GOLD COAST - SMALL ANIMALS

Full-Time Veterinarian | Gold Coast
Great medicine. Great team. Great lifestyle.
Looking for a veterinary hospital where you can do the kind of medicine you're proud of, work alongside an experienced and genuinely supportive team, and still have a life outside the clinic?
We're looking for an experienced full-time veterinarian with a minimum of 3 years' experience to join our established small animal hospital on the Gold Coast.
We're particularly looking for someone with strong surgical skills. Ultrasound experience would be a fantastic bonus, but more importantly, we're looking for a veterinarian who values high standards of care, enjoys working as part of a team and wants to build lasting relationships with clients and their pets.
Why you'll love working with us
We're a long-standing practice with a fantastic reputation in our local community. Our clients come to us because they know the standard of care we provide — not because we're the cheapest option.
We have a large, experienced team of 6–7 vets, with 4–5 vets working together each day, so you're never working in isolation. Our nursing team is exceptional, including two UK-qualified veterinary nurses, and our three receptionists are incredibly well liked by both the team and our clients.
We genuinely enjoy working together. Every morning we start with team rounds — coffee, a laugh, a plan for the day and a chance to check in with each other. We have generous scheduling, protected breaks and time built into the day for client call-backs, liaising with specialists and discussing cases with your teammates.
And yes, we actually like each other outside work too. The team regularly socialises, including pickleball and hiking, and we're a very family-friendly group.
The medicine
We're a well-equipped hospital with:
- Full in-house laboratory
- Mindray ultrasound
- Two iM3 dental units
- Excellent surgical facilities
- Visiting specialist orthopaedic surgeon
- Strong relationships with local referral and emergency hospitals
We see 30-minute consultations, allowing enough time to build relationships, investigate cases properly and provide the level of care our clients expect.
Our clientele is fantastic, with a high percentage of insured patients and strong wellness plan uptake. This means appropriate diagnostics and gold-standard treatment recommendations are welcomed — you won't spend your day trying to convince clients why good medicine matters.
Our location also gives us a wonderfully varied caseload. We're on the fringe of the Gold Coast, bordering rural properties and the hinterland, so alongside your usual small animal medicine you'll see interesting cases including ticks, snakes and urgent care, as well as plenty of challenging internal medicine and surgical cases.
Please click here to see photos! ![]()
A team that will help you grow
The hospital is led by Dr Amy, an excellent mentor with exceptional surgical and internal medicine skills.
Across the team we have particular interests in:
- Feline medicine
- Ophthalmology
- Dentistry
- Holistic and integrative medicine
- Surgery and internal medicine
We also have a fantastic contract surgeon who visits for our orthopaedic cases two or three times a month, giving you the opportunity to work alongside and learn from experienced clinicians without needing to leave general practice.
We're fortunate to have three emergency clinics within 15km, meaning there is no after-hours work. We have strong relationships with the other veterinary practices in our area and we believe in working collaboratively rather than competitively when it comes to patient care.
The lifestyle
This is the Gold Coast, after all.
You'll have a 4-day working week, with no more than 1 in 4 Saturdays. Saturday clinics are only four hours (8am-12pm) and are run as wellness clinics — vaccinations and routine preventative care rather than complex and unwell appointments.
No after-hours. No endless weekends. No sacrificing your life outside the clinic.
Instead, you'll have a genuinely supportive team, interesting medicine, excellent clients and a lifestyle that makes the Gold Coast such a great place to live.
Who we're looking for
You'll ideally have:
- Minimum 3 years' small animal veterinary experience
- Strong surgical skills and confidence managing routine soft tissue surgery
- An interest in high-quality diagnostic work-ups and gold-standard patient care
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A team-first attitude
- The ability to work efficiently within a 30-minute consultation model
- Ultrasound experience would be highly regarded
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to do good medicine, be part of a great team and enjoy coming to work.
If you're looking for a practice where you can continue to grow clinically without giving up your evenings, weekends and life outside work, we'd love to hear from you.
Come and meet us, have a coffee, see the hospital and get a feel for the team.
If you’re looking for a clinic that values teamwork, professional growth, and a positive workplace culture, we’d love to hear from you.

