Casey Pet Emergency is looking for an experienced veterinarian to join our team of 11 full and part-time vets at our privately owned emergency and critical care hospital in South-East Melbourne.

Ideally, we'd love to find a senior emergency veterinarian who is ready for their next step and wants a role with genuine clinical scope, autonomy and career potential.

For the right person, we are absolutely prepared to invest in the role and create a meaningful progression pathway around your experience, strengths and longer-term goals.

We're also very open to experienced GP or ECC vets with 3+ years in practice who have strong foundations and want to sharpen their emergency skills, broaden their case exposure and grow into a confident ECC clinician with plenty of support around them.

Good systems make busy medicine better

Emergency work will always have busy moments. Good workflow makes a massive difference.

We've invested in systems and processes that help cases move smoothly from triage through diagnostics, hospitalisation, treatment, handover and discharge.

Flexible, but with enough structure to make it work

We are open to both full-time and part-time positions.

You might want regular days every week, a predictable part-time arrangement or a broader shift-work role.

Typical shifts are around 8–10 hours.

We do need some weekend availability, generally around 2 in 3 Saturdays or alternate weekends, depending on the role and final roster structure.

RINGWOOD, EASTERN MELBOURNE - ECC INTERNSHIP New Position

ECC Internship - Melbourne Animal Specialist Hospital

15-month Emergency and Critical Care Internship • Starting November 2026 • Ringwood, Melbourne

Great emergency medicine is our starting point, not our point of difference - every good hospital delivers it. What sets MASH apart is the service around it: we explain the reasoning behind every recommendation and invite the conversation, we tell owners plainly about prognosis and cost, and we never judge the decision an owner makes. We turn ourselves inside-out to make their hard day easier. An internship is where you learn to do both of those at once: the medicine, and the conversation. If that is the vet you want to become, you will be right at home here.

The internship

We are looking for an energetic and hard-working vet with at least 12 months in general or mixed practice to join our Emergency and Critical Care internship, starting November 2026 and running for 15 months.

You will work alongside our experienced emergency clinicians and specialists across ECC, Small Animal Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Internal Medicine and Anaesthesia. This is a mentored role by design - you are here to become a better emergency vet, not just to fill a roster gap.

How the internship runs

The majority of your shifts are rostered alongside one of our two Emergency and Critical Care specialists or one of our four ANZCVS members in emergency medicine. Guidance is there on the case in front of you, at the time you need the answer - not at a case review three days later.
You progress into managing your own cases as the internship goes on, with the specialist team and senior emergency clinicians around you.
Night shifts come in during the last third of the internship, once you are well established.
The roster runs in six-week blocks and averages a minimum of 32 hours a week, with a mix of day consulting, swing and weekend shifts. You have every second weekend off.

About MASH

Melbourne Animal Specialist Hospital (MASH) is a privately owned, patient-focused and fully independent 24-hour emergency and referral hospital in Ringwood, just off EastLink and twenty minutes from the inner suburbs. We opened in 2023 and have grown into a premier referral provider with specialists in emergency and critical care, small animal surgery, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging and anaesthesia. The facility is purpose-built and has everything you would expect of a specialist hospital: on-site CT, digital radiology, a separate ultrasound suite, fluoroscopy, rigid and flexible endoscopy, two theatres, an ICU with oxygen cages and ventilators, separate cat and dog wards, and a full in-house IDEXX laboratory with Radiometer blood gas analysis.

The team around you

Dr Merrin Hicks (FANZCVS), one of our Emergency and Critical Care specialists, leads our ECC internship program and takes an active role in developing the clinicians around her. You will also work alongside Dr Alison Stickney (DACVIM) in Internal Medicine, Dr Ralph Webster (DACVS-SA) in Surgery, Dr Mara Schier (DipECVAA) in Anaesthesia and Dr Natalie Webster (DipECVDI) in Diagnostic Imaging.

Our nursing team is highly experienced and genuinely supportive, and the ECC vet team around you is deep in emergency experience.

What we are looking for

A veterinary degree registrable in Victoria.
At least 12 months' experience in small animal general practice or mixed practice.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - with owners, referring vets and the team.
Strong time management, and the ability to hold several things at once without dropping any of them.
A collaborative approach and a genuine appetite to learn.

