ERINA, CENTRAL COAST - SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

“Have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror and said to yourself “wow” I thought I’d be further ahead by now?"

At Avoca Drive Animal Hospital, we prioritise our staff and focus on clients who support our simple mission; bringing love and health to pets who need it. We are looking for a team member who fits our culture: A dedicated and passionate veterinarian, who pursued your dreams because you want to have a positive impact on the lives of animals and their families. Maybe you have hit a point where you are sick of dealing with the additional stress and pressure of a clinic that places more focus on money than it does its staff and clients, or maybe you are just starting out and want to find a place where you can be supported and grow in your capabilities.

If this sounds like you, come join our intelligent and close-knit team, we are a small group of people dedicated to the physical and mental wellbeing of our clients and our colleagues. We pride ourselves on being a small clinic competing with the big guys. We understand the impact and hard work of every member of our team and work hard to support each other, this is not a practice that is run like a franchise or big business.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We focus on growing and reaching the right people, regardless of their vet degree, to push our mission forward. Your priorities must be clear, and you need to be an action taker as this is definitely a limited time proposition only.

Our clinic is open:
Monday to Friday: 9am - 6pm
Saturday: 9am - 1pm
Sunday: Closed

You will have flexible part time hours, due to the nature of our growing and reliable client base, there are often additional hours available.

If you believe you’ll fit our team, you can just pick up your phone and call me on M: 0413903155 or message me, Liz, at lizlizard.oconnor@gmail.com.

CENTRAL WEST - FORBES - MIXED PRACTICE - MIXED & SMALL ANIMAL VACANCIES

Are you looking for a change in scenery? Is city life getting too busy? Do you want to raise a family in a friendly, opportunity-filled country town environment? Come and explore the relaxed and welcoming town of Forbes, NSW on the Lachlan River!

About us:

Lachlan Valley Vets is a true mixed practice looking to expand our veterinary team and fill the position of one of our vets who is retiring gallantly after 25+ years of owning and practicing at the clinic. We are looking to fill two positions for a mixed practice clinician and a small animal clinician. If you want the country lifestyle coupled with small or mixed animal veterinary work, Lachlan Valley Vets is for you.

This is a new graduate friendly practice, and we pride ourselves on mentoring new grads properly. Work life balance is important to our team and mental health is a priority.

We will cater to any interest as this is a genuine mixed practice. Services offered include equine reproduction, cattle, sheep and goat herd health, plus international export of livestock from 5 different facilities, as well as a broad array of small animal medicine and surgical cases, including but not limited to reptiles, birds and native wildlife. We are also involved in community desexing programs with the RSPCA.

We are continually updating our facilities and are well equipped with digital radiology, in-house blood machines, large and small animal ultrasounds, Reproscan®, equine endoscope and an equine power float. There is the opportunity to work up difficult medical and surgical cases in-house however we can refer to specialty hospitals in Wagga Wagga, Canberra and Sydney.

We have a purpose-built branch clinic in Grenfell, NSW which is open Tuesday each week.

We have incredible support staff with a wide variety of experience and skills. Our nurses are well trained, supportive and are capable of working in teams and independently.

We are a locally owned family business, so if you are looking for support and encouragement from the ground level where you will be working side-by-side with the owners, this job is for you. Our team is like a family, with your work/life balance and mental health a high priority. If you have a family, we understand (and also survive) the chaos that goes along with parenting and are flexible with school pickups and sick children. We want to keep vets in the industry and that means a work/life balance that is flexible and supportive.

We have a coffee van that religiously pulls up at the clinic weekday mornings. Don’t worry if you don’t have a chance to get a caffeine hit before you come to work because it will be delivered with a smile! We also like to try and engage in a communal lunch on Thursdays with an order from the local bakery or pub. This gives us the chance for all staff to catch up, debrief and socialise.

Our team values good communication, often working up cases together. This is helped by our office being laid out so all vets can discuss cases, look at radiographs and easily converse with each other.

About the position:

4 day working week with a dedicated day off. For special occasions it can be arranged to occur on a Friday for a long weekend.
On call load is light and will be shared as 1 in 3 or 1 in 4.
Veterinary products are charged at cost price (plus GST) for your pets. We understand that your pets are part of the family so we look after them as well.

Salary above award wage
+ super
+ on call fee
+ after hours fees (50% of professional fees)
+ continuing education allowance
+ veterinary products for personal pets

Reviews will occur at 3, 6 and 12 months so you can tell us how we are going and provide us with feedback so we can help with any areas of improvement.

About you:

We love our job and while some days can be overwhelming, coming to work should be overall an enjoyable experience. We want our new team members to feel comfortable and fit in well with our clinic family. Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, reliable and friendly and happy to communicate.

