Derek Del Simone – General Manager Talent & Mobility 0417 202 998
Gold Coast Veterinary Surgery, Broadbeach, Gold Coast, QLD (posted 14th April) Practice Manager
Leadership Opportunity in Paradise
Practice Manager
We both wanted to be vets and fix sick animals ever since we can remember! Then we met at vet school, became vets, and worked our way up the ropes working in vet clinics in South Africa, the UK and Australia. In 2006 we took the leap to own Gold Coast Vet Surgery where we started with us two vets and ONE staff member – a nurse who did both Reception and Nursing! We are Dr Fiona & Dr Kevin Cruickshank, the owners of the Gold Coast’s only AVA Accredited Hospital of Excellence, and one of the few remaining independent, family owned vet clinics on the Gold Coast.
Jump forwards 17 years and we are now a high functioning team of 17 super enthusiastic and talented animal lovers! We have a full time Practice Manager, 3 dedicated Customer Care gurus on Reception, 6 vets, a Vet Technician and 6 Vet Nurses, all fully Cert IV qualified. Together we have won awards and have grown a fantastic clientele who want to do the best for their pets and are our raving fans (see our Google Reviews). We still love fixing sick animals, but to achieve all that we do we need to be kept organised, motivated and supported to work as a well-oiled machine … and this is the role of our Practice Manager.

But very sadly, our wonderful Practice Manager, who has been with us for the last 11 years, is now moving on to achieve even greater things in another field. And this is where we hope that you can help us:
Do you enjoy leading a small to medium sized team to each achieve to their very best individual potential, while at the same time coordinating everyone to work together as a happy, harmonious team? Do you believe in coaching and mentoring, rather than telling and bossing? We need you to lead by inspiring your colleagues and using your empathetic people skills to help us all to keep achieving amazing things for the pets of Broadbeach, Surfers Paradise and surrounds.
We are a compassionate, family orientated business. This means that you work alongside the owners of the practice who completely understand your work load and challenges and there is no corporate head office to deal with. We all work hard and take our patient care and customer care very seriously, but we do also enjoy a laugh along the way.
We are proud to have a great team and it is important to us that new team members are a good “fit”. As employers, our aim is to keep everyone happy. Wherever possible we strive to be family friendly and have a good work-life balance. We are invested in continually improving our team culture and want to ensure that everyone feels supported and achieves everything that they want from their role. We are still learning this, but have invested in a leadership program to help us on our way and you will be a key part in our continued progress in this department.
As a result of the hard work of our current Practice Manager, we have numerous policies and procedures in place to ensure the smooth running of the clinic. So much of the hard work is done, and we are now ready to take the practice to the next level. We’d love you to use your marketing and social media skills to further raise our profile.
Our clients are (mostly!) lovely, very dedicated to their pet’s care and always want to do the best for their pets. Our great clientele allow us to practice "best practice medicine" ensuring excellent job satisfaction. And a high percentage of our patients have pet insurance, leading to far fewer awkward conversations about money. Even when things get busy we always have time for puppy cuddles … in fact it’s encouraged.
So if you have a passion for Practice Management and leading a high functioning team, want to make a difference every day at work & be appreciated for the hard work that you put in, then please get in touch with Dr Kevin Cruickshank: vet@goldcoastvet.com.au Absolute confidentiality is assured.
PS. Please note that this advert was not created by ChatGPT … whilst we are progressive and embrace technology, we are unique, individual and very personal in our approach to business!