Remuneration includes shift loadings for swing, weekend and night shifts. On a typical intern roster that works out at approximately $110,000 – $120,000 a year plus superannuation.
All of your continuing education is provided for by MASH, in-house. Regular tutorials with our specialists, structured teaching and case-based learning are built into the internship.

The hospital equipment is state of the art and includes onsite, CT, Fluoroscopy, state of the art Storz Near Infra Red Fluorescence Imaging, Olympus flexible endoscopy unit with complete set of flexible and rigid scopes. Video otoscope, Ultrasound, DR radiography, multiparameter patient monitoring, ventilators, blood gas, coagulation, haematology and biochemistry machines, Electrochemotherapy and Chemotherapy suite.

Pay and Conditions

Clinical Knowledge & Equipment

Perform or supervise the placement and management of enteral feeding tubes, urinary catheters, drainage systems, and other clinical devices.
Proficiency in point-of-care ultrasonography, including AFAST assessment, highly regarded.
Experience managing oncology and cytotoxic therapy patients is highly regarded, however we can provide training on this if not already experienced.

Northcote Paws Veterinary Clinic is looking for a vet with a minimum of 5 years experience to join our team, working 2-3 days per week. You would be joining 4 experienced vets (all 10 years +) and our new graduate veterinarian. Our ideal candidate would have an interest in surgery and/or dentistry, and you will need to be confident in these areas.

We are an independently owned clinic with a great reputation in the local area and lovely clients. We focus on providing personalised care for pets with a “spectrum of care” approach. There are no KPIs or upselling! We are a busy clinic with a high caseload, and we aim for a supportive, positive working environment where we look after each other and have fun.

We moved to our new location on St Georges Rd in 2025 and have been enjoying the perks of a freshly renovated and fitted out building since. It's a compact building, but we fit a lot in! We always aim to practice high quality, evidence-based and up to date medicine, and continuing education is expected and encouraged.

You would be joining vets with interests in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Dermatology and Behaviour and a fantastic team of experienced, qualified, and now mostly registered nurses.

The clinic is well equipped with Canon DR digital radiology, IM3 CR digital dental radiology and dental suite, video otoscope, gastroscope, Tonovet plus, Idexx Catalyst bloods, Doppler and ultrasound. We have a separate sterile surgery with good anaesthetic support with bear hugger and multi parameter anaesthetic monitoring including capnography. We do a lot in house but use a visiting specialist, roaming surgeons and refer when appropriate.

The clinic is open Monday - Friday 8am-6:30pm and Saturday 9-3pm. Vets work Saturdays as part of a 1:5 rotating roster (changing to 1:6 in 2027) and there are no out of hours, Sundays or Public Holidays. Usual shifts are 8 hours long, with breaks during the day for follow up as well as lunch.

Remuneration is negotiable and from $120 000 per annum (pro rata) with a CPD allowance, 4 weeks annual leave and 1 week study leave (pro rata). CVE practice membership and iCatCare/ISFM practice membership is included.

Your Role

To care for your patients while providing empathy to our friendly clients. You will be supported by two highly experienced membership qualified GPs and our friendly team of wonderful nurses who love their work. In consults a vet nurse will assist allowing you to focus on your patients. Afterhours calls are directed to a nearby Emergency Centre with whom we enjoy an excellent relationship.

You will participate in the rotating Saturday morning roster, but we're closed Sundays and Public Holidays. About the role:

This is a Victoria based position, with VicVet in Whittlesea as your primary clinical hub. VicVet provides specialist level support, including advanced imaging and CT, and will act as the central base for case workups, surgical planning and continuity of care.

From there, you will work across the Apiam network, supporting clinics through both referral-based case management and targeted in clinic visits. Travel will be structured and purposeful, with a strong connection back to VicVet for imaging, case planning and follow up.