We have two positions available at the moment. If you are happy to work with all species, that’s excellent, but we are also looking for a small animal vet so if you don’t like sheep, goats, cows and horses you can stay in the clinic with the smallies. If you don’t have confidence with livestock but would like to build up that confidence, this is the job for you.

About Forbes:

1.5 hours from Orange, 2.5 hours from Wagga Wagga, 3 hours from Canberra and 5 hours from Sydney. It is only a 30-minute drive to the local airport with flights to Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and large regional airports going twice daily.

We also have a 24-hour Anytime Fitness gym.

BOMADERRY, SOUTH COAST SHOALHAVEN - MIXED OR SMALL ANIMAL

Bomaderry Veterinary Hospital is growing again! We are looking to add another Veterinarian to our team. You could be a Small Animal Vet looking for a Country lifestyle or a Mixed Practitioner wanting to treat Dairy Cows and Horses. Full Time, Part Time or job share. Drop us a line!

Bomaderry Veterinary Hospital consists of the main Hospital, a purpose-built multimillion dollar building, opened in August 2022. The Culburra branch is also housed in a purpose-built hospital, whilst the second branch is a long-standing facility in Shoalhaven Heads. Vets rotate between the three clinics, with the majority of time spent in the main Hospital.

We currently have 7 full-time vets and 4 part-timers. The team is very collaborative and are genuinely interested in helping each other out with cases. There is a broad spectrum of experience and special interests throughout the practice with experienced Surgeons able to tackle most cases. We are also involved in a large amount of canine reproduction work, performing TCI’s and Caesareans regularly. Orthopaedic cases are generally treated in house. Greyhound cases are also an interesting part of the practice caseload.

We see about 30% large animals, mainly consisting of pleasure horses, small ruminants and Beef and Dairy cattle. There is regular Cattle Pregnancy testing and Herd Health work undertaken.

Being two hours from the nearest referral facility, we manage most of our work in house, but when needed, we have dedicated owners who are willing to refer. We have plenty of equipment to help us provide the upmost patient care, including Digital Radiography, full suite of in-house IDEXX equipment (Procyte Dx, Catalyst DX, Coag, SediVue DX, VetStat), Rigid and Flexible Video Endoscopy, Colour Doppler Ultra-sound, and iM3 Dental equipment, etc.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We also have a full set of Surgery Toys to play with for use in Orthopaedic procedures, MMP/TTA, TPLO, Locking Plating kits, Ridgestop Patella repair kit etc.

Fully stocked large animal/on call vehicles are provided and shared between the vets.

We have dedicated receptionist staff and veterinary nurses. Core nursing staff are highly trained and efficient, and we also have new and recently qualified nurses who are already amazing and are receiving excellent training from the team.

The vets’ roster is based around a 4-day working week, and after working a weekend, you have a 4-day weekend. After hours are shared evenly between the full-time vets, and we utilise the Medechat Vet 24/7 service to minimise call.  Weekends are staffed by 2 vets, who share the on-call work. This means you are never on call more than one night in a row!

We also have a nursing on-call roster, so help is always available if needed. Renumeration is paid at an above Award hourly rate, and you are well compensated for any overtime, which is generally not excessive.

Bomaderry is located on the sunny South Coast of NSW, on the northern side of the Shoalhaven River, about 2 hours south of Sydney, 20 minutes from pristine Jervis Bay and the surf beaches of Culburra and Shoalhaven Heads. Looking westwards the surrounding State and National parks offer camping, climbing and bushwalking. COWRA, CENTRAL WEST - MIXED ANIMALNew Graduates welcome

MIXED PRACTICE VETERINARIAN

About the Position:
Are you looking for:

Then please keep reading!

We at Cowra Vet Centre are passionate about providing high standards of veterinary care to our patients and the best possible service to our clients. We pride ourselves on being animal welfare advocates for our patients large and small, by being their voice and recommending everything they need.

Sound good? Then we would like you to join the team at Cowra Veterinary Centre.

Due to ongoing growth in our business, the arrival of babies and our determination to be a family-friendly and mental-health friendly employer, we need more help. We are flexible about the position being full time or part time; we are also flexible about employing an experienced veterinarian or a new graduate and will negotiate salary accordingly.

About Us:
Cowra Veterinary Centre is a 2.5-vet rural mixed practice located in the central west of NSW. We moved into our new purpose-built clinic close to three years ago, so everything is very well designed, new and works really well.

Our caseload is approximately 3/4 small animal and 1/4 large animal (beef cattle, horses, sheep, dairy cattle). We are open 5.5 days per week and offer a 24-hour emergency service. We run a branch practice in a nearby town two afternoons per week.

