AYR, BURDEKIN SHIRE - MIXED ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

FULL TIME VETERINARIAN – BURDEKIN VETERINARY SERVICES

About Us:

Burdekin Veterinary Services is a privately-owned mixed practice clinic. We have been an established Vet clinic for over 40 years. The current owner of 20 years boasts a long-standing and highly varied client base.

Our clinic is in a rural town, which provides opportunities for vets to explore diagnostics and treatments that they wouldn’t usually be able to in the city. With the majority of clients trusting of us to explore cases in depth, you’ll never suffer from the ‘same stuff, different day’ mentality.

Please click here to see photos! photos

Burdekin Veterinary Services is equipped with portable digital x-ray machines, endoscope, equine and bovine reproduction equipment, equine dental float, small animal orthopaedics, various ultrasound machines, a fully equipped vehicle for large animal jobs as well as other vehicles equipped for house calls.

Your role:

As a full-time Veterinarian, your salary will be paid based on a 38-hour week. However, being in mixed practice, there will be weeks you will work more, or less. Any excess hours above 38 will accumulate as time-in-lieu.  Those hours will then be taken in weeks you work less than 38 hours.

We are a 60:40 mixed practice clinic, so you will never have a boring day! Our small animal caseload is typical of a small town mixed practice. We also have a large clientele of thoroughbred and greyhound trainers, due to our long-standing association with Racing QLD.

Our large animal caseload is predominately equine work with a small amount of cattle work, including pregnancy testing and bull testing.

With your employment, the on-call roster will be 1in4 weekends and 1 night per week. Renumeration for on-call is very generous, making the weekends worth-while! We attend both small animal and large animal emergencies, and there is always a senior Vet to phone on the weekends if you’re stuck or need advice.

Perks of the job:

We pay above award wages, with the starting salary being generous. It is based on your experience and willingness to develop your skills.

We are a very hands-on clinic. You will be encouraged to ‘have a go’ and learn by experiencing cases firsthand! You will be well-supported by the other 3 Veterinarians. Not only are the Vets here to support you, so are the nurses. Our nurses are highly experienced - some have been working at Burdekin Vets for 20 years!

About Ayr:

Ayr is a bustling country town in the Burdekin region of about 17000 people. Ayr is home to multiple yearly events such as Growers Race Day, the Water Festival, and the Harvest Festival.

The Burdekin is a stone’s throw from the Whitsundays, with only a 2.5 hour drive putting you in the heart of Airlie Beach! We are an hour’s drive from Townsville, and 1.5 hours from Charters Towers. Ayr has the classic small-town community spirit, while being positioned close to the beach, the city and the country.

BILOELA, SHIRE OF BANANA, CENTRAL - MIXED New Graduates welcome
callide valley logo

ARE YOU A VET LOOKING FOR THE IDEAL MIXED PRACTICE JOB?

THE NEXT 2 MINUTES COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

Hello, I’m Doctor Katie, and I head the team at Callide Valley Vets.

I grew up locally on a cattle farm. Country life and I are like peas and carrots. When all the other kids were playing netball or football, I was out riding my horse. My career and trajectory in the industry stems from childhood, where I spent many a time peeking wide-eyed over the rails in awe when our vet came to visit. I was fascinated by what he could do,

We are searching for a new veterinarian to join our country practice – we welcome applicants that are mixed veterinarians and we’d be perfect for you if:

Ask yourself - what is holding you back from a job made to fit you?
Here’s what we think makes this job so exciting:

The team can provide references upon request, so don’t take my word for it, ask them for yourself!

Sounds like this could be for you? Then read on…
This opportunity is for someone who doesn’t necessarily have to have an abundance of industry experience, but rather someone who has a passion for being a veterinarian and embraces a rural lifestyle.

Here is a chance to join a practice where you are able to undertake 50/50 large and small animal case load. Our team is cohesive, well trained and has a ‘can do’ attitude. The potential to upskill and give anything a go will be limited only by your imagination.

Please click here to see photos! photos

On a personal note, I didn’t realise at the time I first purchased the clinic, but looking back now I see that I had clear motives:

If you reach out to have a chat know that our conversation will be kept completely confidential.

Call us. It takes 2 minutes out of your day and it could just turn out to be the best thing you have ever done.
