***Casual/permanent position available for Experienced Vet or New Grad***

Scarness Vet Surgery is located in the beautiful seaside town of Hervey Bay. We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced or new grad vet to join our team.

Scarness Vet Surgery is a busy locally owned small animal veterinary clinic, that currently has three experienced veterinarians.  Scarness Vet Surgery is located only 2 blocks from the beach in Hervey Bay in the centre of the city. We pride ourselves on providing a high level of veterinary care tailored to our clients and patient’s needs.

We are looking for a vet with a minimum of 2 years’ experience preferred, but eager capable new grads are very welcome to apply. Ability to work independently, self-motivation, reliability and most importantly a sense of humour are essential attributes.

The emphasis has always been on shared input of ideas and protocols amongst all staff to make the running of the clinic more efficient and more enjoyable place to work. Passions in specific areas of veterinary science are very much encouraged, so we can learn and grow together The practice has great equipment, digital Xray, dental Xray, Blood pathology machines, upmarket ultrasound machine with echo, TPLO and orthopaedic equipment, and BOAS surgical instruments.

Hervey Bay is a growing but still affordable area, based mainly on tourism and local manufacturing businesses. New medical facilities, schools, TAFE and Uni and retail areas are plentiful. The beaches are beautiful and uncrowded and sunrises and sunsets are calendar worthy each and every day.

Renumeration is above award, totally negotiable and relatable to your experience and skills.

ANDERGROVE, MACKAY - SMALL ANIMAL

There has to be more than this?

Is this what being a vet looks like?

What about Balance? Why do I get anxious?

How do I let go of the day that I have had so I don’t bring it home and can sleep without the worrying.

Are there teams out there that are nice to each other, support each other and have some fun?

Is work not meant to be fun?

There is no doubt that the veterinary landscape has changed and is constantly changing. Clients expect more and seem more stressed, teams more anxious and less emotionally connected. That can make any day challenging!

EAST TOOWOOMBA - SMALL ANIMAL/EMERGENCY New Graduates welcome

Dial '000'  we have an emergency!

Hi, I'm Dr Dave.
I am co-owner and operator of Red Vets. It's a state of the art animal hospital providing 24/7 care for the pets of Toowoomba and surrounding areas.
And we have an "emergency" of our own right now!
Two of our fantastic Vets are leaving us for new adventures. One is going overseas and one is heading south...
We are disappointed (we thought they'd stay forever!)...
But equally excited for them and excited to welcome some new members to our team.
Now, if you have previous Emergency and Critical care experience you'll know how things go...
Although the major difference here is you won’t be a number on a corporate file...
You'll be an integral team member joining a family run clinic…!

But if you are a Vet looking to try something new we are keen to chat too!
We all know the word “emergency” can make vets a little nervous…
What if we told you that emergency medicine is the most fun…?
Yes, it does involve shifts outside the usual 9-5…
But you'll never be on call, work fewer hours and make more money…!

We truly operate as a team...
We simply couldn't do what we do without the efforts of a great team...
You become part of a team that has...
Highly trained support staff you can trust with your patients...
As well as 24hr support from experienced Vets and on-call medical specialist.
Help is always available for when things get tricky!

Please click here to see photos! photos

Why else will you will love us..?
A salary well above industry standards…
No on call… time away from work is your own…
3- 4 day working week with the option of full-time or part time hours…
Alternating weekends that can be rostered around your plans, so you don’t have to miss out…

So, we reckon we are pretty good… But don't just believe us…!
Here is what one of our vets has to say…

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Toowoomba Family Vets and now RedVets for over 4 years. The clinic is collaborative and supportive, all the vets look out for each other, and help is only a phone call away. We also have amazing support staff that you can trust to take the best care of your patients, help run diagnostic tests, and keep all the wheels turning. I highly recommend all vets that would like to stretch themselves in excellent vet care consider the role” - Dr Ellie Burnett

Check us out on our Facebook and Instagram pages….
You'll see we don't have two heads!