POMONA, SUNSHINE COAST - SMALL ANIMAL, LEAD VET/CLINICAL DIRECTOR
Lead Veterinarian / Clinical Director
Lead with Purpose • Drive Standards • Mentor a Team • Shape the Future of a Practice
At Sunshine Coast Vets, we believe exceptional practices are built by great people — those who lead with kindness, lift others up, and take pride in creating something meaningful.
We're now seeking a Lead Veterinarian / Clinical Director to help guide the next chapter of our Pomona practice in the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
Why This Role Matters
This is more than a senior clinical position. It's an opportunity to influence culture, mentor and develop a growing team, help shape a practice that values quality care, genuine relationships and a strong community connection.
You'll work closely with the owner to:
- Imbed and maintain evidence-based medical protocols aligned with modern best-practice veterinary care and collaborative team input.
- Guide continuous improvement of hospital facilities, equipment and clinical systems.
- Mentor and develop team members through accountability, support and growth planning.
- Improve operational workflow and the efficiency of team deployment.
- Strengthen trusted client relationships and community engagement.
- Help shape strategic direction, culture and long-term practice growth.
Importantly, this role remains strongly clinical, with continued hands-on veterinary work, case management, surgery, and direct client and community interaction forming a core part of the position.

Why You'll Want It
Because this role offers what many experienced vets can't find:
- Real leadership influence
- Autonomy without corporate pressure
- A supportive, people-first environment
- A respected voice in the business
- A lifestyle location that feels like home
Pomona offers the best of both worlds — hinterland charm, beaches nearby, great schools, local produce and a warm, welcoming community!
What's In It for You
A tailored package designed for a veterinarian ready to lead and make a lasting impact, including:
- Base salary $150,000 plus
- Leadership incentives
- Relocation support
- CE + leadership development
- VIN membership
- Long-term growth opportunities
Who You Are
You're an experienced veterinarian who still genuinely enjoys clinical practice — working closely with clients, solving cases, mentoring others, and being part of the day-to-day veterinary experience.
You lead with calm confidence, communicate with emotional intelligence, and care deeply about maintaining exceptional medical and clinical standards.
You recognise the strengths within people, enjoy developing teams, and understand that a strong culture is built through consistency, accountability, and genuine relationships.
Are you a Senior Vet, Lead Vet, Clinical Director, or an experienced Vet ready for the next step? If you want to contribute to something meaningful and help shape the future of a practice, not simply fill a role, this is your opportunity!
Ready to Build Something Meaningful?
If you're looking for a role where you can influence, grow, and genuinely make a difference, a veterinarian who still loves clinical practice, we'd love to talk.

MARBURG/ANSTEAD, LOCKYER VALLEY/BRISBANE WEST - EQUINE New Position
Full-Time Equine Veterinarian
WestVETS Equine Hospital | Brisbane, QLD
Ready for a caseload that never lets you get bored?
Picture this: one morning you're floating teeth on a pleasure horse in the paddock, that afternoon you're scoping an upper airway in the hospital, and by evening you're out on an after-hours colic call under the stars.
That's life at WestVETS. We're a predominantly equine practice split across two purpose-built sites — our main hospital at Anstead and a 65-acre Equine Reproduction Centre at Marburg — and we're looking for a vet who wants real variety, real mentorship, and a real career, not just a job. Candidates with an interest in hobby farm animals such as camelids, small ruminants and cattle may find this role particularly appealing — though large animal work is not a requirement of the role.
Please click here to see photos! ![]()
The Work
- First-opinion ambulatory work, with a strong focus on preventative healthcare and performance dentistry
- Lameness workups and performance consults
- Sport horse and geriatric medicine
- Emergencies that keep you sharp — colic, choke, ophthalmology, lacerations
- After-hours hospital and ambulatory cases
- Hobby farm animal work depending on experience level and comfort with mentorship supplied.
Roughly 80% of our ambulatory caseload is sport and pleasure horse cases — warmbloods, quarter horses, pleasure horses — while hospital and referral work is a 50/50 mix of racing and non-racing.
Who We're After
- Experienced equine vets welcome — we also welcome veterinarians straight out of an internship.
- Curious, driven, and keen to grow across medicine, surgery, reproduction and lameness
- A strong communicator who puts patient care first
- In it for the long haul, with an eye on real career progression
- Holds, or is eligible to hold, current QLD veterinary registration
You Won't Be Figuring This Out Alone
Our clinicians bring over 100 years of combined experience between them, spanning surgery, internal medicine, sports medicine, reproduction and stud medicine — including specialists in surgery and internal medicine. Case discussion is part of our culture, not an afterthought. Ask questions. Get answers. Grow.
We back that up with:
- VetPD courses and AVA/EVA continuing education
- A fortnightly journal club at Anstead
- The Altano Network and Altano Academy
- CoVet AI scribe access
- Study time and financial support toward further qualifications
The Kit
Surgical theatre, ICU stables, isolation facilities, an in-house lab (SAA, Wellness Ready Insulin, urinalysis), and in-house ProStride, Alpha-2 Macroglobulin, Shockwave and Class IV laser therapy. On the diagnostics side: digital radiography, ultrasound, gastroscopy/endoscopy, dynamic upper airway endoscopy, oroscope and Equinosis Lameness Locator.

