EAST BUNDABERG, WIDE BAY BURNETT REGION - SMALL ANIMAL
Veterinary surgeon wanted to join a 4 person practice in Bundaberg Queensland
We are a small animal hospital with all the “mod cons” – dental and normal digital x-rays, ultrasound machines, 3 surgery tables and dental table, full orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery equipment, comprehensive pathology lab, class 4 laser therapy machine, fully computerized hospital etc.
Why should you apply for this position?
We are very experienced and very qualified with 2 of the senior vets belonging to Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Science – one in Small Animal Surgery and one in Internal Medicine of Small Animals.
We are privately owned and do not hold our staff to KPIs. We believe in Quality rather than Quantity in our workload as we deal with our clients and their wonderful furry and feathered friends.
We encourage further education, and we offer a fully paid week leave to attend conferences etc.
We have vet meetings every morning to discuss any hard or annoying cases and we tutor all young or inexperienced veterinarians.
We do not have a large workload and that means that the vet has time on each case to fully investigate and time to discuss the case with each client.
We care for our staff – if you are inexperienced then we will teach you, if you are moderately experienced we will encourage and help you to develop your skills and if you are very experienced, we will leave you alone unless you require help.
Every vet gets 6 weeks holidays a year.
Every vet gets “half a day” off each week.
If you are “on duty” on a weekend – the next weekend is a 4-day weekend.
There is some afterhour work involved but our workload afterhours is very small.
We believe that there is more to life than veterinary science and it is important that we have a life outside of veterinary science.
Salary starts at $80,000.00 for new graduate and goes up higher depending on experience of successful applicant.
We offer rental assistance to the successful applicant for the first year of employment and further assistance would be considered after this time.
Please click here to see photos!
Why should you consider coming to Bundaberg?
It is a small city with lots to offer all citizens of our fine town. It is the southern most point of the Barrier Reef. We are a “step and hop” away from Gari (Frazer Island). Our beaches are safe for all water sports and activities, and we have a number of dams in the area for those who want to partake of freshwater activities. Our city caters for all forms of team sports as well as individual sports and forms of recreation.
We have the world-famous Mon Repos turtle sanctuary, and we are one of the ports for Whale Watching. We are surrounded by some of the best growing areas in Australia and are often called the Salad Bowl of Australia.
The cost of living is a lot cheaper than any of the big cities and transport is easy and traffic jam free. In fact, it only takes 20 minutes to drive from one side of the city to the other even in peak hour traffic.
Our air is clean, there is no pollutant smells, the people are friendly, there are lots of different schools and one university, there is a very active playhouse and there is night entertainment for the young and young at heart.
To sum it up
Bundaberg is a very safe, healthy and happy place to live, the veterinary hospital is a great place to work and the successful applicant will learn a lot and develop their veterinary skill under the tuition of very experienced senior vets and you will have plenty of time away to have a “normal” life.
If you require more information, then please contact our manager and we can supply you with as much information as you need.

