UNDERWOOD, LOGAN - SMALL ANIMAL, WEEKENDS

Are you a veterinarian who has a passion for patient care and would like to become an integral part of a genuinely multi-disciplinary team?

Do you think weekend work might give you the flexibility to spend weekdays doing something else?

Do you enjoy working independently with the support necessary for you to perform at your best?

Most if not all Veterinary practices have become significantly busier over the last 12 months.  We have not been immune to this and are adapting our teams and processes with the aim of delivering the excellent patient care we are known for while trying to provide our team with a working environment that is sustainable for them.  This is a big challenge!  We need the right people to help us manage our caseload, and this has led to several new roles being created.

We would like to increase our team size at our hospital located in Underwood to provide weekend care for our hospitalised patients. These patients will be hospitalised for a variety of conditions and whilst monitoring and treatment for some will be intensive, critical patients will still be managed within the ICU. There will be no requirements to see emergency cases as these are handled by a partnering emergency service.

About Us
Veterinary Specialist Services is an established Small Animal referral practice in South East Queensland.  This role would be based at our Underwood practice in Brisbane.  We are striving to create an environment where people can do their best work.  We have many things to work on to get there and we are adapting as fast as possible. Our teams are very passionate about delivering patient care and support each other to do it.  We have a very diverse skill set and can offer just about all specialities, diagnostic modalities and therapies across our practice group.  We have residency training programs for vets, in house training programs for nurses and over the years, about 20% of our interns have gone on to become registered Specialists.  We are involved in the industry with wide participation in professional groups, universities, continuing education courses and we have our own conference.  The Underwood hospital specifically has specialists, registrars and residents with training in Internal Medicine, Small Animal Surgery, Anaesthesia, Cardiology, Emergency and Critical Care, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Oncology and Animal Physiotherapy.

What we are looking for

Why we hope you’ll want to join us.

Why you might not want to join us.

Interested?
Please either submit your CV and a covering letter to us at HR@vss.net.au, or contact Chantal Kriel (Underwood’s practice manager – phone 07 3841 7011) if you’d like any more information.  We understand the employment market for Veterinarians is competitive and are happy to talk about remuneration.  We’ve got the policies and support programs you’d expect from a larger practice.  You can check out our website (vss.net.au), have a look at our Veterinary Resource Area in the clinical information https://www.vss.net.au/vss-resource-area.html or let us know if you’d like to talk to one of our team members for some unbiased feedback on how things are in the clinic.  We recently asked our staff what it was like to work at VSS – you can find what they say here https://www.vss.net.au/veterinary-careers.html

FOREST LAKE, SOUTH-WEST BRISBANE - SMALL ANIMAL

Part-Time Primary Care Veterinarian – 9-5:30 Consulting Hours.   2-3 days per week work with no Weekend work.   Job is suitable for Working Parents.

Centenary Vets-Forest Lake is a Consultation Primary Care Practice with all procedures referred to our incredibly well-equipped Primary Care Hospital at Middle Park.

Our driving philosophy is to Improve Vets work conditions in areas like remuneration, conditions, happiness, skills with modern Veterinary diagnostic equipment, and working primarily with great clients. This led us to set up Centenary Vets Forest Lake as a practice that Vets with children can easily drop off to school in the mornings and in the afternoons either bring them back to the clinic at 3pm or still get them before 6pm from after school care.

The option is available to also keep your hand in with surgery days working alongside our experienced Surgical Vets.

We have worked hard over the last 4 years to develop a workplace that is designed to support our Vets and provide a job that is “normal”.  We are more interested in Our Veterinary Staff having the support, opportunities and conditions that exist in other professions and are currently rare in Vet.

See my 4 min video explaining our journey here:

We are offering pay well above award and depending on experience and suitability to our practice (excluding CPD and Super). Holiday time is 6 weeks per annum ( this can be used for as much or as little study leave as you want)

We are doing things right as we have been well staffed for the last 3 years and never needed to put our Vets under pressure by being under-staffed.  Veterinary Staff are paid for hours worked; paid market rates well above award; access to HR and support structures; and we provide whatever is needed to work professionally and happily.