MARBURG/ANSTEAD, LOCKYER VALLEY/BRISBANE WEST - MIXED
New Position
Mixed Animal Veterinarian – Full-Time
WestVETS Animal Hospital | Brisbane West & Lockyer Valley
Anstead | Marburg
About Us
What started as a single-vet practice on the outskirts of Brisbane has grown into two clinical centres — an Equine Hospital and Small Animal Clinic at Anstead, and an Equine Reproduction Centre and Small Animal Clinic at Marburg, which together make up WestVETS Animal Hospitals.
WestVETS employs a team of over 20 veterinarians plus 90 support staff across both clinical centres. We pride ourselves on a strong team culture which helps make working at WestVETS an enjoyable experience, reflected in a low staff turnover. We strive to be the best we can be as individuals while contributing to the greater team.
The Role
The mixed veterinarian role is a genuine mixed role — not small animal with the occasional farm call. We're talking real variety, real challenge, and real satisfaction. Every day is truly different.
Your caseload will include:
- Small animal: From first puppy visits to geriatrics, Caesareans to orthopaedics, emergency care to routine visits — you will enjoy a varied caseload with plenty of backup from senior veterinarians. We are also a 40-minute drive from three emergency centres.
- Equine: This role suits someone who enjoys providing primary opinion care to a wide variety of clientele, with the ability to refer for surgery, medicine or reproductive work. With broad equine clinical knowledge across both clinics, there is usually someone who can help you through whatever you encounter on the road.
- Ruminants and camelids: Herd visits, dystocias, neonatology.
- Emergency and after-hours care: Fully supported by senior veterinarians.
- A manageable 1-in-4 on-call roster.
Whether you're fresh out of vet school or a seasoned mixed-practice clinician, this role can be shaped around you and your clinical interests.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary commensurate with experience
- After-hours bonus payments on top of your base salary
- Days off in lieu of working a weekend
- 4.5-day work week
- CPD allowance to keep growing clinically
- Altano Network access — a large international clinician network for case discussions, with access to experienced Altano vets worldwide
- CoVet AI — an intelligent clinical note and consultation recording tool, so you spend less time on paperwork and more time on patients
- Free VetPD library access — webinars, panel discussions and lecture series, including resources for those exploring College pathways
Our Facilities
Both hospitals are purpose-built and well-equipped — with all the tools you would expect from a modern multidisciplinary practice, and then some.

Our Team
You will be backed by a team of skilled veterinary nurses and technicians who take anaesthetic monitoring, patient care and client communication seriously — so you can focus on doing your best clinical work.
If you want clinical backup, we have a large variety of veterinarians including boarded surgeons and internal medicine specialists, in addition to our senior clinical veterinarian team who have over 100 years of combined experience between them.
Who We're Looking For
We welcome applications from veterinarians at all stages of their career.
New Graduates
- Structured mentorship from highly experienced clinicians
- A supported learning environment across all levels of the WestVETS team
- Case discussion is part of the culture — not an exception to it
Experienced Vets
- Clinical autonomy and genuine case continuity
- Space to develop and pursue your special interests
- Collaborative peers who enjoy discussing interesting cases
Weekends & After-Hours
We will be upfront — contributing to weekend work is part of this role. Senior vets are available to discuss cases and you are never left to sink or swim.
That might look like working Saturdays, participating in the 1-in-4 on-call roster, or a combination of both. We know weekends matter, which is exactly why we share the load fairly — no one gets stuck with every Saturday morning. When you do work a weekend, you will receive two days in lieu so your time off is protected.
After-hours work is recognised with bonus payments, because your time outside of business hours deserves to be valued.
Requirements
- Veterinary degree recognised in Australia
- Current Queensland registration, or eligibility to register
- Three professional references or referee contact details
- Willingness to contribute to Saturday work and/or the 1-in-4 on-call roster
Applicants must be eligible for veterinary registration in Queensland to be considered.
Why WestVETS?
The best way to see if we are a good fit is to come and visit. You can meet the team and see how we work. We also encourage you to speak with current or past team members.
Our team is made up of vets and support staff who are enthusiastic, collaborative and genuinely invested in each other's success. We ask questions, share knowledge and back one another.

