The Berwick Village Vet, South-East Melbourne (posted 20th January)
P/T Experienced nurse required! Roughly 22-27 hours but this can be adjusted to suit the right applicant, and if you're management minded maybe even more!
We are a small clinic with two FTE Vets made up of 4 Vets. Recently a situation has occurred where a loyal member of our nursing team has experienced a tough change and needs some flexibility in the foreseeable future. To give her this flexibility we need help!
We are made up of 5 nurses, with the aforementioned 4 Vets in various roles. We're a social team and like to work with each other, even though we are all different in our own ways. We welcome all nurses, and you will enjoy working here! Whilst we have the odd obligatory eccentric client, we have one of the best clientele bases you'll come across. They trust us to do a good job, and that involves referral to specialists and emergency centres where required.
This is not a position for a trainee, sorry. This is a position for an experienced Veterinary Nurse. A Cert IV is an advantage, but let's face it experience trumps a Cert IV in most cases. The nursing team here are expanding their capabilities, and now take and run most bloods, iv catheters, fluid management, in house medications and the likes. There is lots of scope for more Veterinary nurse involvement, and we usually use a nurse for nail trims, and all the routine injections. A lot of in-house pathology is run by the nursing team, including urine tests, blood tests, SNAP tests and the likes. We have an awesome trainee, she is a lovely person, and keen to work. She will however require some guidance on all things nursing, from the clinical nursing, reception, client management and some of the admin tasks. One of our last trainee's Ruby is now one of our senior nurses.
We definitely want a team player. I understand when you start a new position you are not a loyal team member until you have bought into the clinic ethos and the staff around you. However we want someone to join us and be part of a great little clinic. Someone who communicates well, works hard and enjoys life.
So in short what do we want?
- A social team player, who can communicate well with their peers, and "join the team" bringing a new way of doing things and a new personality!
- Clinically experienced, and able to place catheters, draw bloods, run in house pathology, run a surgical shift, and manage nurse consults, or at least keen to learn.
- Work with our fantastic clientele to show them how well meaning and good we are!
- Be able to guide a nurse trainee to achieve great things
- 5-Complete all the necessary admin, cleaning and housekeeping a small clinic needs
So are you interested in meeting us to see if this role might be for you? Please call us on 9707 3855. If you'd like to send in your C.V please send it to office@berwickvillagevet.com.au.
