As well as our bricks and mortar clinic - Moe Veterinary Centre (MVC) - in Moe (1.5-hour drive from Melbourne CBD and 1 hour from both beaches and snow fields) we operate a house call service via our Gippsland Mobile Vets (GMV) business. Our vets enjoy the variety of covering shifts across both businesses.

ALBURY-WODONGA - SMALL ANIMALS
Seeking a FT veterinarian to join our team. NEW or RECENT graduate, or experienced veterinarian who we can support and shares our values.
Four day working week
Team consulting for optimal support
$80,000 for New graduate ++ for experience by negotiation.
We are very keen for a new or recent graduate veterinarian to join our team on a full-time basis. We would also welcome an experienced vet to join our team.
One of the things that are most important to us at our hospital is to provide a supportive and encouraging workplace, where you are challenged to work just outside your comfort zone. This is called the 'growth zone'. We operate in this zone because we know we can support you - and you will experience success and joy, and love coming to work as much as we do.
A bit about us:
We are a relatively young hospital, just celebrating our 4th birthday. We have enjoyed a welcomed response from the community and have a well-established and lovely client base. We have 4 senior vets with different areas of expertise, who complement each other very well. We operate on a 2 vets per day basis currently (which would increase when you join us) - so you will always have a senior vet working alongside you.
We start each day off with a 'morning huddle', where all team members have a look at the schedule for the day, share a daily win we have had and ensure clarity in everyone’s roles for that day. Currently we have rostered surgery days where you will do surgery in the morning and consult in the afternoon and consulting days. When you join us and are comfortable, we have the capacity to increase surgery to 2 vets per day as we have separate dog and cat surgery rooms. Our surgery caseload is varied, and we have lots of opportunity for routine desexings to cement your surgery skills for new or recent graduates, through to more complicated soft tissue surgery. We currently do not have a vet who is skilled in orthopaedics and would welcome these skills into our team. We do all vet work exclusively for local rescue, Albury Wodonga Animal Rescue, which is our sense of community and something our whole team enjoy doing.
Our consults are mostly 30 minutes, giving you time to get to know clients, do a thorough examination and discuss treatment plans. We have an experienced support team, including a dedicated receptionist, senior nurses and trainee nurses. We support the nursing team's growth by getting them to do as much as they can so you can focus on vet work.
Vets work a 4-day week, 8am-6pm and have 1 rostered day off. After hours is evenly shared (when you're ready) – currently each vet does one full week per month on call (including the weekend). Call outs workload is manageable, and shared amongst the vets. New grads would join the after-hours roster after 6 months. There will always be a mentor vet available to assist you. Saturdays we are open 9-1 so there is a short consulting shift done by our vets on a rotational basis.
A little bit about you:
We are looking for someone who has:
- Great people presence, who can connect and relate to clients
- Time efficiency
- Attention to detail
- Willing to teach others
- High EQ – good self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills
A little bit about our hospital
We are well set up and some of our major equipment includes:
- Digital X-ray
- Ultrasound
- Dental equipment, including dental x-ray
- Separate and dedicated dog and cat hospitals, each with own treatment area and surgery
- 3 consulting rooms
- Idexx in house bloods and other routine in house laboratory equipment
We are registered as a Gold ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic and working towards ASAVA accreditation.
We practice hospital excellence and are continually self-evaluating our protocols to ensure best practice is achieved.
Please click here to see photos!
Ongoing CPD and team training:
This is critical for everyone in the team. We advocate for ongoing learning with regular team training and refresher training, practice membership to VIN, Vet Education webinars and ISFM. You will also be supported with a study allowance of $1500 PA and 1 week study leave per year. This comes into effect once you have been with us for 12 months.
We have monthly nurse and vet meetings to ensure smooth flow of hospital procedures and discuss projects we are working on. We hold a Team meeting quarterly where we close the clinic and discuss non-clinical training.
Teaching:
We pride ourselves on being a hospital, that advocates training and teaching, generally hosting veterinary nursing students and vet students where we can. Once you have found your feet, we would love for you to teach others, as teaching is also an amazing confidence building experience and really gets you comfortable with the content.
A little bit about Albury-Wodonga:
The clinic is located in Albury (Lavington) but the area is generally referred to as Albury-Wodonga. Albury being located on the NSW side of the Murray River and twin sister city - Wodonga being located on the Victorian side. Together the area offers great out-of-work lifestyle opportunities, many outdoor places to explore, in winter the snow fields are only an hour or so away. It is a large enough city to have all of your major shops and services, but small enough to still have that country feeling.
You can visit our Facebook page to see some photos of the clinic and get a ‘feel’ for the team - or we welcome you to come and meet the team. We would encourage for you to work with us during final year practice placement if you are graduating this year.
For all enquiries please contact: Dr Sally Whitwell (Veterinarian & Practice Manager) by phone 02 6040 6995 or via email sally.whitwell@hotmail.com
Testimonial from a vet student:
Aimee initially did university practical placement with us but has then come back to do some nursing for experience during the holidays. Here's what she had to say:
"After I completed placement at Dr Jana’s in the summer of 2020, I returned as a nurse both after my placement and in the summer of 21/22. My choice to return was to do with the amazing and supportive team who became like family to me. Each of the vets has been an excellent mentor and all the nurses are incredible to work with. The clinic provides a safe environment to learn and excel and would be the perfect place for a new grad to start their journey"

