Enjoy being a Vet…?

Want a role that enables you to align passionately with a real purpose?
I’m Dr Cameron and I’m the owner of Hampton Park Vets...
When I was 14, I boldly announced to the world my aspirations to either be a Vet or a Dairy Farmer…
And given that I am not a morning person, my options were kinda limited…
About 10 years ago I purchased Hampton Park Vet hospital...
I wanted to create a place where people loved to come to work...
Whereas a team we enjoyed pursuing our passions with a real purpose...
And we delivered excellence to the pets we served (of course!).
Since my first day, 10 years ago, I am well on the way to creating that place (not to mention the clinic has more than doubled in size!).
For me, being a successful practitioner is all about connection...To connect, cultivate and nurture a great vet -owner/pet relationship. I thought I was well past 18th birthday parties but was recently invited to another … a patient’s…. yep, a human party for their beloved pet.
That's the connection I'm talking about.
That is the purpose I pursue passionately.
I am looking for a Vet to join the team & help continue building upon the vision…
It's perfect if you are...
- A people person! We love the owners not just their pets
- Experienced. We are a busy clinic, and you will need to be experienced enough to run your own cases / surgeries);

- Well-practised in having fun at work!
The basic perks of the job…
- Full time with no after-hours.

- Investment in you to support further learning in all different areas;
- And we will happily pay you well for the value you bring!
If you are from overseas and have commensurate qualifications allowing registration in Australia, sponsorship can be arranged .
Salary Range $80,000 -$125,000 p.a. depending on experience and value you bring
So – if you think this might be for you send me an email at application@hamptonparkvets.com.au
Let's have a chat...
If it's worth exploring further, we will both know it!
IVANHOE, NORTH-EAST MELBOURNE - SMALL ANIMAL
***** FULL TIME VETERINARIAN WANTED *****
*********** MELBOURNE, VICTORIA ************
Vet wanted at Ivanhoe Vet Clinic.
Great standard of care for animals (and humans too).
If you’re looking to deliver the best outcomes for your patients, be supported as part of a team, be appreciated by your employer and enjoy exceptional workplace conditions, we’d love you to join us.
We place an extremely high value on our vets – so we pay accordingly.
You’ll be given the freedom to practice your way, with support available when you need it. We have a culture of learning from each other and look forward to hearing about your special area of interest. An interest in ultrasonography, or a willingness to do further studies in this area, would be well regarded but not essential.
We have 30 minute consultations as standard, don’t place KPIs on our staff and have all the equipment you’d expect and need (and if we don’t, we’ll get it).
We understand that you have a life outside of work so we don’t ask for after hours, we don’t work Sundays or public holidays, and we have a roster for Saturday mornings (8:30-1pm only). If you need to leave early or start late, just let us know in advance.
We’re looking for a vet who’ll practice the highest standards of medicine, and share our vision of becoming the best GP clinic in Melbourne.
But enough from us – hear from one of our vets.
Do you leave on time? – Almost always. We’re rostered on for less hours than we’re paid for to make up for anything that keeps you back, but normally I’m walking out the door 10 minutes max after my shift ends.
Professional development – Actually happens. I’m trying to learn extra-capsular cruciate repairs, so the nurses automatically block me out to scrub in when these are booked. No ‘we’re too busy today’– it’s a priority.
Can you refer stuff? – Please do!! We work things up where we can, but we have a culture of asking specialists for advice and refer when needed. No trying to diagnose the weird neuro thing all by yourself – that’s what the specialists are for!
Well paid? – Absolutely.
Support staff – Well trained, efficient, super supportive nurses who are consummate professionals – no tricky politics to navigate here!
Vets – All experienced, positive vets who are always happy to chat, discuss cases, and generally support you.
The clients – Friendly, supportive clients who want what’s best for their pet. Many are insured. There’s a business manager to deal with any (rare) issues. Any disrespectful clients get shown the doggy door.
Follow-up time – Block this off as you need for call backs or to look things up. Not in the same timeslot as ‘lunch break’ as these are not the same thing.
Lunch breaks – Paid. A priority. Happens daily. Enough said.
If this sounds too good to be true, it’s not! We are expanding our team and are here and hiring.
Interested or even just curious, call Simon for a STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL chat on 0405 413 992 or email me at simon@ivanhoevet.com.au.