BEAUDESERT, SCENIC RIM REGION - NEW/RECENT GRAD VET IN SA AND EQUINE PRACTICE
New or Recent Grad Vet Opportunity
Are you a new or a recent grad?
Got a love for horses and small animals?
Imagine being able to kick off your career in a mixed practice without having to live in the middle of nowhere?
Hi, I’m Dr Dave. I learnt a very valuable lesson when I graduated back in 1980...
I had my heart set on being a small animal surgeon...
But got offered a job in a mixed practice in the middle of nowhere!
Whilst I thought my future was all mapped out I took the leap of faith and started my career in mixed practice.
Fast forward 43 years...
I'm the owner of my own Practice taking care of both small animals and horses!
It's the one thing I thought I'd never do when I started!
The journey has been amazing...
And the moral of the story is that you never know what you might love if you close your door on opportunities!
So, we have an opportunity for you.
Why are we looking for a new vet?
Our fantastic vet Dr Claire is leaving us after 2 years to head off to be closer to her family interstate.
She joined us as a new graduate and has grown into a great mixed animal vet. Both our clients and the clinic are going to miss her!
Now, we could tell you how amazing we are to work with (just like EVERY other clinic) but here is what Dr Claire has said about her time with us...
“HoofnPaws has been a fantastic start to my career in the veterinary world. As a mixed GP practice the variety sets up for a wide range of skills to be learnt, in all different species! This clinic also has some great unique areas to grow particular interests including equine dentistry and alternative therapy (including acupuncture and traditional medicine). I have thoroughly enjoyed the location of the clinic and the community that comes with it. There have been multiple opportunities to provide veterinary care, with breathtaking views and lovely people.”
This will be the job for you if:
- You can communicate well with people.
- You are an advocate for the animal's best interests.
- You relate well to animals.
- You are open and ready to start your learning curve.
You will love working with us because:
- It's a relaxed atmosphere of a country town within striking distance of the city/beaches..
- You are happiest in a team of people who have a learning and growth mindset.
- You want support and mentoring as you take those first steps into general practice.
- You want an environment that balances the learning curve of a new Vet with maintaining a life outside of work!
And something a little different for you is our focus on integrative medicine (think Acupuncture etc.) and how we use these modalities to compliment western medicine practices.
What's the next step?
If this is something that sounds attractive, then let’s have a chat.
You can contact me on 0428 369 670 to organise a time, or email at veresdale_equine_vets@hotmail.com
I look forward to hearing from you!

I came to Harbour City Vets as a new Grad in 2021 from Adelaide.
The team were very warm and welcoming.
I have had the opportunity to develop exceptional clinical and surgical skills with constant mentoring and support.
Being a busy clinic, I was fortunate enough to perform upwards of 6 routine desexing/general soft tissue procedures a day with dedicated mentoring. The experienced support team make a huge difference, always around with guidance and assistance. The clinic has a varied caseload and I have experienced “hands on” a wide variety of interesting general and emergency cases to build my skill set.

