The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Qualified Veterinary Nurse to join our team. While the majority of shifts will be based at Koru Vets - The Mount, candidates will be expected to work across both practice locations as needed. This is a dynamic, multi-faceted role providing cover across consults, surgical nursing, and front-of-house customer service/reception. While we are searching for a permanent part-time candidate, we are also open to considering flexible hours or a fixed-term/temporary placement through to March 2027.
Key Details:
- Roster: 64 hours per fortnight, including 1 out of every 3 weekends (no on-call or after-hours work required).
- Caseload: A balanced mix of small animal consultations, client-facing reception, surgical nursing (including orthopaedics), and procedure support.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualifications: Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent).
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of veterinary nursing experience preferred (though all levels of experience will be considered for the right candidate).
- Key Skills:
- Competent in surgical nursing, orthopaedics, and clinical procedures.
- Strong communication and customer service skills for reception and client consults.
- A reliable, flexible team player ready to jump in where needed.

As a Veterinary Nurse, you'll be at the heart of our Culverden clinic, supporting the veterinarians, caring for patients, and creating a positive experience for the clients who trust us with their animals.
Your role will include:
- Assisting with anesthesia and surgical procedures.
- Providing exceptional inpatient nursing and hospital care.
- Caring for both companion animals and production animals.
- Running nurse consultations and supporting preventative healthcare.
- Building strong relationships with clients and providing outstanding customer service.
- Supporting reception and appointment management (when needed).
- Helping to maintain a safe, organised and welcoming clinic environment.

The team of vets and nurses are frequently involved in a variety of surgeries, and they are looking for a motivated experienced nurse to join their team who can operate confidently within a professional environment. This is a locum position starting early November to cover parental leave. Length of cover to be negotiated.
Motueka is located at the top of the South Island in the Tasman district, known for its warm climate, orchards, wineries, arts and crafts, national parks, walking and bike tracks and stunning beaches, with the city of Nelson approximately 40 minutes away.
