About the Role
Our preference would be for a full-time veterinary surgeon, but have scope to accommodate a part-time role for the right candidate.
We are open 8.30am-5.30pm, with no weekend clinics and we strive for a 1-in-6 OOH roster or better throughout the year, apart from 10-12 weeks in Spring where we have two Vets on-call. We have a qualified Veterinary Nurse on-call over the weekend to assist with emergencies and in-patient care during the busier Spring period.
Due to the seasonal nature of our large animal work, there is a huge variation in the weighting of clinical work, but we aim to maintain variation whilst also accommodating individual skills and strengths. We also have Large Animal Technicians to ease the burden of the routine work.
There are always opportunities to learn new skills and with our great team of Vets, someone is always happy to lend a hand if more hands, more experience or just some friendly encouragement is required.
A healthy work-life balance is important to us all and we aim to ensure that everyone gets their allocated breaks and finishes on time.
About You
Ultimately, we are looking for the right candidate to fit in with our team. Qualifications are obviously essential, but we are happy to work with differing levels of experience to ensure that you are confident in your role. The qualities that are particularly important to us are:
- Mixed practitioner preferred but can accommodate more specialised interests
- Communication and people skills
- Team player, but able to work independently when required
- Happy to work with a variety of animals
- A good sense of humour!
Our Offer
- A competitive salary from NZ$73,000 p.a. that reflects skills, experience and expertise
- Salary review after 3 months employment
- Generous CPD allowance
- Annual Practicing Certificate and Professional subscriptions
- Excellent mentoring and support programme
- Relocation package
- Assistance with finding initial accommodation
- Long-term opportunities +/- Practice ownership for the right candidate