As a New Grad if you are looking for a clinic to support personal growth and hands on skills, I would recommend working at Harbour City Vets.
Gladstone is a nice easy town to live in and navigate around. The real estate is very reasonable, the climate is perfect and I love living so close to the beach on my days off – Dr Taylor Smith
I came to Harbour City Vet Surgery as an international Vet needing to pass the AVE exam for registration in Australia. The team were extremely supportive, professionally and personally. APIAM were able to provide opportunities within other AAH clinics to help gain extra experience and skills to prepare for my final AVE exams for the large animal competencies which could not be achieved in a small animal only clinic. The caseload is varied and exciting, we carry out a large number of both routine and non routine medical, surgical and emergency cases. I have also been fortunate enough to gain hands on experience familarising myself with and treating native wildlife in clinic.
Gladstone is a great regional area to live in. There is so much great outdoors to explore, camping, hiking fishing and beaches close by. Most facilities you require are available locally and if not, Rockhampton is a 1hr drive north or Brisbane a 1hr flight away. - Dr Lisa Hauer
I have been working for the Harbour City Veterinary surgery for 20 years as a Veterinary Nurse. I was employed whilst the clinic was a small family owned business and throughout our transition to become a part of Apiam Animal Health group. It is always a scary thought when you find out your workplace is going from family owned to corporate. Apiam made the transition smooth and business continued as normal for all us staff. We have a massive amount of support in all areas business and personally plus a few extra perks, corporate staff discounts from various vendors and a bonus “Apiam day off” each year. The team at Harbour City is great to be a part of, we pride ourselves on our family orientated culture, support of one another and staff longevity. We have a well fitted out clinic with in-house pathology machines, digital xrays and ultrasound to name a few.
I have raised a family in Gladstone and there are diverse range of opportunities available locally in sports, the arts and general outdoor activities. Gladstone offers all the major facilities you require without the crazy busy hustle and traffic of capital cities. There is an abundance of National Parks, Beaches and Islands to explore at our doorstep, along with wonderful Cafes, restaurants and outdoor parks and spaces such as East Shores and Spinnaker Park to relax and chill.- Sarah, Clinic Coordinator/Nurse.
Gladstone is a fantastic part of Queensland. We have everything here from beach to bush and the perfect climate. You can spend weekends exploring the Boyne Valley, walking the old train tunnels, swimming in waterholes and having lunch at the pub or you can drive down Lily’s Beach and spend the afternoon with a picnic and drinks or camp overnight. You can go for a stroll at our beautiful marina, Spinnaker Park or East Shores waterfront precinct and have lunch overlooking the harbour and islands, explore our award winning botanic garden and walking trails. If you love the outdoors there are National Parks and State Forests to explore in all directions, some with significant historical heritage such as WWII bomber “Betsy” in Kroombit National Park. Or you might want to watch a show at our Entertainment Centre, world class ballet companies and performing acts and enjoy an espresso martini at the wine bar or visit our art gallery. You can take a tinny out onto Lake Awoonga, a beautiful place for family picnics and barbeques, swimming and water sports, fish or crab in the local rivers or join a fishing competition to catch a Barra. We are at the Southern end of The Great Barrier Reef and have access to an abundance of Islands such as Heron or Lady Musgrave where you can snorkel and dive the coral reefs. If interested in marine animals, you can volunteer at the Quion Island turtle rehabilitation centre, which homes, green, leatherback and hawksbill sea turtles. Agnes Waters, is the most northern surf beach on the QLD coast, a great day or weekend escape. The relaxed lifestyle in Gladstone is fantastic and on top of that our real estate is a great price. I have been presented with the perfect balance between mentoring and independence on both medical and surgical cases, which has provided a steep learning curve in all aspects of being a vet. For the opportunities I’ve been given and the continued support from all the senior vets, nurses and other team members I am extremely grateful.”

CHARLEVILLE, SOUTH-WEST - MIXED
New Position
TIRED OF THE CITY GRIND AND LOOKING FOR A CHANGE?
WANT TO BE PART OF GROWING A CLINIC THAT WANTS TO HELP YOU SUCCEED, AND HAVE SOME FUN WHILE DOING IT?
That’s awesome, because guess what? We’re hiring!
The Charleville Vet Surgery is a four vet mixed practice, and we are looking for another vet to join our team! Our practice is rapidly expanding (from 1 vet 2 years ago, to 4 vets now!), and if you’re looking for a job where you get to have some fun, see what the west has to offer, all while being supported to be the best vet you can, then CVS might be for you!
We know there are plenty of awesome mixed practices out there looking for vets, so what makes us different?
We have four core values here at CVS – compassion, commitment, teamwork and making a difference. These values underpin everything that we do as a team and for our clients.
We want to provide the best possible service to the people and animals of western Queensland. We are in the unique position in offering a service to clients who otherwise wouldn’t have access to a vet for in some cases over 800km – which means we get to work up and treat cases that a lot of other vets wouldn’t have the opportunity to do!
We provide all the things that any decent job should!
- A friendly, supportive team environment where the wellbeing and happiness of our staff is our highest priority
- Flexible working arrangements. We know one size doesn’t fit all, and we really want to find what works for you to foster a long term relationship at the clinic.
- Above award wages (paid hourly for the work you do)
- Minimal afterhours and on call - 1 in 4 weekends, 1-2 nights/ week. We have an external answering system, so you only get called for genuine emergencies!
- Emphasis on continuing education including one week paid study leave and generous study allowance
The Charleville Vet Surgery has all the equipment you need to do a good job, and we are located in a great little spot on the edge of town with a well equipped smallies clinic, and great barn set up for our horses. We have everything you could ask for in a mixed practice – soft tissue and trauma surgery (and ortho if you’re up for it!), equine dentistry, stitch ups, colics, race day and endurance vetting, cattle preg testing, bull testing and herd health – and the odd alpaca or goat surgery in between!
Please click here to see photos!
Although Charleville might be considered being ‘the middle of nowhere’ (and it kinda is…) it is a thriving town with lots of sporting teams, social events, and daily flights to Brisbane. Everything you need is here (or just a short plane trip away if you need a weekend of finer luxuries!). And you get to enjoy it all without the hustle and bustle of city life!
Being a small town, we get to truly make a difference and get to know our clients personally.
What we are looking for:
- A caring, confident individual with great communication skills
- A can do attitude and a willingness to ‘give it a go’
- A team player who will work to build the practice and relationships with clients
- Someone who is willing to put their best foot forward for their team and patients everyday
If you think the Charleville Vet Surgery sounds like it could be for you, or you would just like to learn more about us, please don’t hesitate to give us a call or email!