LARA - SMALL ANIMALS
Guess what? Another clinic needing a veterinarian! Vet 2 Pet is a non-corporate GP small animal only clinic with a mobile service offered daily. One of our full-time vets LOVES this part of the work so this would be rarely required however we have found that the team really enjoy getting out and about. A nurse always accompanies the vets on house-calls meaning we can offer quality in home care. We also see a fair few exotics and natives but again this would be minimal if it’s not ‘your thing’.
As a team we are extremely supportive and collaborative, at the same time we are laid-back and love a joke. Our staff party this year was paintball followed by a bonfire – we don’t take ourselves too seriously! Our focus is on patient care and client relations not KPI’s. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 8am-6pm, no weekends or public holidays and minimal to no overtime! Currently our full-time vets work 4 days a week. We are interested in candidates seeking either part time or full-time work.
We are Located in Lara (15-20 minutes from Geelong CBD, 25-30 minutes from Werribee) on a large block with extensive native gardens. Huge custom-built clinic with all the toys.
If this sounds like you please get in touch. Feel free to call Laura (owner/vet) on 0402 846 210 or email laura.a.schram@gmail.com

BAIRNSDALE, GIPPSLAND - MIXED
Eastwood Vets in Bairnsdale are looking for new vets to join our team. We are a small family owned clinic with a focus on building a supportive and nurturing workplace for our staff to provide quality care to our patients. We welcome applications from experienced vets who can hit the ground running or new graduates, semi retired, vet mums and vets who have been out of the industry for a while and wish to dip a toe back in the water – we love providing a working environment where people can learn and build confidence whether that be as new graduates or re-entering the workforce after a period out of the industry. All you need to bring is a can do attitude and the rest will be history.
Who are we?
Eastwood Vets – not the Ballarat ones, the Bairnsdale ones. We are a reasonably young clinic having been under our current management for four years. Our clinic philosophy is to support our staff and their families to the best of our ability whilst providing quality care to our patients. We have a strong family focus and specialise in providing flexible working conditions to accommodate your needs and provide work-life balance.
Our team consists of three vets, 6 amazing certificate 4 nurses, 2 trainees and a receptionist. We are situated in a purpose built facility with digital xray (smallies and equine), in house bloods and general pathology capabilities, ultrasound (smallies and equine), portable and fixed equine crushes (for your safety), IM3 ‘elite’ dental machine (for your sanity) and plenty of other toys to assist in your diagnostic work ups.
More important stuff to know about working at Eastwood vets
- Awesome café right next door – great coffee, good food, on tap.
- Slow cooker Fridays – Yep, that’s a sit down home cooked lunch every Friday. Ok, so sit down may not always be accurate, but the delicious slow cooked cuisine we enjoy every week makes it a little easier to take the Friday crazies.
- Family friendly – we all have, have had, or want to have young families and we want our families to be a priority. So, while we may not be able to offer “school hours” we are all about compromise so that the important stuff in your life gets the time it deserves
- Work life balance – we love hobbies, we encourage and support hobbies. We work to live, not the other way around and we hope that you are the same. We value doing a good job and we won’t compromise on the quality of care that our patients and clients receive but we also value our own sanity, and we will bend to make sure we all maintain happiness in our workplace and stella mental health.

