Lead Veterinary Surgeon - Full or Part Time

Grantham Vets4Pets have an exciting opportunity for an experienced vet to join their team!

This exciting opportunity will allow the successful candidate to work up a varied caseload with a mixture of animals. The surgery is purpose built with digital x-ray, ultrasound, Idexx Lab inhouse and multi pram monitoring.

The practice holds RCVS GP status and has received 'Outstanding' rating in client care, 'Good' in in-patient care in the PSS awards. We have also been  at the forefront of colleague wellness and previously received a 'Highly Commended' in the Veterinary Wellbeing awards.

This is a full or part time role, which will include Saturday's on a rota basis working between 8.30am-12 noon. There is no OOH requirement and we are closed on Sunday's allowing for an excellent work/life balance.

At Newark Vets for Pets we're offering a salary to £65,000 for an experienced Vet to join our established and friendly team.

By joining us, we will help you develop your career and pursue any area of interest with guidance and support from both practice colleagues and our highly experienced regional team.

Our surgery is purpose built to deliver the highest clinical standards and provides excellent facilities including a lab area with equipment for biochemistry, haematology, microscopy and urinalysis and three separate wards. You'll have access to all the equipment and space you need to care for your patients. We already have a loyal client base with the potential for further growth, and cases can be worked up locally giving you the opportunity to develop any specific interests you have, with certification encouraged and fully funded.

Our team have varied interests and are highly skilled, including a vet GDP and a CertVNECC qualified nurse. We also take the health of our team as seriously as pet health and have a trained First Aider and Mental Health First Aider in practice, along with a supportive Practice Manager/HRVN. We're looking for a vet with strong small animal experience, gained as a general practitioner, as well as excellent people skills. Specialist interests and postgraduate qualifications are welcomed and supported, but not necessary to the role.

This is a full-time role with Saturdays on a 1 in 4 rota basis, making it fair for everyone.

The successful candidate should be competent in all aspects of equine reproduction such as AI (Fresh, Chilled & Frozen); Embryo Transfer; Foaling; Foal Medicine; Semen Collection, Processing & Freezing and ideally OPU. 

The candidate should also be confident with routine on call duties, such as colics, stitch-ups and basic lameness.  This position offers an exciting and challenging case load as well as the opportunity to be involved with leading the field in advanced reproduction techniques.

The position requires excellent client & team communication skills and competence with both written and verbal English.  The candidate must be eligible for RCVS membership.  Competitive renumeration package on offer, commensurate with experience.
