WEST FOOTSCRAY, INNER WEST MELBOURNE - SMALL ANIMAL

Do you love the challenge of surgery while enjoying good banter with the nurses?

And are you passionate about building loyal and trusting relationships with your clients?

Then we have the right job for you!

Our proudly independent small animal clinic located in the inner-west of Melbourne was founded in 2005 on the ethos of valuing all pets as members of the family. Originally just a house call service, it has grown to become a fully equipped 4 vet, 10 nurse practice. Due to client demand, the opportunity has become available to expand our veterinary team.

We wanted to create a practice that was as much about the people as it was about the animals. Over the years we have built a lovely and loyal client base who are more than happy to follow our recommendations. They expect and appreciate the elevated level of veterinary services and holistic care that we provide.  Our consultations times have been carefully curated to allow sufficient opportunity to discuss diagnostic and care plans.

Please click here to see photos! photos

Our village location allows us to feel a part of the local community and we work in collaboration with other local pet care businesses.

Self-care is important to us, so we ensure all our staff have the time and energy to enjoy life outside of work hours. There is no after hours, public holiday or on-call duties. There is very limited sole charge work as at least two vets are rostered in the clinic each day. Both our practice owners work full time in the business and are still passionate vets and strong patient advocates. Our diverse team of nurses and receptionists are kind, very experienced and always willing to lend a hand to whoever needs it.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and friendly team player who desires the freedom to pursue their special interests in surgery or dentistry. If you have the passion to exceed client expectations and the drive to produce excellent patient outcomes, then we would love to hear from you.

In return you will be part of a workplace community that promotes employee wellbeing, satisfaction, and retention. Our practice has secure off-street parking, offers generous staff discounts, and is conveniently located close to public transport, great coffee and multicultural cuisine.

If you would like to work at a practice where values are more than just a poster on the wall, then please forward your CV to vetcallpm@gmail.com

TARNEIT, CITY OF WYNDHAM, WESTERN MELBOURNE - SMALL ANIMAL New Position

Central Veterinary Clinic & Hospital, in Tarneit, Western Melbourne (near Werribee vet school), is a new independent clinic that first opened its doors on the 6th Oct 2023. Starting as a mobile business before that, we have a very busy and steady stream of clients. We operate as a regular clinic Monday to Friday and operate as an emergency clinic on Saturdays and Sundays. This means we see lots of interesting and varied cases. This includes a cat bitten by a snake just yesterday - late May of all times - brought back to normal after having a temperature below readable!

Our main vet has been practicing in small animal medicine for over 16 years. Our ethos is: excellence, empathy, and compassion. We believe in working up cases thoroughly to get the correct diagnosis and treatment from the start. This requires all the tools: xrays, ultrasound, full blood suite, including coagulation tests, blood matching, microscopy, tonometry, capnograph, blood pressure, multiple GA machines, oxygen cages, dental xray, and lots of varied medications... We have a lot.

We enjoy working up complex cases as well as doing all kinds of surgery. We've done your foreign bodies, cystotomies, pyometras, anal gland removal, cherry eye surgery, fracture plate repair, patella and cruciate surgeries, soft palate surgeries. We have all the tools and equipment.

Our nurses are highly dedicated and exceptional. I love our team and hope you will too! They make my life so much easier.

We are looking for someone who fits in well with the team. We want somebody with empathy, who treats animals and owners with respect and who sees themselves as part of a larger clinic team, to make everyone's working lives pleasant and rewarding, whilst helping owners and their animals through the various stages of life.

The position available is flexible, as in we are after the correct fit. Normal vet hours are 9 am until 6 or 8 pm, Monday to Friday, and 11 am until 10 pm Saturday and Sunday. Ideally, we are looking for midweek and weekend coverage. There can be flexibility with days and times to suit the right candidate. We will consider full-time, part-time, and casual applications.

This will necessarily be sole charge. The weekday shift involves morning and afternoon consults with surgery scheduled during the middle of the day. So, the candidate should be comfortable with sole charge consulting and surgery. Although I am available very frequently (via Telegram) for input if required. The weekend shifts involve some standard consults initially but then only emergencies for the rest of the day. This can involve anything - lots of blocked cats, stitch-ups, animals in heart failure, HGE, foreign bodies, caesarean sections etc. We do such emergency surgeries on weekends where necessary.

If you are interested, please send a cover letter and Cv to meredithcrowhurst@gmail.com.

The rate offered will depend on experience and ability, but we also hope that it will be high enough to make you feel appreciated and happy.

MAIDSTONE/AVONDALE HEIGHTS, INNER MELBOURNE - SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

1-2 positions – permanent part time Monday afternoons +/- Saturdays +/- Sundays.

We are looking for 1-2 Veterinarians to join our 11 Vet, 23 nurse team.  We have a mix of full time and part time staff with a couple of vets who work every now and then (maternity leave/other jobs etc..).

Experience is preferred however recent graduates are also welcome to apply.  The positions are based at the 2 practices which are within 5km of each other.  Applicants will work at one or both practices and work with at least one or two other experienced veterinarians, and 4-5 nurses at Maribyrnong, and 1 other experienced veterinarian and 3-4 nurses at Avondale Heights. There will be opportunities to work more shifts on other days should it be so desired given that someone is always on holidays.  We do our rosters 4 weeks in advance for 3 month blocks so the position can suit someone who has jobs elsewhere/locum work etc… and wants to forward plan their lives. Whilst we are looking for someone to work every Monday, the long term rostering allows for flexibility as well.