What’s it like to work at Centenary Vets?

Hear from Dr. Georgia Gates, one of our Junior Vets who has been with us for 18 months:
Since starting at Centenary Vet, Mike has provided myself and my colleagues with multiple opportunities to expand our clinical skills. This has included a very generous structured CPD allowance (flying us to Sydney for an all covered Dentistry course), as well organising in-house abdominal and cardiac ultrasonography training. Centenary is passionate about providing a supportive work environment, and are always catering to our interests and growth as veterinarians.

And Dr. Janine Packer who has been graduated 35 years,

“I have been associated with Centenary Vets and in particular Mike Hinds, the owner, for the last 4 years and have seen the growth and expansion of the vision Mike has for the veterinary industry, its vets, his practice and his clients. His vision to bring the best veterinary service to clients in a caring personal setting, whilst taking care of his team is a goal, as a vet, I am honoured to partner with. I am excited at his focus to not accept difficulties but to find solutions to produce a forward momentum towards that vision. I have seen the intentionality to allow vets to have a more sustainable life, whilst enabling growth with continuing education and work experiences. His focus on having a caring, individualised service to our clients is also reflected in his approach to his veterinary team to reflect a positive family/team oriented environment.”

WARWICK, SOUTH DARLING DOWNS - MIXED New Graduates welcome

Mixed Practice Veterinarian Positions Available – Warwick, QLD

Warwick Town and Country Vets is a well-established privately owned clinic, currently seeking to employ 2 mixed practice veterinarians. The positions available are very flexible and could either be a full time or part time position or a casual position. Experienced veterinarians, and or new or recent graduates will be considered for the positions with continued support and mentoring provided.

We are a small but dedicated team of 2 vets and 4 nurses, and we pride ourselves on providing exceptional customer service and practicing a high quality of veterinary medicine and surgery to our friendly and loyal clientele. You will be working in a friendly and relaxed environment with an experienced team of supportive staff. The clinic is currently a mix of approximately 80% small animals and 20% large animals (horses, cattle, sheep and goats).

Our veterinary hospital is equipped with modern technology including a digital x-ray machine, an ultrasound, a dental x-ray machine and im3 dental unit. We run Vision software which integrates with our in house IDEXX laboratory which consists of a lasercyte, catalyst one, coag analyser, vetlab urinalysis and microscopes. We have multiple fluid pumps for hospital and surgery patients. We have 2 anaesthetic machines and monitoring equipment. We have a power float for equine dentals.

Our clinic hours are 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm Saturday and 9am to 12pm Sunday (you will only have to attend the clinic on Sunday for emergencies), and we provide an afterhours emergency service at all other times. We do take some of the stress out of being the vet on call by having a great team of very experienced nurses who are on call with you, but most importantly they take and answer the afterhours phone which means that you will only get a call from the afterhours nurse if they need further advice or in an event of an emergency. A work car will be provided for on call use.

We have always been supportive of a great work-life balance and think that this is essential for a rewarding career in this profession; therefore, our rosters and hours are very flexible. You may like to work 2 days a week or 5 days a week or even just 1 week a month. Salary will be well in excess of the award + super and will depend on your experience and the number of hours you choose to work. An additional bonus will be paid after the initial 3 months once you decide that this is the job for you. You will be given 1 weeks paid study leave and $5000 to spend on continuing education in addition to 4 weeks holiday leave each year. NAMBOUR, SUNSHINE COAST - SMALL ANIMALNew Graduates welcome

New grad looking for your first job?

Recent grad looking for a change?

Want a job that supports you in a way that your career flourishes?

Hey, I'm Dr Sian and together with Dr Chris we own and operate All Animal Veterinary Services.

We all know that junior Vets are in high demand and are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a job.

