“I have been working at AMV for over 6 years now, I could not imagine working anywhere else. We truly are a little family, yes it may sound cheesy, but the team are not only here to support me, but we have all become lifelong friends. Being mobile is completely different to being in clinic, I love it and would choose being mobile over being in clinic any day. I thrive on the day-to-day challenges, personal rapport building with clients, driving around the sights of Sydney, and finding new cafes for lunch or a coffee is a bonus.

BALMAIN/ROZELLE - SYDNEY - SENIOR VET New Position
Senior Vet wanted for Managerial Role
Balmain Veterinary Hospital is an inner city, 10 full time equivalent veterinarian practice delivering superior quality veterinary service to the Balmain/Rozelle community for over 50 years. Our size means that we regularly see interesting cases and are able to practice very high-quality medicine. We have excellent clients, willing to go the distance in investigating their pets’ needs.
We are not corporately owned, and the owners of the hospital are vets who work in the practice. We have undergone management and leadership training through the Lincoln Institute and actively work on having the best work culture. The 3 partners of the practice all individually hold memberships of ANZCVS, in medicine, surgery and radiology.
We are looking for an experienced senior clinician who is looking to take on a leadership role within the practice. Current membership of ANZCVS or plans to sit the exams would be a great advantage.
Our nursing team is highly trained and experienced. They work closely with the vets and are able to also work independently of the vets to place iv’s, run pathology, induce and maintain anaesthesia including all the usual monitoring and use of ventilated anaesthesia. All of our associate vets have been graduated between 5 and 15 years.
We have up to date radiography, ultrasound, dental equipment and laboratory equipment. We regularly manage complicated medical cases and surgical procedures including BOAS and TPLO procedures. We have excellent relationships with several specialist hospitals and aim to work up our cases as well as any specialist hospital and refer where appropriate.
We are open 7.30am to 7pm Weekdays, 8am to 5pm on Saturdays and are closed Sundays and Public Holidays. There is no after-hours’ duty and all critical patients are referred to overnight emergency centres.
If you are looking for a hospital that is owned by the vets that work in it, is committed to excellent quality medicine, that actively works on work culture and is a place where you can advance your career, then we are the hospital you are looking for. If you are looking for a hospital where you can take a leadership role and have a say in the way the hospital runs, then we are the hospital you are looking for. If you are looking for a place where clients want gold standard workups and treatments, then you have found us. As an added bonus, we do not see birds or exotic animals.
The position offered is full time, and you must be available to work 4 days per week (16 days per 4-week roster) which includes working 2 Saturdays. You must be registered with the NSW Vet Surgeons Board and be legally able to work in Australia. We strongly support continuing education and want our vets to gain both knowledge and skills.