About us:

Maribyrnong is open 7 days per week, whilst Avondale Heights is open 5 weekdays and 3 hours on a Saturday morning.  The nurses at both practices are highly skilled and routinely take bloods, place catheters, perform radiographs, write clinical notes etc…  Nearly all staff rotate between the 2 practices.  PMS is Customerlogic which is super user friendly; we have DR xray, CR dental, capnographs, bear huggers, dental base, bp, inhouse path, and great referral services locally as well as visiting medical consultants and specialist surgeons on an approximate weekly visiting basis. A dedicated off-site Vet looks after our HR, and external payroll takes care of all things wage related.

No after hours. Daily lunch super important, so too coffee/chai/ English breakfast/green tea with or without jasmine and hot chocolate. There is a great cafe next door, and inhouse foodie and hot/cold beverage culture desired, but not essential. We try to make our workplaces as comfortable and stress free as possible, with plenty of staff on to do the job at all times, and pride ourselves on great customer care, a friendly supportive working environment and great Veterinary service.

HAMPTON PARK, SOUTH EAST MELBOURNE - SMALL ANIMAL

Hi, I’m Dr Cameron and I own Hampton Park Veterinary Hospital.

Ever been stumped trying to answer a question…?

Wracking your brain but coming up with nothing…?

For 28 years I have been solving medical problems for pets on a daily basis but this one question was so difficult to answer.

What was the question that stumped a Vet with 28 years experience…?

“Why should someone work with Dr Cameron and the team at Hampton Park Veterinary Hospital?”

Now I wasn’t stumped because it’s such a terrible place to work but because it was easy to answer the obvious things…

The team…
The clients…
The facilities…

But those things are what I feel every other practice owner seems to say.

What stumped me was being able to truly articulate what makes us unique (we Vets are traditionally very modest!).

So, just like when I get stumped by the answer to a medical puzzle I turned to colleagues, clients and specialists for some insight.

Here is what they said…

“Integrity and honesty underpins all their relationships.”
We pride ourselves on doing the right things the right way for the pets, their owners and those who are part of my team

“Fairness.”
Everyone client and team member is treated equally and respectfully.

“Compassion.”
Apparently there hasn’t been a day I haven’t gone home talking about the clients and pets that came through the consult room or surgery.

Caring is a verb not an adjective.

“Ambition.”
I have always set myself lofty goals and targets and I love to take others along for the ride and help them to do the same.

“Commitment.”
Even after 28 years I still love to continue to tweak and make improvements to my skills and how we do what we do.

What might you take from this..?

If you join the team I go to bat for you. You will be well supported to achieve the goals you have for yourself and evolve into the best Veterinarian you can be.

If you join the team your voice will count. We are a small but tight knit group where everyone contributes valuably to delivering excellent service.

If you join the team you will be treated well. If there is one thing I have learnt it is to value ourselves as professionals and the skills and service we deliver.

Of course, if you join the team there is the usual stuff I mentioned earlier too…

Not forgetting excellent remuneration based on experience.

If joining a team that is led with these guiding principles as their north star sounds attractive then we should talk.

You will be perfect if…

I am really looking for someone who is committed to cementing their career with us.

The good news is that you will be able to do this AND work part time. It is a role suited to you if you are keen for 20 to 25 hours per week.

We are pretty flexible with how this works although it requires a regular Saturday morning shift.

Unlike most other jobs going I’m not going to ask for a CV or a cover letter (well not right away…).

If you are keen to learn more let’s have a no strings attached chat and explore what the future might look like. If it’s something worth exploring further I am sure we will both know it!

Send me an email at cameron@hamptonparkvets.com.au  or a text on 0493 248 187 and we can go from there.

KEW, INNER EAST MELBOURNE - ECC VET FULL-TIME/PART-TIME

Advanced Vetcare Kew/Kensington

Experienced Emergency Veterinarian - full-time, part-time positions available

Are you an experienced ECC veterinarian looking for an exciting opportunity in the eastern or inner western suburbs of Melbourne? We are excited to offer a position for an experienced emergency veterinarian which can be at our Kew or Kensington clinics, or a mixed role between the clinics. The emergency departments are the heart of the clinic, working alongside our specialist medicine, surgery and oncology services.

Join Our Team

Our team includes multiple ANZCVS Emergency Membership veterinarians, many with 10+ years of emergency experience, who support our associate veterinarians, interns and skilled nursing team.

We pride ourselves on our ability to provide a reliable and high-quality service to both the public and our referring vet clinics. We foster a collaborative environment with an emphasis on teamwork and learning. We are committed to high standards of customer and patient care and maintaining a sustainable work-life balance.

Why Advanced Vetcare?

Advanced Vetcare Kensington has been delivering veterinary referral and emergency services to Melbourne's pets for almost 20 years. It is a well-established multi-discipliniary hospital offering surgery, oncology and internal medicine specialist services as well as 24 hour emergency services. We are excited that Advanced Vetcare Kew is now offering a 24-hour emergency service to join our multidisciplinary team.

Our Kew hospital is a state-of-the-art, purpose-built 24-hour ECC and referral facility which is fantastically located in the inner eastern suburbs along the main Yarra trail. Great if you plan to ride your bike to work or enjoy eating your lunch by the river.

We are proud, independently-owned veterinary hospitals with a commitment to the highest standards of veterinary care and customer service. We exist as an extension of our referring vet practices for the joint care of shared patients. Join a team that values its people and sees diversity and inclusion as more than just policy. You will have the opportunity to play a key role in creating an ECC department and culture that you want to be a part of.

You will have access to advanced medical technology, including intensive care ventilators, blood gas analysis, cage-side ultrasound, and on-site CT. Our vets and nurses work collaboratively to provide excellent patient care.