That's a bit different to when we first graduated!

And whilst that's different…

What has stayed the same is that it is the challenge of trying to decide who to trust to support you early in your career!

Being a vet is a fantastic and rewarding career…

One in which you have worked very hard to be a part of.

Sadly, over the years we have both seen outstanding junior Vets thrown in the deep end and becoming overwhelmed…

Many left the industry for which they had a passion without ever getting the chance to make a difference.

When Chris and I started our clinic we were very clear that when the time came to take on board a junior Vet that they would be supported, valued and encouraged to thrive.

If that is what you are looking for then All Animal Veterinary Services is the clinic for you!

And we are on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland!!

Please click here to see photos! photos

But you should ignore all that and instead listen to what Dr Bri has said about her experience…

All animal Vets has been a wonderful clinic to work at. I started about two years ago as a recent graduate and have been provided lots of support from the senior vets, plenty of chances for learning and development as well as encouragement of continued professional development opportunities.

It is a busy, at times fast-paced clinic, with lots of exposure to interesting and varied cases and surgeries. We have such an enjoyable, positive clinic culture, we’re always up for a laugh while getting in and working together to get the job done!

If this sounds like the kind of clinic you might like to start or further your career then I'd love to hear from you!

All you need is a keen attitude to learn and a good sense of humour…

(And a Vet degree... you will need one of those!)

And we will help you with the rest.

If you'd like to learn more flick me a text or give me a call on 0415 569 683.

You will not find a better team anywhere.

We support each other. We work hard. We collaborate. We always hold the patients’ needs first and foremost. We have vets with many decades of experience to assist you. We problem solve together.

We challenge you to find a more adaptive and efficient small animal team in Australia!

Samford Valley is 25km from Brisbane city, 1.5hrs to Gold & Sunshine Coasts

Ideally we need a full time vet. We can also accommodate your preference for part time or casual.

You will have everything at your fingertips to diagnose & work-up your cases in our fully equipped small animal hospital. Digital xrays inc dental, ultrasound, surgical theatre, intensive care, in-house lab, bair huggers...the list goes on!

We have been in our beautiful Samford Valley for over 40 years.  We are ingrained in our community and their animals - and we simply wouldn't have it any other way. Positions in our practice are tightly held, and our team really do make a difference in the lives of our loving, close-knit family community.  Our clients are dedicated & willingly follow your patient care plan.

Canine (85%) Feline (10%) Wildlife / Avian (<5 %) The caseload is broad and varied - we really do see it all here! From the simple to the complex - medical and surgical.

We see the normal mix of household pet problems through the consult door, as well as plenty of emergencies common to country living (ticks, snake bites, heat stress, hit by car etc)

RIPLEY, CITY OF IPSWICH - SMALL ANIMAL

BE WHO YOU NEED TO BE

WHAT WE HEAR:
Great to find a place with no arrogance and hierarchy
Finally I feel like I’m a contributing part of a team
The induction was great, I knew what was expected of me, and how best to work with the team and standards of the hospital
There’s no us and them, it’s so refreshing
Management actually wants input from the staff. It’s like we all run the hospital together. I feel valued.

This is the feedback we hear, not just from our vets but our whole team!

PONDER…
Been out of uni a few years and really finding your feet (left and right foot now – well done; how’s that feel?)!

Loving being a vet, but just not fulfilled where you are? Maybe time to move to and grow into your next shell?

US:
We’re a smallies 3 – 4 vet ASAV hospital open since 2018. Purpose built hospital.

Why us? Well, we want you to help create the place you want to work in.

We believe strongly in investing in developing our team members (be it personal growth, clinical growth, or leadership…or inevitably all 3).

We enjoy our time together (be that at the hospital, dine-out team meetings, sailing days, clay target shooting or cocktail making). You might even be part of our pizza making competition later this year.

We aren’t just part of our hospital community, we’re a bit part of the developing Ripley Community also.