If you like what you have read and what you have seen, then we'd love to hear from you…
Give me a call on 0400 441 004 for a confidential chat or send an email to dave@redvets.com.au

We can see if we are a fit and how this position could be tailored for you.

EAST BUNDABERG, WIDE BAY BURNETT REGION - SMALL ANIMALNew Graduates welcome

Veterinary surgeon wanted to join a 4 person practice in Bundaberg Queensland

We are a small animal hospital with all the “mod cons” – dental and normal digital x-rays, ultrasound machines, 3 surgery tables and dental table, full orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery equipment, comprehensive pathology lab, class 4 laser therapy machine, fully computerized hospital etc.

Why should you apply for this position?
We are very experienced and very qualified with 2 of the senior vets belonging to Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Science – one in Small Animal Surgery and one in Internal Medicine of Small Animals.

We are privately owned and do not hold our staff to KPIs. We believe in Quality rather than Quantity in our workload as we deal with our clients and their wonderful furry and feathered friends.

We encourage further education, and we offer a fully paid week leave to attend conferences etc.

We have vet meetings every morning to discuss any hard or annoying cases and we tutor all young or inexperienced veterinarians.

We do not have a large workload and that means that the vet has time on each case to fully investigate and time to discuss the case with each client.

We care for our staff – if you are inexperienced then we will teach you, if you are moderately experienced we will encourage and help you to develop your skills and if you are very experienced, we will leave you alone unless you require help.

Every vet gets 6 weeks holidays a year.

Every vet gets “half a day” off each week.

If you are “on duty” on a weekend – the next weekend is a 4-day weekend.

There is some afterhour work involved but our workload afterhours is very small.

We believe that there is more to life than veterinary science and it is important that we have a life outside of veterinary science.

Salary starts at $80,000.00 for new graduate and goes up higher depending on experience of successful applicant.

We offer rental assistance to the successful applicant for the first year of employment and further assistance would be considered after this time.

Please click here to see photos! photos

Why should you consider coming to Bundaberg?
It is a small city with lots to offer all citizens of our fine town. It is the southern most point of the Barrier Reef. We are a “step and hop” away from Gari (Frazer Island). Our beaches are safe for all water sports and activities, and we have a number of dams in the area for those who want to partake of freshwater activities. Our city caters for all forms of team sports as well as individual sports and forms of recreation.

We have the world-famous Mon Repos turtle sanctuary, and we are one of the ports for Whale Watching. We are surrounded by some of the best growing areas in Australia and are often called the Salad Bowl of Australia.

The cost of living is a lot cheaper than any of the big cities and transport is easy and traffic jam free. In fact, it only takes 20 minutes to drive from one side of the city to the other even in peak hour traffic.

Our air is clean, there is no pollutant smells, the people are friendly, there are lots of different schools and one university, there is a very active playhouse and there is night entertainment for the young and young at heart.

To sum it up
Bundaberg is a very safe, healthy and happy place to live, the veterinary hospital is a great place to work and the successful applicant will learn a lot and develop their veterinary skill under the tuition of very experienced senior vets and you will have plenty of time away to have a “normal” life.

If you require more information, then please contact our manager and we can supply you with as much information as you need.

If you feel this position is right for you, please email your application to:
Lynelle (manager)

What does life look like at Westbrook Veterinary Surgery?

⭐️ Every pet gets a minimum 20 - 30 min consult – this allows us to take our time not feel rushed and provide the quality care that our clients love. 🐈‍

⭐️ We don’t believe in the ‘hard sell’ approach, no staff member is judged based on an ATV, we give genuine, honest recommendations and pride ourselves in the aftercare we provide. 🐕

⭐️ Lunch breaks are paid and taken, we appreciate that sometimes things get hectic, but we still ensure everyone gets a break, we also have a well-stocked snack cupboard for those quick refuels in between. 🍩

⭐️ We go out of our way on those ‘tough days’ to say thanks to those that have been there with us and helped get us through. 😻

⭐️ We enjoy going to trivia nights and doing crosswords together because we actually like hanging out together, not because it is a set ‘team building’ activity devised by the management team. 🎳

