REDvets Toowoomba Graduate Acceleration Internship

Imagine getting to experience...

Exposure to the day-to-day issues for people and their pets. Develop your consulting skills and confidence when talking to clients.

Get to see more complicated referral surgery cases and the do and do nots of approaching tricky cases.

Build your confidence when dealing with those cases that come rushing through the door in a supported environment which really takes the pressure off.

Our internship gives you the opportunity to work in, learn and experience it all...

It sets you up to know with confidence the direction you wish to take your career...

Here is what our most recent member to join the team has to say...

“Looking towards graduation last November I was hoping to find a vet role that was stimulating, encouraging, supportive with the goal of providing the best patient care. I initially believed these were somewhat unattainable, but I’m beyond pleased to say that’s exactly what I have found at REDvets. I have been presented with the perfect balance between mentoring and independence on both medical and surgical cases, which has provided a steep learning curve in all aspects of being a vet. For the opportunities I’ve been given and the continued support from all the senior vets, nurses and other team members I am extremely grateful.”

BRISBANE - PRIMARY CARE INTERNSHIP FOR VET WITH SOME EXPERIENCE New Graduates welcome

Full time Primary Care Veterinary position – open to New Graduate Vets or experienced Vets with the chance to learn Ultrasound skills, Body and Cardiac, Advanced Dental Procedures and full Medical condition workups.

Centenary Vets is an incredibly well-equipped Primary Care Hospital. We have grown to 9 Vets (4 full-time, 5 part-time). We staff ourselves well with 4-5 Vets per day with 7-10 procedures performed daily.

Our driving philosophy is to Improve Vets work conditions in areas like remuneration, conditions, happiness, skills with modern Veterinary diagnostic equipment, and working primarily with great clients.

We have worked hard over the last 4 years to develop a workplace that is designed to support our Vets and provide a job that is “normal”.  We are more interested in Our Veterinary Staff having the support, opportunities and conditions that exist in other professions and are currently rare in Vet.

See my 4min video explaining our journey here: -

We are offering pay well above award and depending on experience (including CPD and Super) but this job is about the opportunity to spend time getting the diagnostic skills you need for a rewarding lifetime career as a Veterinarian. It will suit a Veterinarian who loves and values their job and who is wanting to do the job we
loved as kids.

We are doing things right as we have been well staffed for the last 3 years and never needed to put our Vets under pressure by being under-staffed.  Veterinary Staff are paid for hours worked; paid market rates well above award; access to HR and support structures; and we provide whatever is needed to work professionally and happily.

What’s it like to work at Centenary Vets?

Hear from Dr. Georgia Gates, one of our Junior Vets who has been with us for 18 months:
Since starting at Centenary Vet, Mike has provided myself and my colleagues with multiple opportunities to expand our clinical skills. This has included a very generous structured CPD allowance (flying us to Sydney for an all covered Dentistry course), as well organising in-house abdominal and cardiac ultrasonography training. Centenary is passionate about providing a supportive work environment, and are always catering to our interests and growth as veterinarians.

And Dr. Janine Packer who has been graduated 35 years,
“I have been associated with Centenary Vets and in particular Mike Hinds, the owner, for the last 4 years and have seen the growth and expansion of the vision Mike has for the veterinary industry, its vets, his practice and his clients. His vision to bring the best veterinary service to clients in a caring personal setting, whilst taking care of his team is a goal, as a vet, I am honoured to partner with. I am excited at his focus to not accept difficulties but to find solutions to produce a forward momentum towards that vision. I have seen the intentionality to allow vets to have a more sustainable life, whilst enabling growth with continuing education and work experiences. His focus on having a caring, individualised service to our clients is also reflected in his approach to his veterinary team to reflect a positive family/team oriented environment.”

This may be your opportunity to join the team that is a great fit for you!  Don’t miss out!

The Opportunity

The rotating internship is a strongly mentored program where you will progress your EBVM and clinical skills working alongside a large team of specialists, experienced GPs and out of hours vets and specialty nurses. You will receive regular didactic teaching in the form of specialist led lectures and tutorials, regular CPR training, participate in journal club and case presentations. Applicants that are keen to publish research will also be supported throughout the year.

You will get to experience all of our available specialties by doing 6-month rotations in surgery, internal medicine and ECC. All of the teams have some overlap with the other specialties in our hospital so you will be exposed to their work as well. The role includes 1 in 3 weekends. The position includes four weeks annual leave and one-week conference leave as well as a generous study allowance.

About you

The ideal applicant will be motivated and always willing to learn and grow. Our aim is for you to keep as much out of the internship as possible. Good communication skills are essential. Above all else we value someone who is a team player; committed to our patients and is keen to be a part of our specialist team.

Candidates must be eligible for veterinary registration in NSW. You will be rewarded with a generous salary & benefits that is reflective of the experience you bring to the position. We will support you with visa applications, Australian Veterinary Registration and provide you with tailored relocation support to suit your situation.

Applications should include curriculum vitae, a letter stating the reasons for seeking the internship, and the name and contact details of two-three referees.