ANSTEAD/MARBURG, BRISBANE'S WESTERN FRINGE - SMALL ANIMAL POSITION IN MIXED
New Position
Small Animal Veterinarian – Full-Time or Part-Time
WestVETS Animal Hospital | Brisbane West & Lockyer Valley
Anstead | Marburg
About Us
WestVETS Animal Hospital began as a single-vet practice on the outskirts of Brisbane.
Today, we are a team of over 20 veterinarians with 90 support staff across two purpose-built, multidisciplinary hospitals in Anstead and Marburg — and we are proud of how we got here.
Our growth has never been about chasing numbers. It has been about getting the fundamentals right: quality medicine, genuine client relationships, and a workplace that you enjoy coming to. If that sounds like somewhere you would thrive, keep reading.
The Role
You might know WestVETS as one of Queensland's leading equine practices. What many people don't realise is that small animal medicine is a significant and thriving part of what we do — supported by an experienced, capable team across both hospitals who are genuinely passionate about what they practise.
This isn't a role where you'll be finding your feet alone. You'll be joining an established small animal team with the support, facilities and culture to help you do your best work — whatever stage of your career you're at.
Your caseload may include:
- General medicine and preventative healthcare
- Surgical cases
- Dentistry
- Emergency and critical care
- Orthopaedic cases
- Hospitalised patients
- A varied and rewarding first-opinion caseload
Flexibility & Work-Life Balance
We'll be straightforward about something: we've thought carefully about this one.
A significant number of our team are working parents, and genuine flexibility isn't a line in a job ad for us — it's something we've actually built into how we operate. School pick-up constraints, part-time preferences, shared care arrangements — these are conversations we're used to having, and we're good at finding arrangements that work.
This position is available full-time or part-time, and can be based at Anstead, Marburg, or across both — whatever suits your life.
Saturday work is welcomed, and we're flexible about how that fits into your schedule. We'll work with you to find something that makes sense for everyone.
We also run 20–30 minute consultation blocks as standard — because rushed medicine isn't good medicine, and burning out your team isn't a growth strategy.
Who We're Looking For
We welcome applications from veterinarians at all stages of their career.
New Graduates
- Structured mentorship from experienced small animal clinicians
- An environment where asking questions is genuinely encouraged
- Case discussion woven into everyday culture, not reserved for formal meetings
Experienced Vets
- Real clinical autonomy and meaningful case continuity

- Colleagues who enjoy a good case discussion as much as you do

- CPD allowance to support your ongoing professional development
- Altano Network access — a large international clinician network for case discussion, peer collaboration and shared learning
- CoVet AI — an AI-powered clinical note and consultation recording tool included as part of your employment, designed to reduce admin and help you actually finish on time
- Free VetPD library access — webinars, panel discussions and lecture series, with resources suited to those exploring College pathways
- Generous staff discounts — especially handy if you happen to own a horse
Facilities & Support

- DR digital radiography and dental CR
- Ultrasound
- Endoscopy
- IDEXX in-house laboratory equipment
- Point-of-care blood gas and coagulation analysers
- Comprehensive orthopaedic equipment
Behind every good vet is a great nursing team — and ours is exceptional. Our nurses and technicians take anaesthetic monitoring, patient care, hospital workflow and client communication seriously, giving you the space to focus on clinical work rather than chasing your tail

Why WestVETS?
We are a larger practice that has worked hard not to feel like one.
