This full-time position is part of our Companion Animal Community (first opinion) Practice. The Community Practice Service hosts a mandatory 3-week rotation in wellness, general, and preventive care. This includes medicine, basic dentistry, surgery, and shelter medicine with the goal of exposing final year veterinary students to a high-quality general practice environment. The majority of the caseload is canine and feline, but interest in small mammals is encouraged. The successful candidate must possess a strong commitment to excellence in patient care, service to clients, and clinical teaching, as well as strong leadership and communications skills. This is a clinical role with an emphasis on clinical instruction and patient care in the hospital. Time not assigned to clinical instruction and patient care on clinical rotations will be devoted to classroom/laboratory teaching, scholarship, and service. The Salary Range for this role is at a Practicing/Senior Practicing Veterinarian grade (for 2024), ranging from $81,172-$143,949 (NZD). Salary will be negotiable by background/experience.

Our Raglan clinic is a friendly mixed practice clinic and we are looking for a skilled and caring Companion Animal Vet to cover parental leave for 12 months. There is flexibility in this role to work five days per week, four days per week or a nine-day fortnight, depending on what works for you.

Our undergraduate class size has increased, and we are looking to expand our clinical skills teaching team at Tāwharau Ora - School of Veterinary Science. We have 1FTE available for either a Lecturer or a Professional Clinician in Skills-based education. Check out your future with us.

As the successful applicant, you will teach veterinary students in our brand-new clinical skills laboratory, particularly in simulation-based education, using a range of both low and high-fidelity patient models. You will help students develop their technical skills and clinical acumen in advance of their clinical placements.

In this role, no two days are the same, and creativity is encouraged – you will be drawing on your clinical experience to help create learning scenarios, including homemade models, online learning materials, and interactive simulated patient scenarios. There’s also no on-call!

The salary range spanning both roles is $81,172 - $143,949 (NZD). Salary will be negotiable by background/experience.

Prebbleton is halfway down the East Coast of the South Island, in a growing affluent satellite village on the western flank of Christchurch city, with a wide range of new housing for sale and rent.

Our clientele is varied - racing, sport, and pleasure horses, 90% within 25km of the clinic.

Ski slopes are 90 mins away, 30 mins to the beach or some lovely hill walks and 4-5 hrs from some amazing world class hiking. Christchurch, New Zealand’s 2nd largest city (about the size of Leicester) has good restaurants, theatres, and excellent schools in a compact area.

Our clinic is proudly privately owned, and you would be joining 2 experienced colleagues with a third to return in a year: a specialist equine surgeon visits monthly.

The small animal department has 3 vets and a dedicated nursing staff.
You will be mostly working independently but have backup from your experienced colleagues and vet techs. 85% of the work is ambulatory.

Our vets are an international collection and are all happy to have a chat about the practice and living/working in NZ. We pride ourselves on being part of the local community sponsoring horse events and projects within the village.

We can supply accommodation for up to six weeks and assist with travel costs to get to Southland. A vehicle will also be supplied and can be used for personal use for the first four weeks.

We will have 19 vets over calving, 3 more will ensure a great work life balance for everyone. This role would suit someone with at least two years experience.