Please click here to see photos! photos

YOU:
We need a vet who’s been out minimum 3 years, and has a thirst to grow into their next stage.

Sure, there’s a dearth of vets currently, but it hasn’t affected us because our whole team mucks into the consulting process. As a vet you’ll be supported by a skilled and dedicated bunch to make sure your day flows smoothly.

What is the epitome of being a vet – you diagnose, prescribe & cut!
We put a lot of effort into helping our vets grow. And the cool thing is we’re always growing! I’ve been out since 2005 and I still learn things every day!

Have permission finally to be who you need to be, not who someone wants you to be.

Fun credits (annual) - $80 000 - 120 000.

Next step:
If something here speaks to you, or resonates with you, reach out. I’d love to have a chat and find out what you want out of your next job, and we’ll see if we can help you to grow there!

ROSEWOOD, WEST IPSWICH - MIXEDNew Graduates welcome

Are you the veterinarian for us or are we the clinic for you?

Come and join an exciting and fun team at Rosewood Veterinary Service in semi-rural Rosewood, Ipswich. Whether you’re looking for full-time, part-time or casual, have experience or are just starting out as a new graduate, we’re keen to talk to you. We are new graduate friendly with our most recent graduate still with us after 3 years. We offer a supportive environment that encourages skill development and growth in the industry.

Like the other clinics listed, we also have a position for a veterinarian. Unlike some of those listed, we are a family-owned and operated practice. We are a very busy clinic but don’t let that scare you off. We are a supportive team of three full-time experienced vets with a team of very capable, skilled professionals aiding us. Our workload is approximately 90% small animal and 10% large animal. There is some weekend work but there is no afterhours, no sole charge and our work week generally won’t exceed 38 hours.

GREENBANK, LOGAN - SMALL ANIMAL

FTE position $110-150K plus super plus CE. Want 6weeks holidays a year? Ok we can arrange that. 4 day week Monday to Friday with one day off.  NO AH. NO weekends unless you want to. Veterinarian for Small Animal Veterinarian Position at The Bloomin’ Vet.  One of our awesome fulltimers has crossed over to the dark side - emergency!  So we need a new vet.

We have NO KPIs. We have no performance targets. If you advocate for the pet we get the best outcomes and we still make money. We are 100% privately owned by myself and have no corporate aspirations in the future.

You are the patient advocate. You are here to discuss the best option for the pet with the client and educate them on what is best for their pet’s health needs. We can help this happen through our awesome qualified staff, digital x-rays, dental X-rays, Im3 LED dental unit, Vet-Tome, Mindray diagnostic ultrasound, in-house Idexx lab etc, blah blah.

We run 20minute consults to give you the time you need to discuss the patient's needs with the client.  New clients and new patients get 30 minutes consults.

Honestly  we get a shitty client once in a blue moon.  I’ve sacked a few. We are definitely not the cheapest practice by far in the area and most price conscious clients don’t come to us.  We do very little “breeding work”. We have some  good clients who choose to bring litters in to us because they like our service but all puppies get thorough examinations and the client pays accordingly.  Ethically,  we do not offer artificial insemination. No breeder discounts. “Breeders” are generally more work  and more stress than regular clients and certainly DO NOT deserve discounted services.

Purpose build 2 vet practice  at Greenbank on Brisbane's southside in a lovely acreage area with a few ticks and snakes bites to keep you hopping. You should have at least 2 years veterinary experience and be confident in your work, but you will also be supported by a vet with 28yrs exp. 2 days per week sole charge.

No after hours. Full time is 4 days a week 8am -6pm weekdays. You will always get out on time. If not paid overtime at your hrly rate but it happens literally once ever 1-2 months.
Currently I work  3-4 weekends a month. Working one weekend in 4-8 by negotiation would be awesome but not essential. 9-5 Sat or 9-2 Sunday are paid as 9.5hr  “Full Days”.