MONTEREY-BASED, SYDNEY - SMALL ANIMAL MOBILE/TELEHEALTH BEHAVIOUR
Behaviour Veterinarian
Can’t stop talking about Behaviour? Neither can we!
Pet Behaviour Vet is looking for a vet with a strong interest in behavioural medicine to join a like-minded team who find behaviour as fascinating as you do! We are looking for someone to either work part or full-time.
What we do
Pet Behaviour Vet is a behaviour-only practice based in Monterey, Sydney, performing house call, phone and online behaviour consultations all over Sydney and surrounds. We also perform Vet-to-Vet teleconsultations, assisting GP vets in being able to perform their own behaviour consultations. As a large part of our caseload is by teleconsultation, much of the role can be performed from home, where we also complete our write-ups and email follow-ups.
Our practice is very well known and trusted in our community of referring vets, behaviourists and dog trainers, so our caseload is growing so fast that we need another vet to join our team!
Please click here to see photos!
Our point of difference
This is no ordinary vet practice, and this is not your average job!
Experience a refreshingly high compliance rate, as our clients are deeply committed to finding solutions for their pets’ behavioural problems. Our select clientele is usually referred by veterinarians or dog trainers, and many have already put a lot of work into educating themselves in behaviour.
Achieve better patient outcomes by observing and treating your patients in their own comfortable home environment where their behaviour is most true to form.
Play an integral role in keeping these animals in their homes and out of shelters.
Create long-term relationships with patients and their incredibly dedicated families who genuinely care for and seek solutions for their pets. Witness first-hand the change you make in their lives as you follow up and manage these cases from start to finish.
Choose your happy place! Complete your admin work from home, outside in the sun, over a coffee at your local cafe, or alongside friendly colleagues at our head office (2 minute walk from the beach!).
Never feel alone. Our staff are always just a phone call or a Teams message away. Or choose to work in the office if you feel like doing some extroverting!
Experience genuine work-life balance by choosing your own hours. Whether you prefer to write up your reports after the kids are in bed, or during business hours, we just want your best work! Don’t want to work weekends? Neither do we!
Team work makes the dream work! Collaborate with an educated and supportive team who inspire excellence in one another on a daily basis. Be supported by highly competent and organised admin staff, literally employed to make your day easier so you can focus on what you do best: spend time on your cases. How often do you work with receptionists who are also qualified dog trainers?
Participate in regular Behaviour Rounds with our behaviour vets, dog trainers and animal behaviourist, so you will never feel lost in a case. Food is our love language, so our meetings are held over a meal provided by PBV. We have also been known to have ‘walking meetings’ along the Monterey beachfront.
Share cases with our in-house PhD animal behaviourist. Our industry-leading Integrated Care Plan allows us to give detailed, personalised behaviour management plans, better client compliance and better patient outcomes.
Feel safe at work. Work with a company dedicated to physical and mental safety as part of the THRIVE Cultivating Safe Teams Pilot Program.
What our staff say
Still not convinced? Listen to what our team says about working at Pet Behaviour Vet.
“Making the decision to leave general practice behind and work solely in behaviour for Pet Behaviour Vet has been the best decision I have ever made in my professional life.”
“I love working in a family-owned business where I get to feel like family and the owners care as much about my mental health as they do for the patients we see.”
“I love our meetings, always over great food, where we get to nerd out about behaviour together, learning from each other.”
“I love working with people as driven and passionate as I am to make a difference every day.”
“It’s so refreshing to have a job where I don’t have to feel guilty about working a short shift to allow me to pick my kids up from school. I know I can make it up to my team by finishing my shift when it is convenient for me.”
“If you love behaviour, you are going to love working for Pet Behaviour Vet.”
All About You
We won’t lie, we’re looking for someone special to join our team. Could it be you?
We need you to have:
- a degree in veterinary science (BVSc or DVM), and are you registered to work in NSW with at least 3 years’ clinical veterinary experience;
- a demonstrated interest or qualification in veterinary behavioural medicine;
- a detailed understanding of science-based, force-free training; experience in performing veterinary behavioural consultations and in designing behaviour management programs;
- a car and driver’s license, as house calls within Sydney metro (and occasionally surrounding regional areas) form a large component of the work. You will be reimbursed for your travel expenses.
Can’t wait to get started? We’re excited to meet you!

Located in Picton (2571) the clinic is less than an hour from Sydney CBD, thirty minutes from Wollongong’s beaches and thirty minutes from Bowral and the Southern Highlands.
Our recently refurbished and expanded hospital is bright, clean and spacious.
Our nurses are highly competent and trained to allow you to focus on our patient’s care and client’s needs.
We’re small enough to know many of our clients by name but large enough to see lots of interesting cases; and to support each other as needed.
Our appointments allow you plenty of time to work up cases and keep on top of your work.
Lunch breaks are mandatory and time is scheduled for case notes. Nurses will do your call backs.
The clinic closes at 6pm Monday-Friday, 12 noon Saturday. Vets are on their way home at 5pm during the week and 12 sharp on Saturday.
Dogs and cats only. No afterhours or Sunday work is required.
Ideally you will bring enough experience to work independently and a desire to learn new skills.

We use RxWorks and have a dedicated surgery suite, radiography room, large treatment area and laboratory. We also have a dedicated euthanasia room, great puppy preschool space, a well-stocked (coffee machine and dishwasher included!) lunch room, and more. Have a look at our website:
