We would also consider a locum vet wanting to take extended breaks (up to 3 weeks) in the above period to discover New Zealand; as long as peak holiday periods and their weekend shifts are covered.

Tāwharau Ora, the School of Veterinary Sciences at Massey University, Palmerston North, invites applications for a practicing veterinarian within the Small Animal Hospital of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. This is an opportunity to interact with over 20 faculty members in the Small Animal Hospital, a class of rotating small animal interns, and residents from the anaesthesia, and ECC services. It is a 0.8 FTE position at 30 hours per week so you can enjoy a balanced career with your own life pursuits.
You will be part of a rotating roster, involving daytime, evening and weekend shifts. There are no scheduled overnight shifts. There is also an opportunity to work alongside the specialist team during the weekday shifts to improve your skill set in areas of your choice. We provide 24/7 emergency & critical care for veterinary clinics throughout the wider Manawatu-Whanganui region. Our emergency service is primarily focused on the delivery of clinical services to clients, supporting our rotating interns, and clinical teaching to undergraduate veterinary students. Our AVMA-accredited veterinary programme is world-renowned, providing quality, research-led education. The successful applicant will provide high-quality veterinary care as part of a collaborative team of specialists, vets, nurses, interns, and students.
You will get to interact with the surgery, medicine, radiology, and anaesthesia services. We also utilize the greater Massey VTH resources including digital radiography, in-house computed tomography, flexible and rigid endoscopy, full ultrasound suite, fully equipped and staffed ICU, Idexx in-house laboratory, and on-site clinical and anatomical pathology laboratories, oncology suite, full surgical suites, and out-sourced magnetic resonance imaging at a local medical facility. Journal Club, interdisciplinary rounds, staff seminars, in-house CPD, and study towards HEA fellowship are all strongly encouraged.
The Salary Range for this role is at a Practicing/Senior Practicing Veterinarian grade (for 2024), ranging from $81,172-$143,949 (NZD). Salary will be negotiable by background/experience.

The School of Veterinary Science at Massey University invites applications for the position of Practicing/ Senior Practicing Veterinarian in Dairy Cattle Health and Production based in the mighty Manawatū of New Zealand. This is a full-time (37.5h) position but a part-time role would be considered for the right applicant. You must hold a veterinary degree (BVSc) registrable in New Zealand and have clinical experience.
The position is suited to an ambitious dairy cattle veterinarian who seeks a change in focus and wishes to develop their career in teaching and practice of dairy cattle health and production. You will provide clinical services to clients of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (primarily dairy cattle, but also other production animal species) and participate in teaching on-farm visits, in practicals, tutorials and lectures. While we do service Massey owned and commercial farms, our focus is on providing high quality, relevant teaching opportunities for our students and therefore you can expect a change of pace and focus away from a traditional commercial practice model. Our brand new, purpose built Farm Animal Hospital will offer further opportunity to provide excellent clinical care and teaching opportunities.
We have a talented team of Vets, Techs and support staff, including both general practitioners and boarded specialists in dairy cattle and ruminant internal medicine and surgery, so you will always be supported in providing the best clinical practice and teaching.