⭐️ We encourage additional learnings and will support anyone in gaining further knowledge, from ‘lunch n learn’ opportunities during work hours to attendance of seminars or webinar access where possible. 🎾

Don’t get us wrong- just because we are small, and we like to be friends- that doesn’t mean we cut corners or don’t provide quality care. It just means we don’t put the dollars 💵 before our team’s wellbeing 😁

Being owned by an independent and caring Veterinarian means this business was created to provide an environment where all employee's love coming to work every day, and sharing their time with similar minded people that want to help the pets in our community 🐾

We are a modern and progressive team, with all the toys and support you need to do your job. Some of our current equipment includes a digital x-ray machine, ultrasound, fully decked out dental suite and dental 🦷 x-ray machine, not to mention a great team of experienced and capable nurses to assist you along the way.

Being part of the community sits high on our list of priorities, which also means we encourage you to have out of work activities and will work with you to create a roster that fits your lifestyle ⛱

If you want to hear more about us or the role, get in touch via email or give the clinic a ring and ask any of our team ☎️

We realise this all sounds too good to be true – and may even be saying we have heard it all before. There is nothing we can say or do to convince you other than to challenge you 👍

If your current role isn’t providing an environment for you to thrive take the 10 minutes out of your day to talk to us and see what you think 🤔

Who we’re looking for:

Hear it from our team:

I came to Harbour City Vets as a new Grad in 2021 from Adelaide.
The team were very warm and welcoming.
I have had the opportunity to develop exceptional clinical and surgical skills with constant mentoring and support.
Being a busy clinic, I was fortunate enough to perform upwards of 6 routine desexing/general soft tissue procedures a day with dedicated mentoring.  The experienced support team make a huge difference, always around with guidance and assistance.  The clinic has a varied caseload and I have experienced “hands on” a wide variety of interesting general and emergency cases to build my skill set.
Apiam also provide support via a Graduate Development Program, with external mentors, workshops and weekend retreats.  The program is aimed at building resilience, managing a good work life balance and putting you in touch with like minded peers to build a support network.
As a New Grad if you are looking for a clinic to support personal growth and hands on skills, I would recommend working at Harbour City Vets.
Gladstone is a nice easy town to live in and navigate around.  The real estate is very reasonable, the climate is perfect and I love living so close to the beach on my days off – Dr Taylor Smith

I came to Harbour City Vet Surgery as an international Vet needing to pass the AVE exam for registration in Australia.  The team were extremely supportive, professionally and personally.  APIAM were able to provide opportunities within other AAH clinics to help gain extra experience and skills to prepare for my final AVE exams for the large animal competencies which could not be achieved in a small animal only clinic.  The caseload is varied and exciting, we carry out a large number of both routine and non routine medical, surgical and emergency cases.  I have also been fortunate enough to gain hands on experience familarising myself with and treating native wildlife in clinic.
Gladstone is a great regional area to live in.  There is so much great outdoors to explore, camping, hiking fishing and beaches close by.  Most facilities you require are available locally and if not, Rockhampton is a 1hr drive north or Brisbane a 1hr flight away. - Dr Lisa Hauer

I have been working for the Harbour City Veterinary surgery for 20 years as a Veterinary Nurse.  I was employed whilst the clinic was a small family owned business and throughout our transition to become a part of Apiam Animal Health group.  It is always a scary thought when you find out your workplace is going from family owned to corporate.  Apiam made the transition smooth and business continued as normal for all us staff.  We have a massive amount of support in all areas business and personally plus a few extra perks, corporate staff discounts from various vendors and a bonus “Apiam day off” each year.  The team at Harbour City is great to be a part of, we pride ourselves on our family orientated culture, support of one another and staff longevity.  We have a well fitted out clinic with in-house pathology machines, digital xrays and ultrasound to name a few.
I have raised a family in Gladstone and there are diverse range of opportunities available locally in sports, the arts and general outdoor activities.  Gladstone offers all the major facilities you require without the crazy busy hustle and traffic of capital cities.  There is an abundance of National Parks, Beaches and Islands to explore at our doorstep, along with wonderful Cafes, restaurants and outdoor parks and spaces such as East Shores and Spinnaker Park to relax and chill.-  Sarah, Clinic Coordinator/Nurse.

