MALENY, SUNSHINE COAST HINTERLAND - MIXED
Part Time Experienced Veterinarian
- Mixed animal practice
- Part time (2-3 days per week)
- Rolling weekend roster (1 in 5)
Maleny Veterinary Services is a family-owned mixed practice located in the magnificent hinterland of the Sunshine Coast. We are spoilt with lovely clients, gorgeous countryside and a great proximity to both Brisbane and the beaches of the Sunshine Coast.
We are an independent, well-established and highly respected practice with clients comprised of companion animals (80%) plus a variety of large animal work including cattle, alpacas, pigs, sheep and horses.
Our team is a friendly bunch of 22ish staff members including seven vets, ten super-nurses and an awesome support crew. Our practice philosophy is one of providing outstanding, old-fashioned service coupled with the pursuit of excellence in what we do. We look after each other, knowing that without a strong team, we can’t do our job well.
With one of our vets departing the team to move north, we are seeking an experienced veterinarian to jump on in. Is it you?! The right person is a friendly, qualified veterinary surgeon who can help service our caseload. With our existing vets ranging in experience from 1 year right through to 30+ years, we are ideally looking for someone with at least a year or two under their belts who wants a new challenge in a supportive team where professional growth and peer support are highly valued.
The remuneration package and benefits are negotiable, dependent on experience. As a guide, our other full time vets receive a competitive base salary plus super, on-call and laundry allowances, after-hours payments, plus a continuing education allowance. The annual holiday allowance is four weeks, with an additional week of paid study leave per year after your first year of employment with us.
The work environment is open, friendly and supportive and veterinarians are encouraged to collaborate on cases whenever possible. We strive to practise the highest quality medicine and surgery and there is ample scope for our veterinarians to develop their skills and special interests.
Equipment on hand in the practice includes dental machines, ultrasound, in-house IDEXX lab, Vetscan Imagyst, tonometer, etc. The relative proximity to Sunshine Coast also allows referral to specialist centres when required.
Please click here to see photos!
We’re a particularly good-humoured, tenacious bunch and there are days that we forget that what we’re doing is supposed to be ‘work’. But don’t just take our word for it – we encourage applicants to speak to the vets currently working here to discuss their experiences!
If you share our philosophy and dedication to animal care, have great communication and organisation skills AND a ridiculous sense of humour, we look forward to hearing from you.
Please send your resume to our Practice Manager Amanda Fea at manager@malenyvet.com.au

FOREST GLEN, SUNSHINE COAST - SMALL ANIMAL
New Position
Tired of "Groundhog Day" veterinary medicine?
More and more pet families are looking for tailored solutions and personalised care. This is what we offer at The Natural Vets. An integrative vet practice on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, Queensland Australia. Where we do all the usual veterinary stuff, but we do it differently.
Please click here to see photos!
At The Natural Vets, integrated treatment solutions are the norm. We pride ourselves on proactive medicine, exceptional standards of care and outstanding experiences. And no, we don’t have a cauldron out the back, or a broomstick. Everything we do is underpinned by science.
So, what could you be getting yourself into if you come work with us?
- Complex medical case work-ups and palliative care caseload;
- Dentistry and dental radiography - we fix LOTS of grotty teeth;
- Critical anaesthetics - and an excellent track record for anaesthetic safety;
- Soft-tissue or orthopaedic surgeries. (But the desire or ability to perform these is not essential. We have both mobile surgeons and excellent referral facilities who can fill the gap if you don’t want to.)
And, because we’re different, you need to open to widening your scope with integrative care plans. Your ability to develop them commensurate with your current skillset. Alternative modalities we offer include Chinese and Western herbal medicine, acupuncture, wholefoods nutrition and homeopathy. (On-the-job training will be provided for those who have not yet pursued further study.)
So… essential qualities you need to thrive in this environment? Let’s get the obvious ones out the way. You need to have your veterinary qualification. Be registered to practice in Australia. Enjoy working as part of a team.
Some others:
- Be dedicated to providing exceptional standards of care.
- Be willing to follow practice protocols. Especially relating to standards of care, communication (client and colleagues) and work ethic.
- Be receptive to feedback, from both leadership and your team members.
(NB/Some feedback will be numbers-based. If you don’t already know what a KPI is, it’s never too late to learn.)
Desirable qualities that will also benefit you, and us:
- A growth mindset.
- Resilience.
- A sense of humour. We like people who can make us laugh.
- You enjoy the dynamic landscape a day in the life of a vet provides.
- You have excellent time-management skills.
Located 45 minutes from Noosa, Australia’s #1 tourist destination - who wouldn’t want to live and work here?
The nitty-gritty:
- Part-time hours (3.5 days per week including Saturdays) - more hours can be offered for those after full-time work;
- Pay rate well above award and commensurate with skill-set and experience (all of our experienced vets are on pa wages of >$130,000 for equivalent full-time position);
- Paid study leave and annual training budget;
- All the usual perks apply;
- No Sundays / after-hours;
New or recent grads are welcome to apply and will be supported to onboard. A proven interest in natural therapies would increase the stakes. We are open to considering sponsorship for the right applicant.
Come on, make our 2025 even better than 2024 was and join our Natural Vets' team. Where pets find their path to wellness, but you? This could be your path to fulfilment.
Apply by calling us on +617 54767674 to book a time for a chat with me (Dr Renee James).
If it feels like a match we will then start the formal interview process.
