get the best outcomes for their patients.
If this speaks to you, send me (Steve) a confidential cover letter and CV to: admin@wanneroovet.com.au
We look forward to hearing from you.