Where are we
Eastwood, in Bairnsdale…… Google it…. The Travel Victoria website will tell you everything you need to know about the beautiful East Gippsland region that you could learn to call home. There’s lots of stuff here… All the things you need (schools, daycare, kindergarten, pharmacy, café, supermarket, dental and doctors clinics all in the shopping centre next door to the clinic), plus there is lots of fun stuff too (snowfields, beaches, hundreds of sporting clubs across a huge variety of sports, the iconic Gippsland Lakes, all within stone throw from the clinic).
Sensible stuff you probably do need to know:
Whilst we are a mixed general practice we provide a wide range of companion animal and equine services, we currently provide limited farm animal services due to time constraints. We would be happy to accommodate smallies only vets, smallies equine vets very comfortably and welcome anyone with and interest in farm animal practice, but it would take time to grow the caseload in this area. Pay and all conditions are negotiable and are a minimum of 20% above award (for an experienced vet equivalent of $150K per annum for PFT plus after hours). We can assist successful applicants with relocation costs, offer additional leave and provide very comfortable accommodation for any interested applicant during afterhours and initial commencement of employment while you fall in love with us.
Please email applications or call the clinic and speak to Meg.

GOULBURN VALLEY, SHEPPARTON - MIXED OR SMALL ANIMAL - EXPERIENCED OR NEW GRAD
Small or Mixed Animal Vet Opportunity
GV Vets are looking for a full-time associate vet to join our team in Shepparton. If you're interested in joining a great group of people, in a family owned and operated clinic, please read on.
A few words to describe the values we consider important at GV Vets: Work-life balance, kindness, laughter, family, compassion, massages at work, exceptional service, professionalism, supportive, home baked treats in the tearoom.
We are proud to be Shepparton’s only locally owned and operated clinic, we are advertising for an additional vet for a couple of reasons, one being there's something in the water here and two of our legendary veterinary team have fallen pregnant. The other being that we are renovating our cottage style clinic to grow and improve our hospital and consulting space.
Our renovation plans include a dedicated cat waiting area, a dental treatment room, a comfortable grieving/euthanasia space as well as an upstairs staff area with spaces for nursing mothers and maybe even a nap at lunchtime when required. We tried to convince the boss to give us a rooftop bar, but we couldn't quite get it through on the final plans.
Please click here to see photos!
The ideal candidate has a primary focus on small animals and while mixed practice skills would be amazing (particularly cattle) they’re not necessary for you to apply. Experienced vets and new graduates will both be considered for the role. We’re looking for veterinary skills that come with a sense of humour and a great teamwork mindset. Our clinic is busy, but there’s plenty of support available with 9 vets (7 FTE) and 20 support staff, including 10 Cert IV Vet Nurses. Our clinic has all the standard equipment expected of a modern general practice and many of the extra ‘toys’ to allow us to perform a comprehensive in-house work up with efficiency and offer best practice medicine: a combination of IDEXX & Abaxis in-house blood, coagulation, urinalysis & sedivue machines; imaging – portable ultrasound, digital touchscreen radiography, iM3 dental radiography; video otoscope & flexible endoscopes; TonoVet tonometer, electrocautery and separate surgery & dental / procedures rooms allowing dual anaesthetics each with dedicated patient warming and monitoring machines, large animal equipment including bull testing, pregnancy ultrasound, in-house milk culture and blood testing.
We aim for flexibility to find a roster that works for both you and the clinic, for example full time vets can work a four-day week with one regular weekday RDO or shorter shifts of five days a week. We share the weekend and after-hours roster between everyone whilst also providing backup to support you for cases that fall outside of a particular vet's comfort zone. We strongly support continuing education and encourage vets to find and expand their areas of interest with further study, webinars, conferences and clinical practice.
Shepparton is a fantastic place to live, with all the shops, amenities and conveniences of a major regional centre with the luxury of space and country-feel farmland all around. We have a diverse, multicultural, proud and progressive community with fantastic schools and health services. There are many great sporting and cultural opportunities, superb restaurants and cafes, we are close to the river if you're into boating, camping or fishing, there’s great hiking trails and we are close to the ski fields if you like damaging your knees. Going to Melbourne for a gig or footy match or festival is within 2 hours drive.
Comprehensive salary package on offer to the right candidate, including base salary, superannuation, continuing education, after-hours, registrations, memberships and bonus scheme.

