EXPERIENCED REPRODUCTION VET

Full / Part Time (Permanent / Seasonal) Experienced Equine Reproduction RCVS eligible Vet required at Tomlinson Equine to add to our reproduction vet team for the 2024 Breeding Season and beyond. We are a busy specialist equine reproduction centre combined with a clinical ambulatory vet practice based in Gloucestershire looking for an accomplished equine reproduction vet to join our 5-vet team.

The successful candidate should be competent in all aspects of equine reproduction such as AI (Fresh, Chilled & Frozen); Embryo Transfer; Foaling; Foal Medicine; Semen Collection, Processing & Freezing and ideally OPU.

The candidate should also be confident with routine on call duties, such as colics, stitch-ups and basic lameness. This position offers an exciting and challenging case load as well as the opportunity to be involved with leading the field in advanced reproduction techniques.

The position requires excellent client & team communication skills and competence with both written and verbal English. Competitive renumeration package on offer, commensurate with experience.

VETERINARY SURGEON

We are searching for a vet to join our lovely team on the beautiful island of Guernsey.

Our 98% companion animal practice provides all the necessary equipment and facilities, including CT and hydrotherapy, to look after the large numbers of animals owned by our discerning clientele.

There is the advantage of 4.5 day week, a 1 in 8 on call rota and support by all team members including Certificate holders in surgery and equine subjects. We also have Vet GDP advisers.

Vets can work and develop in the area where they have most interest but also have the support of colleagues in areas where there is less experience. There is the opportunity to work up your own cases, to have days to operate, consult and do visits, something we feel is essential for personal development.

FALKLAND ISLANDS - MIXED PRACTICE New Position

An exciting opportunity exists in the South Atlantic for a full-time vet to join our small, busy and very varied practice in the Falkland Islands starting in July 2024.

The Role:

The Veterinary Services of the Falkland Islands Government invites applications for the post of Veterinary Officer.

The position consists of a combination of clinical and public health duties. The clinical work is truly mixed practice (60% small animals, 20% equine and 20% livestock) including occasional wildlife cases. The public health duties include working in the EU approved Abattoir and the Fishing Industry (mainly annual audits and inspections of vessels).

Routine hours are from 8am to 4:30pm, with a set lunch break between 12-1pm and the out of hours emergency service is worked on a 1:3 rota system.

The Person:

You should have at least 5 years' clinical experience. Ideally that will include livestock and/or equine work and small animal medicine and surgical skills. Previous public health experience is desirable, but not essential. You should preferably have Official Veterinarian qualifications or must be willing to obtain them.
You should be capable of working as part of a small dedicated team, be prepared to fill a varied role, and interact closely with the community of the Falkland Islands to provide a complete, professional, clinical and public health Veterinary Service.
If you are the right candidate you will have an appreciation of the outdoors and wildlife and a sensible and enthusiastic approach to veterinary medicine.

The team at Friarswood comes with a varied skill level, where everyone really has the chance to shine. Where required, we make use of visiting specialists to keep the experience in house with an aim to grow and develop talent within our own team. This also helps keep our clients bonded and allows us that continuity of care.

We have laparoscopic kit, brand new digital xray, dental xray and lots of other bits and bobs to make day to day life and work up of your cases easier. All supported by an experienced and supportive nursing team. Our wider team consists of cert holders in medicine along with vets and nurses working on their certifications.

Development of our people is important and we'd be keen to support you with any areas of interest, anyone looking at or working on a surgical certificate would complement the team very well.

We are blessed to be supported by an OOH provider and have no Sunday or Bank Holiday working.

Our vacancy is currently full time, but happy to discuss part time arrangements. Our full time vets prefer working 4 days a week but we are open to ideas that suit you! An hour for lunch and some admin time is given daily. Our vets do work Saturday mornings, the rotation works out to 2 in 7.

Our vets normally work 1 day at one of our other sites to help get to know the wider team and help share knowledge.