Gladstone is a fantastic part of Queensland. We have everything here from beach to bush and the perfect climate. You can spend weekends exploring the Boyne Valley, walking the old train tunnels, swimming in waterholes and having lunch at the pub or you can drive down Lily’s Beach and spend the afternoon with a picnic and drinks or camp overnight. You can go for a stroll at our beautiful marina, Spinnaker Park or East Shores waterfront precinct and have lunch overlooking the harbour and islands, explore our award winning botanic garden and walking trails.  If you love the outdoors there are National Parks and State Forests to explore in all directions, some with significant historical heritage such as WWII bomber “Betsy” in Kroombit National Park. Or you might want to watch a show at our Entertainment Centre, world class ballet companies and performing acts and enjoy an espresso martini at the wine bar or visit our art gallery. You can take a tinny out onto Lake Awoonga, a beautiful place for family picnics and barbeques, swimming and water sports, fish or crab in the local rivers or join a fishing competition to catch a Barra. We are at the Southern end of The Great Barrier Reef and have access to an abundance of Islands such as Heron or Lady Musgrave where you can snorkel and dive the coral reefs.  If interested in marine animals, you can volunteer at the Quion Island turtle rehabilitation centre, which homes, green, leatherback and hawksbill sea turtles.  Agnes Waters, is the most northern surf beach on the QLD coast, a great day or weekend escape. The relaxed lifestyle in Gladstone is fantastic and on top of that our real estate is a great price. We are only a 6 hour drive from Brisbane and have an airport in town to fly you down in just 1 hour. BILOELA - MIXED PRACTICE, SMALL ANIMAL ONLY VETS WELCOME

ARE YOU A VET LOOKING FOR MORE?

THE NEXT 2 MINUTES COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

Hello, I’m Doctor Katie, and I head the team at Callide Valley Vets.

I grew up locally on a cattle farm. Country life and I are like peas and carrots. When all the other kids were playing netball or football, I was out riding my horse. My career and trajectory in the industry stems from childhood, where I spent many a time peeking wide-eyed over the rails in awe when our vet came to visit. I was fascinated by what he could do, to me he was a miracle man (and 6 year old me was right, he really was).

We are searching for a new veterinarian to join our country practice – we welcome applicants that are either a mixed or small animal veterinarian:

If you love mixed practice or just want to focus on small animals, either would be perfect for you if:

Ask yourself - what is holding you back from something better?

Here’s what we think makes this job so exciting:

Please click here to see photos! photos

The team can provide references upon request, so don’t take my word for it, ask them for yourself!

Sounds like this could be for you? Then read on…

This opportunity is for someone who doesn’t necessarily have to have an abundance of industry experience, but rather someone who has a passion for being a veterinarian and embraces a rural lifestyle.

Here is a chance to join a practice where you are able to undertake 50/50 large and small animal (in the case of a mixed veterinarian), or a broad spread of in clinic work for a small animal veterinarian. Our team is cohesive, well trained and has a ‘can do’ attitude. The potential to upskill and give anything a go will be limited only by your imagination.

On a personal note, I didn’t realise at the time I first purchased the clinic, but looking back now I see that I had clear motives:

If you reach out to have a chat know that our conversation will be kept completely confidential.

Call us. It takes 2 minutes out of your day and it could just turn out to be the best thing you have ever done.

Are you looking for an opportunity to utilise your experience and skills in a general practice setting while having the time to enjoy the wonderful lifestyle offered by the beautiful tropical environment of Far North Queensland.

This could be your opportunity to get out of the rat race and into the laid-back existence of a northerner. Coral Coast Veterinary Services hopes to be the practice where you can avoid our industry burn out and do the work that you love.

We are currently a three vet small animal practice with excellent purpose built facilities and equipment and have the opportunity to offer a position to a fourth vet to join our veterinary family.

Therefore, we have the ability to formulate a new veterinary position and roster in the clinic and achieve a balance between work and play.  We have the opportunity to make the changes required for our vets to live the life they dream of AND remain in this fantastic industry.

