About Us: At Tuggeranong Veterinary Hospital, we promote the joy of pet ownership and cultivate long-term client relationships based on a high standard of care. Recognised as the Vets Central Practice of the Year, we are a progressive and busy hospital, growing by word of mouth with a large team comprising of veterinarians, nurses, animal attendants, and admin.
We are open six days a week (Monday — Friday: 8am — 6:30pm and Saturdays 8am-3pm). Lunch breaks are paid for on unbroken shifts.
The Role: There are opportunities for surgery, ultrasound, dental work, and special interest development. The successful candidate will be supported in a culture of collaboration with our team of Veterinarians and support staff to provide a high standard of patient care.
Our modern, purpose-built 100% small animal hospital includes access to modern equipment such as a Vetstat blood gas analyser, Procyte haematology analyser, digital x-ray, flexible and rigid video endoscopes, dental machine, ECG, doppler ultrasound, pulse oximetry, doppler, and PetMap blood pressure monitors, etc.
Who We Need: We are looking for experienced veterinarians who are able to obtain full Board registration in the ACT. New/recent graduate veterinarians are welcome to apply and will be supported through the Vets Central Graduate Program.

You will be working in our new state of the art purpose-built hospital that’s fully equipped to get you your diagnosis with the latest imaging and diagnostic equipment.
Utilise the full in-house laboratory (CBC, biochemistry, blood gas, coags, sedivue), and IDEXX’s Extended Internal Medical Specialist Consultation Services after hours. We also have ultrasound, digital radiography, endoscopy, 64 slice CT and high field MRI. There’s 3 dedicated surgical suites, 8 consultation rooms, and a dedicated grieving room.
Our emergency department works alongside our specialist surgical, medical, oncology, behaviour, and orthopaedic medicine & rehabilitation departments.
Bonus perks at ARH Canberra also include ample free undercover parking and a snack cupboard always stocked with tea, coffee, biscuits and an array of snacks!
Our emergency department currently operates through the afternoon, evening and overnight period closing at 8am through the week, and is operational 24/7 on weekends and public holidays. We see primary consultations, patients referred from general practice clinics for overnight and ongoing care, and oversee the hospitalised referral department patients after hours.

The Role
The days are varied and interesting covering a range of small animal medicine and surgery, including:
- Client consultations and working with nurses on nurse triage patients
- Basic surgeries but an interest in more advanced surgery is encouraged and welcomed (experienced vet mentor available)
- Dentistry including extractions
- Radiography; including dental (both digital)
- Ultrasonography (ultrasound skills are ideal, but experienced vet mentor available if you want to learn)
- Interpretation of onsite Idexx lab results
There are no afterhours or on call shifts, we work on a rotating roster (38h week) where you will only work 1 in 4 Saturdays.
About you
Necessary qualities the successful Veterinarian will need to possess:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
- Veterinary Degree registerable in the ACT
- Excellent communication skills and presentation
- Warm and Friendly personality with a professional and positive ‘can do’ attitude
- Organised, motivated and efficient with an attention to detail

Looking for a change of pace, with interesting cases and none of the boring stuff?

We are an urgent care clinic, operating in the space between GP and emergency. You will be doing unwell workups including minor procedures (no sterile surgeries), and will have access to ultrasound, digital x-ray, in-house laboratory, tonometer etc. We work closely with the local emergency clinics and GP vets to refer patients to the most appropriate provider.

Every day is something different!
Our shifts are 7pm-10:30pm (although can be a later finish in summer).
While shifts are generally sole charge, supported by an experienced team of nurses, if you are a new or recent graduate (or transitioning back into clinical work) you will be buddied up with one of our experienced vets each shift.
What we are offering:
- $75,000-80,000 salary for approx. 20 hours/week (plus superannuation, annual leave, sick leave etc pro rata)
- $75-100/hour casual rate

Are you passionate about helping Australian wildlife? ACT Wildlife is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon (Level 3) to work 2 days a week or equivalent at our small wildlife consultation clinic in Fyshwick, Canberra.
What We Offer:
- Hourly pay at Level 3 Award rates, and superannuation and leave entitlements.
- Management of all aspects of the operation of the ACT Wildlife consultation clinic
- Opportunity to work independently in a supportive environment with experienced wildlife carers.
- Focus on basic procedures: pain management, wound care, basic diagnostics and triage – no major surgeries required.
- Decision-making guided by the Animal Welfare (Welfare of Native Wildlife – Rescue, Rehabilitation and Release) Mandatory Code of Practice 2023 and compliance with the ACT Wildlife Licence (please request a copy of this if needed)
- This position will liaise with, report to and be guided by the ACT Wildlife Committee
About You:
- Experienced in treating Australian wildlife.
- Able to work autonomously and make ethical decisions, including assessing cases for euthanasia.
- Strong communicator, comfortable collaborating with local vet clinics and wildlife carers.
