MCLAREN VALE, SOUTH OF ADELAIDE - SMALL ANIMALNew Graduates welcome New Position

Full-Time or Part-Time Veterinarian wanted

What are you looking for in your Veterinary career?

Family Pet Vet McLaren Vale is looking for an additional full-time veterinarian to grow its current vet team. Situated 45 minutes from the city on the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula, McLaren Vale is best known for its outstanding wineries, breweries and restaurants. The area is fantastic for families with wide open spaces and great schools but also close to forests and national parks, with amazing beaches a stone’s throw away.

We are part of a progressive team providing gold standard care for our patients. The head veterinarian has a keen interest in soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery so we upgraded our equipment and facilities to accommodate this, adding to our already purpose-built modern facilities. Gold standard dental treatment was also a priority so we made sure we had a great DR dental radiograph suite and dental machinery. Other toys we enjoy to play with include digital x-rays, flexible endoscopes, high-quality ultrasound, Bair huggers, anaesthetic monitors and more. We have a keen interest in building on staff’s special interests to make sure they come to work every day, excited to learn, work and develop skills for the rest of their careers.

About the job:

So, what are you looking for? Do you have an area you would like to develop? Or do you want to do a great job, for 38 hours a week, and have a great life and hobbies outside of work? Even though we see a lot of the standard veterinary consultations we are in a semi-rural area so there is a lot of the weird and wonderful as well. The position is ideally full-time but part-time vets are encouraged to apply.

To apply, please contact us at philliphpearson@gmail.com or call on 08 8323 8522

LONSDALE, ADELAIDE SOUTH - SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

Veterinarian

RSPCA is Australia’s best known and most respected animal welfare organisation that works to prevent cruelty to animals by actively promoting their care and protection, caring for over 9,000 animals in South Australia every year. These sick, injured, or unwanted animals are provided with shelter, food, veterinary care and behaviour modification in a process that results in animals suitable for new homes.

By joining RSPCA South Australia, you will be provided with rewarding opportunities not found in traditional practices including involvement with our Inspectorate function, assisting with the legal prosecution pursuant to the animal welfare legislation. You will also have community involvement in terms of educating and promoting positive animal welfare outcomes including issues such as population control measures. You will have the chance to improve your clinical experience, learn new veterinary skills, and work alongside a friendly small team of highly talented veterinary professionals delivering best-practice care to truly make a difference to animal welfare. You will also work closely with other teams in the shelter on a daily basis to provide advice and expertise to assist with the rehabilitation and rehoming of animals.

Whilst an important part of what we do is desexing, we also have a surgical focus and utilising the latest digital technologies (x ray and ultrasound) to ensure the best possible outcomes for animals in our care.   This role will broaden your exposure to animal welfare, whilst providing the opportunity to utilise and master your surgical and medical skills with a diverse case load.

To be successful in this role, you must hold a Bachelor degree in Veterinary Science or higher and be registered with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of South Australia. Experience is an advantage, however, we will also consider applications from highly motivated new graduates with an interest in working in an animal welfare setting.

This role provides work life balance and can be negotiated on a fulltime, or part time or casual basis. Our Vet Services team service hours are currently 8.30am until 5pm with only occasional weekend work on a roster basis. This role also has little contact with animal owners as majority of the animals are RSPCA animals. We also understand that the foundation for our success is our team and we happily invest in your development and any specialities that they may be interested in pursuing to support your professional growth.

Experienced Comedian Needed… But we will take a Small Animal Vet too!

We are an Independent Small Animal Practice in Strathalbyn SA, and we need a part time experienced Vet to grow our team. Full time hours maybe available, the actual hours and days can be flexible. There will be some sole charge, and some working alongside the other experienced Vets.

There is no after hours, and we are open from 8am-6pm Mon-Fri, 8am until midday on Saturdays. We aim to have our lunch breaks in a winery and eat lots of lollies - we are succeeding at most of those things, just not the lunch location!

We have lots of the usual toys: DR x-ray, inside flushing toilet, ultrasound, in house IDEXX machine, separate cat and dog wards, patient warmer (hot dog), fluid pumps, monitors and more. But, our most important asset is our wonderful team of qualified and studying Vet Nurses who definitely make the Vets life a lot easier.

We are an independent family owned practice where there are no targeted KPI's and we aim to provide a caring but professional service. There are opportunities to develop or rediscover your passion of actually “being” a Vet. Or if you are happy aiming to be the best GP Vet you can be, that is encouraged too.

Please click here to see photos! photos

Strathalbyn is just 50 minutes from Adelaide, and is a growing town, with a strong sporting reputation. There are regular country-style markets, antique shops (one of our google reviewers helpfully commented on our “lovely antiques”). There are beautiful heritage buildings in the historic main streets and you can enjoy brunch at one of the many cafes and restaurants. Or you can take a stroll through the picturesque parklands on the banks of the River Angas to feed the ducks. Strathalbyn is next door to the boutique Langhorne Creek wine region and Fleurieu Peninsula, where you can experience breathtaking beaches or sample the region’s award-winning wine at many of the cellar doors. Our last Christmas show was a party bus with stops at local wineries and Monarto Zoo – a fun time was had by all, especially with the on board entertainment!

Please feel free to email me at rachel@highstreetvet.com if you'd like more information, or to come and have a chat and a look around. We can aim to accommodate a permanent or casual role from just 1 day a fortnight (ideal if you are not sure if you want a new job and to try us out) or up to 38 hours a week. These hours can be spread across 5 days, or condensed into longer days if you prefer. Salary will be above award, this can be discussed and negotiated based on experience, and whether you would like a casual or permanent position.