We have a small, happy, and harmonious team with 6 vets (1 full time; 5 part time) and 10 nurses/receptionists (3 full time; 7 part time). We are well equipped with inhouse IDEXX (Catalyst and ProCyte), digital radiography, ultrasound, IM3 Elite unit (with dental x-ray to come) and have invested in excellent anaesthesia monitoring including ETCo2, ECG, temperature control and supportive therapy.

We have also recently invested in Equine dentistry equipment including Powerfloat and mobile crush as well as a mobile ultrasound machine for equine reproduction.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We believe in the importance of a good work-life balance (work to live, not live to work) so operate on a 4 day work week roster for our vets and nurses. We encourage positive mental health practices and continuing education for all staff. Cowra Veterinary Centre is a member of the Lincoln Institute Lead to Succeed training program.

Testimonial:
I recently undertook a placement at Cowra Veterinary Centre as a final year vet student.
The practice is an impressive custom built facility, fitted out and equipped out with digital x-ray, ultrasound, dental float, power tools, in house biochemistry and a fantastic microscope that is regularly serviced. This is a busy practice with a truly mixed caseload of large animals (cattle, sheep, goats, equine), small animals and a sizeable amount of wildlife.
The team dynamic at the practice was the best I have experienced all year, with welcoming, experienced and supportive nurses and veterinarians across all ages. Morale was always high - with a guaranteed lunch break each day and staff that prioritise mental health of their employees. A new graduate would be highly supported, mentored and welcomed into the local community.
As a student I found it a highly supportive environment where I was given freedom to practice and improve surgical and clinical skills without pressure or judgement. I was included in discussions and felt a valued member of the team. This would be an amazing position for a new graduate who is looking for a supportive transition into their career, or who is happy to work more independently with backup when required.

QUEANBEYAN, SOUTH-EASTERN REGION - SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcomeNew Position

Hi vets! Queanbeyan Veterinary Hospital is looking for a new vet to join our team – perhaps, a budding surgeon!?

Are you interested in progressing your surgical skills? QVH is a small animal practice with ten vets – working mixtures of part-time and full-time. We would be very happy to find an enthusiastic generalist. However, there is also a great opportunity for a candidate interested in more advanced surgical training. One of our partners, Louise, is a special interest surgeon with a high GP surgical caseload. Over the years she has mentored a number of vets, some of whom have gone on to do their memberships. We would welcome any applicants who are keen to pursue an interest in surgery and wanting to get involved with our surgical cases. There is also potential for special mentoring in behaviour and ultrasound.

Why Queanbeyan? We are a fantastic, friendly, and inclusive practice. Our clientele are generally lovely, and usually keen to fully work up cases, so you can practice medicine to a satisfyingly high standard. As part of the Capital Paws Group we have access to a wide network of vets with different special interest areas who are always keen to help. We have sonographers, surgeons, behaviourists, dentists and medicine gurus, a rehabilitation vet and reptile enthusiasts, among others. Whatever your question or interest there is someone to talk to. We have regular social and continuing education catch ups, and the level of collegiality is second to none. Our group is encouraging and supportive of continuing education, and skills development. If you're interested, we would love you to get involved with the group's animal health programmes in indigenous communities in the Northern Territory.

The Capital Paws partners are local vets who work in our hospitals and are dedicated to work life balance for everyone. The practices are extremely family friendly. We are open on Saturday mornings, but the rest of the weekend is our own. On our normal full-time roster we all have a regular weekday off. Management is really flexible though, if you have only specific hours you can work, please get in touch and discuss it with us.

Please click here to see photos! photos

What about the bells and whistles? Our clinics are delightfully well equipped with in house DR radiography, dental radiography, a great ultrasound machine (and in-house sonographer) and tonometry as some of our many handy tools.

What about the after hours? No after hours! We're so lucky in Canberra to have two emergency centres at night time and on the weekends, and the specialist centre just down the road from us. Out of hours, knowing our patients are in good hands.

Why the Canberra region? Canberra is honestly an undiscovered gem of a place to live. There is so much culture and beautiful outdoor space. As the capital, and home of all the embassies, the vibe is much more cosmopolitan than you might expect for a city of this size. We are convenient to the mountains and South Coast, and it is honestly so easy to dash to other places, such as Sydney, for a visit. The climate is beautiful and the air is fresh. You can get anywhere in town in under an hour! Coming with a family? This is an excellent city to raise kids, there are so many things to do (and if you join us, you're welcome to ask me about them!) Coming as a new grad? This is a lively city full of young professionals.