We work with a range of visiting specialists and pride ourselves on our low stress patient handling, excellent client communication and working with clients to provide the best level of care they can afford for their pets, rather than enforcing ‘gold-standard’ care on everyone. MITCHAM, EASTERN MELBOURNE - SMALL ANIMAL, ER & DAY CLINIC, NEW PRACTICE
New Position
Small animal vet Full time/ Part time
Vetland Mitcham is looking for an ordinary vet striving for the extraordinary
Yes, we are not looking for a super star. We are a bunch of ordinary vets treading on territory where few have been before and are achieving the extraordinary. We have worked together for a few years and trust each other and the concept enough that we are opening the door for someone to join us. Each of us has an area of passion and we would like to be able to recognise that in our new colleague.
We have just opened our new, purpose built clinic which includes a full rehab centre with a pool and underwater treadmill, cat only consult rooms and high and low care cat hospital wards, dental, general and ultra sterile theatres, CT and X-rays rooms.
There are quirky duplex restrooms on site that can be used after night shifts with separate shower and bathroom facilities.
The Pet cafe and cat interaction area will be opening later this year.
There is a family area where kids can come after school to do homework while waiting for mum and dad to finish with work.
We are a 24/7 hospital and see a full range of cases. From puppy vaccination to bizarre emergencies . Because we are a team, you will be expected to be part of the full range of cases coming in. We are used to supporting each other and plenty of on hand support will be offered to anyone who needs it.
We offer the same as anyone else on this site and won’t be boring you with that stuff.
Let’s talk more about the differences:
- We can accommodate an overseas small animal veterinarian who has passed the MCQ and who is preparing to sit the practical exam, but this is only open for an experienced small animal clinician. We can provide a two year, short term visa which (if your paperwork is in order) can be approved within 2 months. This can be extended to help with PR once qualified.
- To be able to feel comfortable in this environment, 2 years is the minimum experience otherwise required.
- If you are fascinated by rehab that will be appreciated but till the time the rehab can create its own cases and income, being part of the clinical team (that means hours, cases and shifts) is a prerequisite.
If this has pricked your interest, please contact recruitment@vetsinc.com.au
And as a footnote, I am adding the boring stuff:
We offer:
- A wide and varied medical and surgical caseload
- A wide range of equipment is available including a full in-house laboratory with HM5,VS2,Vcheck, I-Stat and clotting times. We have a high definition X-ray machine, CT , fluoroscope and endoscope. We do PRP,stem cells and laser treatments.
- 1 week’s paid study leave
- We are open 24/7 and will need a clinician who is flexible regarding roster.
- Significantly above market rate remuneration for the right candidate ($120-$170k), depending on experience)
- For the right candidate we also offer sponsorship and a Visa for you and your dependents, and even a relocation allowance, if applicable.