BLAKEVIEW, NORTHERN ADELAIDE - SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

BLAKES CROSSING VETERINARY SURGERIES

Veterinarian position – part time or full time

Opportunity details
Blakes Crossing Vets are looking for a part-time or full-time qualified Veterinarian to join our team. We are committed to ongoing professional development, high standards of care and a desire for optimal patient outcomes. If you like a dynamic work environment with a wide and varied case load, then we may be the team for you!

We are a privately owned small business of 10 years with a strong focus on family, team, and friendship. Five years ago, a second clinic was opened leading to further growth and a larger team. We are very fortunate to have a strong line-up of support staff; most of our nurses are certificate IV qualified and we also employ veterinary technicians undergoing their university studies. Blakes Crossing Vet and Tiver Road Vet are both located close to the University of Adelaide Roseworthy campus, enabling us to have a number of veterinary science students in our employ. This allows us to mentor, teach (great for CPD!) and help nurture some of our next generation vets. Our clinic is registered with The Centre for Veterinary Education (CVE) and to the Veterinary Information Network (VIN).

Located approximately 40 minutes from the centre of Adelaide, and only 30 minutes from the beautiful Barossa Valley, we are well situated for you to be able to enjoy culture, wine, cuisine, and a great lifestyle. You can choose whether to embrace the rural, relaxed lifestyle or spend more time exploring and enjoying the city.

We are open seven days a week and offer an affordable 24-hour emergency service, which allows us a large and exciting case load, as well as many learning opportunities. Both clinics are well equipped with extensive in-house laboratories, digital radiographs, ultrasound, endoscope, pulse oximetry, pet MAP, modern dental units, dental radiographs, and intravenous fluid pumps. We have separate cat and dog wards, as well as an isolation ward. Reproduction comprises a significant part of our workload and we are a Sires on Ice clinic. We have an extensive laboratory for reproductive work allowing us to collect, analyse, freeze, chill, and store semen. We are proud of our high successful conception rates and delivery rate of viable litters, assisted by intensive progesterone management in-house.

As a team we currently offer orthopaedic, routine, and advanced soft tissues surgeries. Our vision statement is ‘affordable and quality care’. We also are fortunate to have access to specialists as needed, both in house and referral hospitals. Our current team of vets have a varied range of interests including reproduction, BOAS corrective surgeries, ophthalmics (incl. conjunctival grafts, meibomian gland repair, entropion etc), orthopaedics, medicine, behaviour, and exotics. The clinic also offers a range of additional services, including but not limited to boarding, grooming, puppy school (junior and senior) and occasional house calls.

What you need to be successful in this role

What you get from us

We are a knowledgeable, approachable team and pride ourselves on being supportive of all team members. Our days require us to work as a cohesive, efficient team but we aim to balance this with regular food incentives and staff bonding days outside of work.

How to get in touch
If you think we could be the right practice for you, please email lbower@bcvet.com.au or contact Dr Jo Bromley on 0401 887 278 to have a chat about the position.

LONSDALE, ADELAIDE SOUTH - SMALL ANIMAL - CHIEF VET New Position

RSPCA Chief Veterinarian

This is a truly unique opportunity to have a profound impact on animal care and welfare in South Australia. Managing a veterinary team of 16 staff (10.6FTE) caring for over 9,000 animals a year, while acting as lead expert witness in RSPCA’s Animal Welfare Act prosecutions and providing key input into the organisation’s negotiations with government on animal related legislation, the role has a diverse range of high-level responsibilities.

We are looking for a senior, experienced veterinary professional with high level organisational and people management skills, and proven capability in leading an engaged and committed team. A record of driving change through continuous improvement creating an efficient veterinary care operation will be highly regarded.

RSPCA’s vet services provide care for a wide range of animals with a focus on cats, dogs and other small animals. While we currently have a well-resourced clinic with modern diagnostic and surgical equipment, this role will also lead RSPCA’s transition to our new $26 Million Animal Care Campus with a custom-built veterinary centre incorporating South Australia’s first large scale native animal hospital. This major expansion into providing 24/7 veterinary care for wildlife will see another 8,000 animals cared for every year from January 2024.

With no private practice, shelter medicine certainly offers some attractive benefits of less contact with clients and more regular work hours, although some weekend and afterhours work will be required. RSPCA is offering an attractive and competitive remuneration depending on your clinical experience and knowledge. We also understand that the foundation for our success is our team and we happily invest in your development and any specialities that they may be interested in pursuing to support your professional growth.

We offer veterinary work in all its forms including small animal, pocket pets, wildlife, equine (including reproduction), beef cattle and sheep. We do quite a bit of surgery including orthopaedics. We encourage some specialisation in an area that would interest you.

We are incredibly lucky in that our main clinic located in Naracoorte is purpose built and equipped with a dedicated surgery & wet prep area, separate dog and cat wards, isolation ward, IDEXX Laboratory suite, digital x-ray, Ultrasound, and endoscope. Our second clinic is a small, satellite clinic located in Penola which also consists of both small animal and large animal clientele.

We are a 4-5 vet, 7-8 nurse team and offer super flexible working days. There is some afterhours which is usually 1 week night per week and approximately 1 in 4 weekend roster.

We have a highly supportive culture that celebrates diversity of practice, encourages confidence by positive mentorship, does not do KPI’s, puts staff first but recognises the value of our community and how we can best service them.

What we can offer you:

Naracoorte and Penola are located in the beautiful wine region of South Australia with Coonawarra, Wrattonbully and Padthaway all within 30 minutes of our clinics. We are 60 minutes away from the beaches of Robe and Beachport and we are 2.5hrs away from the Grampians. We also boast the spectacular World Heritage Listed Naracoorte Caves which are well worth a visit.