In this role, you will:

Perform advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries, both at VicVet and across selected clinics
Support and grow internal referral pathways into VicVet
Work closely with clinic teams to plan and manage complex cases
Help clinics retain and manage more advanced cases within the Apiam network
Provide hands on, in clinic training to veterinarians through real cases
Mentor clinicians to build both surgical skills and clinical decision making

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys both surgery and developing others, and who values variety in their work.

What you will be doing:

Deliver a high standard of advanced surgery across small animal clinics
Perform complex soft tissue procedures and orthopaedics, including TPLOs

You are an experienced small animal veterinarian with strong surgical skills and confidence in managing complex cases.

Extensive experience in advanced soft tissue surgery

MAIDSTONE/AVONDALE HEIGHTS, INNER MELBOURNE - SMALL ANIMAL

Multiple positions possible – Casual, permanent part time. Not a freshly minted new graduate position this time round….

We are looking for a 1-3 Veterinarians to join our 10 Vet, 23 nurse team. We have a mix of full time and part time staff with a couple of vets who work every now and then (maternity leave/other jobs etc..). Experience is required, however recent graduates are also welcome to apply. For recent graduates, a years experience would be the minimum, as whilst there is lots of support and back up provided, the job is not a new graduate training position. Vets are based at the 2 practices which are within 5km of each other. Applicants will work at one or both practices and work with at least one or two other experienced veterinarians, and 4-5 nurses at Maribyrnong, and 1 other experienced veterinarian and 3-4 nurses at Avondale Heights. We do our rosters 4 weeks in advance for 3 month blocks so the position can suit someone who has jobs elsewhere/locum work etc… and wants to forward plan their lives. Any day of the week can be worked by mutual arrangement, and the long term rostering allows for this flexibility.

About us:

Maribyrnong is open 7 days per week, whilst Avondale Heights is open 5 weekdays and 3 hours on a Saturday morning. Our nurses routinely take bloods, place catheters, perform radiographs, write clinical notes etc… Nearly all staff rotate between the 2 practices. PMS is Customerlogic which is super user friendly; we have DR xray, CR dental, capnographs, bear huggers, dental base, bp, inhouse path, and great referral services locally as well as visiting medical consultants and specialist surgeons on an approximate weekly visiting basis. A dedicated off-site Vet looks after our HR, and external payroll takes care of all things wage related.

No after hours. Daily lunch super important, so too coffee/chai/ English breakfast/green tea with or without jasmine and hot chocolate. There is a great cafe next door, and inhouse foodie and hot/cold beverage culture desired, but not essential. We try to make our workplaces as comfortable and stress free as possible, with plenty of staff on to do the job at all times, and pride ourselves on great customer care, a friendly supportive working environment and great Veterinary service. Naughty clients are weeded out….

An ability to work independently (but support is always around). For those less experienced, common sense to ask when not sure, teamwork and most importantly being nice and friendly.

Yarra Ranges Animal Hospital is looking for a permanent part-time small animal veterinarian to join our friendly, locally owned practice in the beautiful Yarra Valley.

Yarra Ranges Animal Hospital is a well-established, locally owned veterinary practice with our main hospital in Lilydale and a branch clinic in Yarra Glen.

Our Lilydale hospital is very well equipped, with all the latest toys to support high-quality general practice care and case work-up. Equipment includes video endoscopy, DR radiography, MyLab ultrasonography and in-house clinical pathology.

The Role

We are offering a permanent part-time position, ideally around 2–3 days per week, with flexibility around days and hours for the right person.

The role is primarily small animal general practice and may include consulting, general medicine, routine surgery, dentistry and case work-up, depending on your interests, experience and confidence.

Some shared Saturday morning shifts are included, from 9am–1pm.

There is no after-hours or on-call work.

About You

We are looking for a veterinarian who is kind, capable and enjoys being part of a supportive team.

You may be an experienced small animal vet looking for a long-term part-time position, a parent returning to the workforce, a vet seeking more flexible hours, or someone wanting to re-enter clinical practice in a supportive environment.

Ideally, you will have:

General practice small animal experience
Good communication and client relationship skills
A compassionate and practical approach to patient care
The ability to work well as part of a team
Current registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria

Most importantly, you will value being part of a clinic where the team genuinely enjoys working together and caring for the local community.