INNISFAIL, CASSOWARY COAST - SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

Have you just graduated as a Vet?

Got a 'have a go' attitude?

Want to get the best start to your career?

Hi! I’m Karen Phillips and being a Vet has been a 25 year adventure for me!

Over that time I have had the privilege of helping a number of new graduates get the right start to their career...

And I'm excited to help another get their start in 2023!

About 18 years ago I had the opportunity to buy the clinic I was working in (Coral Coast Vets)...

Like many clinic owners I wanted to create a "lovely place to work"...

Where everyone enjoyed camaraderie and teamwork and enjoyed fulfilment from a job well done...

We love the feeling of becoming part of the extended family of our clients...

Working together to ensure both the patient and owner is taken care of with genuine warmth, integrity and compassion.

So What's It Like To Be A Grad With Us...?

I just love watching a new graduate develop professionally and personally...

To watch them spread their wings as their confidence grows just never gets old!

I could tell you how amazing we are but it's better to hear what past new graduates would tell you...

“I started as a new grad from The Netherlands and experienced an ideal place to learn the job. Hands on, enough tools to work up more challenging cases, very friendly supporting staff with a low threshold to ask for back-up or advice.”
Dr Vera Bavinck Drs, Drs, MVS

“I worked at Coral Coast Vet as a new graduate. I can honestly say I couldn't have asked for a more supportive boss and team to work with. Being a new graduate is challenging. It is imperative that you find a clinic owner who will not only offer you mentorship but who also understands the importance of your mental well being. Karen was definitely this person for me. Also Innisfail is a great place to begin your Veterinary career. You see a wide range of emergency, medical and surgical cases (and can to refer if necessary.)”
Dr Kirsten Court BVSc

Both Vera and Kirsten have moved on to enjoy incredible careers in their fields of interest.

"It Sounds Good But..."

"Innisfail is a long way away..."

  1. It is! And we take extra time to ensure your relocation is a smooth experience!
  2. If you like a laid back outdoor lifestyle with 'the reef right there' then you will love it!
  3. Not to mention you will get experience that 'big city' clinics never see.

"I'm worried I will be left on my own!"

  1. Put simply... No! You will be supported every step of the way. We have an induction program that provides you to be challenged in a safe and secure environment.
  2. There are also 3 experienced vets at your beck and call!

"What sort of experience will I get?"

  1. As a regional small animal general practice the case load can be like a 'hamburger with the lot'...
  2. This means you will get to observe and play a role in a wide variety of cases...
  3. And as you can see from our past grads they have used their time with us valuably!

Please click here to see photos! photos

If you have the passion, enthusiasm and excitement to learn and grow with us then I would love to chat...

If it is an opportunity that is worth exploring further for both of us then I'm sure we'll both know it!

TOOWOOMBA - SMALL ANIMAL

The best GP Vet job available right now...

In the world...
Well, maybe Australia...
Probably Queensland...
But DEFINITELY Toowoomba!
(Or at least we think so!)

G'day I'm Louis...
Together with my mate Dave we own Toowoomba Family Vets and Red Vets (it's sister emergency clinic).

I've been in the game more than 20 years now. I reckon I have made it this far based on three key things:

1) I genuinely love what I do and I genuinely love helping people (and their pets);
2) I have always taken pride in doing my best (even in the most challenging of cases);
3) I love to have fun and a good laugh!

Dr Dave and I have been part of the Toowoomba community for years. In fact, I grew up here...

So we have been able to create a practice that...

By now you might think it sounds perfect...

It's not. BUT it is pretty darn good!

We'd like you to consider joining us in the adventure of making it even better!

Please click here to see photos! photos

If you are keen for a job where you can enjoy yourself and you want...

Now I know nearly every man and his dog (literally) are on the lookout for a good vet...
But there are few opportunities available where you can truly cement your career as the vet you’ve always dreamt of being...
You'll join our 10 vet and 30 support staff team in an encouraging growth driven atmosphere...
Our facilities allow full in-house work up of cases...
Our joint emergency centre means your patients get the same continued care even when you head home…
If you love surgery - learn the art of complex orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeries from our onsite referral surgeon Dr Julian Lunn...
World renowned medicine specialist Dr Terry King regularly in clinic and available virtually for mentoring...