We also have clinics in three of the most convenient and appealing locations in Sydney, should you fancy a change of scenery!
The role is open to experienced candidates or recent graduates with a good easygoing disposition.

A full-time role would require you to work 38 hours per week and would include some weekend work.
We have very little after hours work, which means you are able to maintain a Healthy Work Life Balance, leaving you plenty of time to spend with your loved ones & pursue your personal hobbies.
Project HoPe
At Southern Cross Vet Clinic, we also have our own charity called Project HoPe which looks after the medical and surgical needs of the companions of the homeless, ensuring that no pet gets refused treatment and care because of lack of funds. We expect the successful applicant to not only possess the required skills, but also the desire in their hearts to save the lives of the pets of Sydney’s least fortunate – those that lead a rough life on the streets.
The bonds between the homeless and their companions are pure and deep. Their four-legged companions are often what keep them going – keep them away from drugs, keep them wanting to wake up another day. We help them because we can.

EAST TOOWOOMBA - SMALL ANIMAL/EMERGENCY
Dial '000' we have an emergency!
Hi, I'm Dr Dave.
I am co-owner and operator of Red Vets. It's a state of the art animal hospital providing 24/7 care for the pets of Toowoomba and surrounding areas.
And we have an "emergency" of our own right now!
Two of our fantastic Vets are leaving us for new adventures. One is going overseas and one is heading south...
We are disappointed (we thought they'd stay forever!)...
But equally excited for them and excited to welcome some new members to our team.
Now, if you have previous Emergency and Critical care experience you'll know how things go...
Although the major difference here is you won’t be a number on a corporate file...
You'll be an integral team member joining a family run clinic…!
But if you are a Vet looking to try something new we are keen to chat too!
We all know the word “emergency” can make vets a little nervous…
What if we told you that emergency medicine is the most fun…?
Yes, it does involve shifts outside the usual 9-5…
But you'll never be on call, work fewer hours and make more money…!
We truly operate as a team...
We simply couldn't do what we do without the efforts of a great team...
You become part of a team that has...
Highly trained support staff you can trust with your patients...
As well as 24hr support from experienced Vets and on-call medical specialist.
Help is always available for when things get tricky!
Please click here to see photos!
Why else will you will love us..?
A salary well above industry standards…
No on call… time away from work is your own…
3- 4 day working week with the option of full-time or part time hours…
Alternating weekends that can be rostered around your plans, so you don’t have to miss out…
So, we reckon we are pretty good… But don't just believe us…!
Here is what one of our vets has to say…
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Toowoomba Family Vets and now RedVets for over 4 years. The clinic is collaborative and supportive, all the vets look out for each other, and help is only a phone call away. We also have amazing support staff that you can trust to take the best care of your patients, help run diagnostic tests, and keep all the wheels turning. I highly recommend all vets that would like to stretch themselves in excellent vet care consider the role” - Dr Ellie Burnett