The centre is well-equipped with major renovations planned and an ever-expanding inventory including: imaging (Siemens 16-slice CT, new Siemens digital radiography, digital subtraction fluoroscopy, Phillips affinity and POC ultrasound machines, regular off-site access to 3T MRI imaging), critical care (Menios oxygen cages, Getinge Servo-u ventilator, AIRVO 2), laboratory (Radiometer blood-gas machine, IDEXX Procyte haematology, Catalyst biochemistry and coagulation machines) and other equipment such as Olympus endoscopy and advanced anaesthesia monitoring.
The Position
The Emergency & Critical Care Department at CARE enjoys a consistently busy caseload (estimated 15,000 consultations per year) that encompasses an interesting and broad range of presentations. It offers significant opportunity for:
- The development of clinical interests
- Collegiate interaction with other specialist and residency-trained staff in case management and professional development
- Contribution to the evolution of the service to international standards
- Involvement in the mentorship and training of junior staff.
There is considerable scope for choice of, and between, these activities in the definition of the role and to this extent we are completely negotiable. The following criteria though, are key for a successful applicant:
- American or European Board certification, Australian and New Zealand Fellowship or completion of a Residency training program in Emergency and Critical Care
- A serious and genuine commitment to the application of existing knowledge and skills for the benefit of patient care and the patient care team
- Personal compatibility and cooperative integration with our existing team, particularly Dr Christine Lovatt, who is the senior clinician in the service, and other specialists within the hospital
- A shared appreciation of, and respect for, our core values, including the pursuit of excellence in patient and client care
- Effective, conscientious and considerate written and verbal communication, whether it be with clients, referring veterinary staff or hospital staff within CARE
The structure of the working hours of this position is negotiable with the general expectation that it would not involve over-night or weekend shifts, although occasional weekend shifts or provision of remote complex case support may be necessary. It is a senior clinical position that is intended to provide support and guidance of the clinical staff in their care and treatment of referred and primary accession cases presented to the Emergency & Critical Care Department. To this end, the role is cooperatively and constructively supported by a strong team of specialists in surgery and internal medicine achieving a multidisciplinary synergism that we all value. Beyond this, participation in, and contribution to, our in-house continuing education events, including regular tutorials, rounds and journal club meetings would be strongly encouraged.
Work at CARE
The successful applicant will enjoy:
- A generous remuneration package plus superannuation, CPD allowance, and paid leave entitlements (conference, holiday, and personal leave).
- Involvement in, and active contribution to, a cooperative team of like-minded professionals
- Great staff amenities including complimentary snacks, beverages, espresso coffee from some of the best roasters in Melbourne, and fresh fruit.
- Opportunities for continuing professional development.
- A workplace community that promotes employee wellbeing, satisfaction, and retention.
- Access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), providing free and confidential counselling.
- The potential for relocation assistance and visa sponsorship if appropriate
- The excitement and challenges that come with our interesting and varied hospital caseload.
- Generous discounts on hospital products and services.
- An easy commute to work, thanks to our proximity to multimodal public transport and major arterial freeways. Secure off-street staff car parking is available.
- A centrally located workplace in one of Melbourne's most exciting lifestyle precincts.

- Rotation through other departments of the hospital, specifically surgery and internal medicine for the further development of knowledge and skills in these areas. - Mentorship by senior veterinarians, supervised by the ECC Clinical Educator and specialist, Dr Sarah Haldane and our ECC registrar, Dr Christine Lovatt.
- Encouragement, support and provision for preparation for Membership examinations of the Australian and New Zealand College (if eligible) or other post-graduate training opportunities.

- We are one of the few clinics where is it possible to live in the "city" and do mixed animal practice
- Our nurses are well-trained to look after us, not over-book and give us enough time for consults, phone calls and catch-ups. Lunchtimes and home-times are considered sacred, and we almost always get out on time. If you want to leave the clinic to go for a walk or pick up lunch at lunchtime, that is almost always possible.
- Doing on-call is an opportunity to serve the local community, to gain unique experience, learn to think on your feet and see some cool cases, but we also have the ability to refer small animal emergencies to 24-hour centres so they can receive the best of care (which also means on-call isn't overly busy)
- As we see such a variety of animals and cases, there is definitely the ability for vets to develop a special interest - anything from alpacas, or equine dentistry, or small animal behaviour. But otherwise, this is an awesome clinic to become a well-rounded mixed animal practitioner, with vets experienced in different areas to provide support and guidance.
- Our large animal work is often for clients who keep a small number of these animals as pets, and so individual diagnostics and treatment are often pursued, but there is also the scope for doing some herd health work if vets are interested
- We have the ability both to work-up and treat complicated cases in-house, and use travelling specialists, but also, we commonly refer and have excellent relationships with specialist centres
- Our clients are generally excellent, usually very respectful and keen to do the best for their animals. As a small independent practice, we have many clients that have been coming to the clinic for decades and value the personalised care we can provide for their animals.
- We are a very casual, friendly, chatty bunch. We work hard but have fun. The radio plays out the back. We often sit and have lunch together. The vet team are very supportive and approachable and share cases and ideas and ask each other for help commonly.
Please contact Jackie at jhall@thevetsurgery.com.au or at the Yarrambat Veterinary Hospital 03 9436 1699 to register your interest or to further discuss the position.