Remuneration from $110,000 ($55.66/hr) pre tax pls super plus CE allowance for a full time equivalent for the successful applicant..  5 yrs experience deserve to start at  $130,000($65.78/hr) minimum pre tax plus super etc for full time or equivalent.
OR if you are worth more, tell me what you are worth. Let’s  talk about it.

Alternatively, applicants who want to work different/ less hours are welcome to apply, school times etc.

If you want to give your current work plenty of notice ie 2-3-4 months that’s fine. They will appreciate it in the current climate and I understand that giving notice is hard but 2-4 months notice will ease that pain.

Happy to pay you you for a trial day/days  prior to committing to a position. Try before you buy!

Please email jobs@thebloominvet.com.au to express interest and tell us a little about you. Or message us here.
Thanks. Glenn Geissler 0458 603 635.

PARK RIDGE, LOGAN - SMALL ANIMAL New Position

What We Need

What is the down side?

Who We Are

Here’s what a vet who recently joined the team has to say:
I joined the Park Ridge Animal Hospital team in mid-2020. PRAH was highly recommended by multiple people - both general practice and specialists prior to me joining. The team was very welcoming and is extremely supportive. You have the ability to work up both surgical and medical cases to a high degree and most importantly you have dedicated time in the day to do this (instead of needing to do them between consults etc). They value your mental health and this is evident in multiple ways. Continuing education and progression is at the forefront of conversations as well, and they’re keen to see you excel in the veterinary profession. The nursing and support staff are trustworthy and skilled, which helps you to be able to focus on managing your case load. The rosters are done a couple months in advance, so this helps to have a positive work life balance. If you’re looking for a supportive team, interesting cases, thoughtful management and a workplace you look forward to coming into each day, then Park Ridge Animal Hospital is the veterinary hospital for you.”

Our most recent event was the Blanc de Blanc show at Spiegeltent Gold Coast, so much fun and a night full of laughter! We know how important a healthy work life balance is!

We are members of the Lincoln Institute, which delivers leadership and development training to veterinary business owners and their teams. Their programs help us to be the best team we can be with monthly team training, fortnightly staff meetings and an ongoing leadership course for management. We are always thinking of ways to improve the clinic but also the working environment for our team members.

This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing clinic, as well as to be a part of a truly happy team with great work culture. BRISBANE - PRIMARY CARE INTERNSHIP FOR VET WITH SOME EXPERIENCE New Graduates welcome

Full time Primary Care Veterinary position – open to New Graduate Vets or experienced Vets with the chance to learn Ultrasound skills, Body and Cardiac, Advanced Dental Procedures and full Medical condition workups.

Centenary Vets is an incredibly well-equipped Primary Care Hospital. We have grown to 9 Vets (4 full-time, 5 part-time). We staff ourselves well with 4-5 Vets per day with 7-10 procedures performed daily.

Our driving philosophy is to Improve Vets work conditions in areas like remuneration, conditions, happiness, skills with modern Veterinary diagnostic equipment, and working primarily with great clients.

We have worked hard over the last 4 years to develop a workplace that is designed to support our Vets and provide a job that is “normal”.  We are more interested in Our Veterinary Staff having the support, opportunities and conditions that exist in other professions and are currently rare in Vet.

See my 4min video explaining our journey here: -

We are offering pay well above award and depending on experience (including CPD and Super) but this job is about the opportunity to spend time getting the diagnostic skills you need for a rewarding lifetime career as a Veterinarian. It will suit a Veterinarian who loves and values their job and who is wanting to do the job we
loved as kids.

If your current job has too many speys, too difficult a culture, too many difficult Clients,  too little support or growth opportunities  and too few interesting Medical Cases then this position will suit you.

This may be your opportunity to join the team that is a great fit for you!  Don’t miss out!

Adrenaline!  Cool cases? A team where our motto is, ‘It’s a team sport?’, always having someone there to catch you or ask questions, getting remunerated dependent on your work ethics.