WARRNAMBOOL, SOUTH-WEST COAST - SMALL ANIMAL POSITION IN MIXED PRACTICE
Are you looking to escape the city for a more relaxed lifestyle, but are worried you will have to sacrifice your standards of patient care?
At Warrnambool Veterinary, we pride ourselves on our ability to provide high standards of veterinary medicine, because we know that practicing rurally doesn’t mean compromising on patient care.
The Clinic:
We are incredibly proud of our companion animal hospital, which is always growing and adapting to new standards of care, and ensuring we have all of the diagnostic tools a regional clinic could dream of, including digital Xray, dental Xray, ultrasound, endoscope, istat blood gas machines, coagulation, faecal and cytology analysers, CBC/Biochem blood machine and anaesthetic monitoring equipment including blood pressure and ECG.
We have a high case load of both routine and non-routine surgeries and have all the equipment required to perform fracture repairs, TTAs and TPLOs.
For those more difficult cases that require specialist referral or CT imaging, not only are we 2.5hrs from the closest referral hospital, and we are fortunate enough to have a specialist surgeon visit our clinic fortnightly to assist with managing cases locally.
Our Team:
Our family of 50-ish staff enjoy plenty of socialisation, especially with Victoria finally opening up again.
Having fun while delivering a professional and valuable service to our clients is a huge priority, but we also prioritise a work-life balance, and working overtime and beyond clinic hours is not common practice at our clinic.
We know that the industry is challenging, and we want our staff to love their jobs and enjoy their lifestyle.
While we are passionate about primary case management, we also believe that working as a team is the best way to provide patient care, and as a result, you will always have support to manage cases should you need it.

Our Ideal Applicant:
Ideally, we would like an experienced companion animal veterinarian with an interest in surgery.
If you have skills (or a strong interest in further development) in orthopaedic surgery and would like to further develop and expand our orthopaedic service, we will support your continuing education to help further develop your skills – both via external courses and internal access to experienced senior vets.
The Role:
- Our full-time vets work 76 hours over a 9-day fortnight, with additional remuneration for after hours.
- The package includes 4 weeks annual leave, 1 week conference leave and 2 days paid volunteer leave per year.
- We provide AVA membership and pay for Vet Surgeons Board registration.
- We have VIN and CVE membership and Plumbs Drug App provided plus access to an online library including plenty of journals.
- The after-hours roster includes one weekend in 5 and no more than 1 night duty during the week. After hours is supported by Apiam’s tele-triage nurse team who filter, and triage all calls so as to minimise unnecessary vet disturbance.
- The base salary will be dependent on the skills and experience you can bring to our team. For a vet with 5+ years of experience and solid surgery skills, this will be in the range of $100,000 - $130,000 pa + superannuation + a/h remuneration. For advanced skills or specialist qualifications, the salary is negotiable.
Our Town:
Warrnambool is located at the end of the Great Ocean Road, in one of Australia’s most scenic coastal regions.
It has the feel of a big country town but offers all the services and facilities you could hope for, including good schools, a university campus, plenty of sporting and community groups and lots of lovely cafes, bars, and restaurants.
We are only 2 hours from Geelong and 3 hours from Melbourne, so the bright city lights are not far away.
Our team is built on the core values of COLLABORATION, LEADERSHIP, INTEGRITY, ENJOYMENT and DELIVER VALUE. If this seems like the sort of environment you could thrive in, please contact the Apiam People & Culture team at recruitment@apiam.com.au.