So, we reckon we are pretty good…
But don't just believe us...!
Here is what one of our vets has to say...

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Toowoomba Family Vets and REDvets for over 3 years. TFV is truly the best of both worlds, the variety and relationship building of GP work coupled with the support of our 24 hour hospital. This clinic is collaborative and supportive, all the vets look out for each other, and help is only a phone call away. We also have amazing support staff that you can trust to take the best care of your patients, help run diagnostic tests, and keep all the wheels turning. I highly recommend all vets that would like to stretch themselves in excellent GP care consider the role” Dr Ellie Burnett

Check us out on our Facebook and Instagram pages....

You'll see we don't have two heads and you’ll marvel at how I'm looking so young after 20 years on the tools!

If you are keen to have a chat about the opportunity then I'd love to hear from you...

Give us a call or text on 0408 720 846.

If it's worth exploring further, we'll both know it!

Our internship gives you the opportunity to work in, learn and experience it all...

It sets you up to know with confidence the direction you wish to take your career...

Here is what our most recent member to join the team has to say...

“Looking towards graduation last November I was hoping to find a vet role that was stimulating, encouraging, supportive with the goal of providing the best patient care. I initially believed these were somewhat unattainable, but I’m beyond pleased to say that’s exactly what I have found at REDvets. I have been presented with the perfect balance between mentoring and independence on both medical and surgical cases, which has provided a steep learning curve in all aspects of being a vet. For the opportunities I’ve been given and the continued support from all the senior vets, nurses and other team members I am extremely grateful.”

Dr Sam Tillack, 2020 graduate

Monto Veterinary Group - VETERINARY CHANCE OF A LIFETIME

We are looking for another superstar to join our motivated and passionate 5 vet team at Monto Veterinary Group. We are a TRUE MIXED PRACTICE business working out of our main practice in Monto and our branch practice in Mundubbera. We strive to create a warm family environment, where team support is our priority and each staff member is encouraged to reach their full potential.

Our aim is to provide a pro-active approach to veterinary medicine, which emphasises preventative care, herd health and farm management strategies. 60% of our caseload consists of large animal work. We service a variety of livestock production and large animal clients including commercial beef cattle enterprises, small-scale feedlots, seed-stock studs and performance horse studs/training facilities. However, if you have a passion for small animal practice, 40% of our workload still consists of this and we have the flexibility to offer you the role you want. Many of our clients choose not to refer, so we often receive amazing opportunities to challenge our skills with complex medical and surgical cases in all species. During the equine breeding season we operate a small on-farm breeding centre where there is plenty of opportunity to hone your skills in semen collection and processing as well as ultrasound scanning and artificial insemination of mares with both fresh and frozen semen. We care not only about our clientele’s pets but also about their livestock businesses.

Wide variety of new diagnostic equipment: We have all the toys required to help you upskill while providing excellent standards of care: Digital radiography, small and large animal ultrasonography (+ 3 x BCF easiscan curve), Lane pulsators, equine power floats, mobile vet crush trailer, endoscopy, orthopaedic equipment, IM3 dentistry, Abaxxis laboratory equipment (haematology & Biochemistry), fluid pumps and anaesthetic monitors. We also have embryo transfer and semen collection equipment for horses and cattle..... but if there is anything that we don't have, that you are wanting and can justify, we will buy it for you.

An Amazing Part of the Country: Mundubbera and Monto are both centrally located, strong rural communities with an abundance of quality rural schools and services. We are only 2 hours from the beach and daily flights to Brisbane are only a stone throw away. We have our own Boondoomba & Wuruma dams for those who like fishing, camping, bushwalking and water sports, not to mention campdrafting, polo x and rodeos for the equine enthusiasts. We have all the modern conveniences of the large cities but are still a small rural community with old fashioned values and thoughtful appreciative clients.