Who are we? People, mums, dads, recent/new grads, previously GP vets/shelter vets, members of the college, residents & EMMc specialists. We are people who graduated Veterinary Science but wanted more.

Are you interested, but not perhaps a little in doubt? We would love to invite you in, behind the doors, to hang with us in ‘the trenches’ to meet us, our nurses and Client care team, to find out what we do and why we stay up overnight.

Are you worried about sole charge, or not being ‘good enough’.  Are you struggling with imposter syndrome, or concerned that you do not know enough?  We are invested in helping you to grow, to develop the knowledge.  We always have someone awake, or just a phone call away to give you support and advice.

Who am I?
Lisa Brumby Veterinary Manager of a team of 30 veterinarians, at AES Carrara.

“I am looking to expand our team with like-minded people. I have 2 children, aged 7 and 8.  Started as a shelter veterinarian, and have worked in emergency since July 2010.  I would like to invite you into our 24 hour emergency hospital, to show case to you, our team, our culture, what we do, and of course all the ‘toys’.  We have referenced treatment guidelines to help you but avoid the idea of treatment protocols as believe that every team member will always do their best to treat each patient and client within their limitations – emotionally and financially”.

Our People, Our Practice:

We are privileged to work alongside the Veterinary Specialist Services Internal Medicine, Surgical, Cardiology, Dermatology and Dentistry Teams.

Our Animal Emergency Australia Veterinary Departments have Specialist ECC veterinarians, and we are currently training ECC Residents at both our Carrara and Underwood branches.

Our clinicians are exposed to and assisted by our experience veterinarians to become proficient in ventilating tick paralysis, snake, cardiology and trauma patients, that we get to use all year round. We currently have 5 ventilators at the Gold Coast clinic alone!!!!

The pay: You are rewarded the harder you work, with our senior team members earning 180k+.

The hours: We are open Monday to Thursday 6pm-8am and 24/7 Friday 6pm to Monday 8am. For the right personalities we would consider 8-30 hours/week. We believe that given our hours of operation, above this would lead to burn out.

A note from Dr Jas, one of our full-time vets:

Just some of the reasons I love working at Bli Bli Vet…

“Awesome supportive team. Everyone gets along well and every week at the meeting we give out positive feedback and chocolates.”

“Heaps of support staff with a consult nurse in all consults allowing vets to focus on the vet things and less on the admin side. This also means we don’t have to go running around the clinic looking for someone to hold when the owner is hopeless…”

“We always get a lunch break and time for follow up calls! The schedule also always has reserve spots to allow for emergency appointments or time for a breather if they don’t get booked. We have no after hours and 2 great emergency/referral centres nearby which are also great to ask for advice.”

“Our clinic has a great standard of care, and compliant clients. We finish at closing time and only open til 6pm or 12pm on Saturdays. And if you do happen to do a bit of overtime (which isn’t much!), you get paid for every hour you work. None of this salary *stuff*.”

This role will be suitable for a veterinarian with at least 1 year of clinical experience. We’re confident we can help you develop clinically, so it’s more important to us to find someone personable and fun who’s going to fit into our team and help us continue to grow our practice.

The ability to build rapport with clients and communicate confidently is essential.

We encourage vets to focus on their strengths and interests and are open to discussion around what sort of role suits you best. Whether it’s a consulting only role, exclusively surgical role, diagnostic imaging, behaviour, dentistry or palliative care role you’re interested in, we’re confident that our practice could be the ideal place for you.

What we’re offering:

We’re offering a generous above-award financial package for the right person - $80,000 - $100,000 commensurate with experience. We have a performance-based bonus system for our veterinary team as well to ensure there is more reward for the busy days. We also pay a CPD allowance and are open to negotiating any other incentive items that motivate you. Our practice model allows you to work alongside multiple experienced veterinarians, ensuring that you continue to develop new skills.

Please email all applications to ben@thcv.com.au . If you want some more information or want to organise a time to come see what we do, please call Ben on 0438 786 205.