Who should apply? If you are a small animal vet with a love of providing high quality care, and this ad speaks to you, we would love to hear from you. Whether you are a new grad or an experienced hand, I am sure you will appreciate our warm and supportive environment. And remember, an interest in surgery could lead to a great career opportunity.

We are committed to providing support and mentoring for our new grads, and generally being an encouraging team for all staff across the group.

Want to know more? Please send any questions or applications to Louise Nicholls (louisen@queanbeyanvet.com.au) and Bill Taylor (billt@queanbeyanvet.com.au). With school holidays, one or other of us will be away over the next few weeks, so best to copy us both in!

KEMBLA GRANGE, WEST WOLLONGONG - SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

True or False...
Being a small animal Veterinarian leads to a life of adventure..?

Well, it's true...
And I'm looking for one who shares my passion for both animals and adventure!
A genuine, caring and capable vet who wants to help us help our patients to the best of their ability
and share with us the daily adventures and joys with grace and good humour.

I'm Joe...
Inspired by the TV show Daktari (you may need to Google it) I decided I was going to be a Vet...
Working in remote areas like Africa...
Saving wild animals...
Fighting the good fight against poaching!
And whilst animals need help everywhere...
If someone told me I would end up being a small animal vet with my own clinic I would have been devastated!!!
But that is what I have been doing for the past 22 years...

And yet, I found a way to satisfy my adventurous nature exploring and experiencing the world's remote and wild areas...
Cambodia with the Elephants...
Borneo with the Orangutans...
Bass Strait with the Blue Whales...
Africa in the wildlife parks...
Madagascar...
And even Antarctica!
I don't tell you this to brag...
I tell you this because, whilst being a Vet is a tough job and often gets a bad rap...
Being a Vet has afforded me a life of adventure and opportunity...
And I'd like to help another Vet enjoy their dream adventures and opportunities...

If this is you... then let me introduce you to The Grange Veterinary Clinic...
We have the opportunity for a small animal Veterinarian to join our team...
If you are someone who values relationships and loves people as much as their pets...
Then this is the place for you.
We have built our reputation not only for the excellent work we do, but on building relationships with our clients...
Relationships that span multiple generations!
At this point I could tell you about all the fancy equipment we have...
I could tell you about the joys of living where we are located...
I could bamboozle you with a shopping list of "benefits" that you will receive being a part of our team...

And whilst all that is indeed important...
What is most important to me...
Is to help another Veterinarian enjoy an incredibly rewarding career in a positive environment...
And to have the good fortune I have had bringing their dreams to life.

If this speaks to you (and you'll know it if it does)...
Then let's chat.
Email me at jkatsikaros8@bigpond.com and let's make a time.
You can ask me anything you want...
I'll tell you more about what we do and how we do it...
And if it sounds like a great opportunity for both of us, I am sure we will know it.

You can check us out on our website: www.thegrangevetclinic.com.au
And if you are curious about my adventures, then check out a few pics I have taken on Insta:joekats67

I look forward to chatting with you soon!

FORBES, CENTRAL WEST - MIXED New Graduates welcome

Forbes Veterinary Clinic
Central-West NSW
Mixed Practice Vet – New Grad or Experienced

We asked, listened and acted – enjoy the new & improved in-depth Forbes Vet Clinic ad!

What’s the workload?
We are a typical rural mixed practice with 60-70% smalies and 30-40% largies load. We encourage all our staff to become good all-round rural GP vets. If you have a particular species or subject you enjoy working with we can nurture you in that direction too. Our regular jobs for all our vets (including new grads) include:

Most of our patient’s needs we are able to fully service but if more complicated things are required we have the option of referral to Canberra (3hrs), Sydney (5hrs), Wagga (2.5hrs) and more experienced vets within 1.5hrs.

What’s the job like for a new grad?

We are new grad friendly! Prove it? We offer competitive, above award base salary plus hourly overtime rates, plus 50% after-hours fees (this can add >$10 000pa).

You lead the way with what you’re comfortable with –

These are all proven things that we can do – ask our current associates who started here as new grads!

How does the day roster work?
We work 4 x 9.5hr days with one week-day off a week. The current position would give you Wednesdays off but can be negotiated. Work 2 days, have a day off, work 2 days – how good!
The vet’s work day schedule:

The actual clinic opening hours are 8.30am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12pm on Saturdays (worked by the on call vet).

How does after hours work?
If you’re a new grad – you won’t be asked to do ANY after hours until you’ve a minimum of 3mths experience, unless you want to start sooner. Before doing on call, you are more than welcome to shadow one of the other vets to learn more skills.
Once you’re feeling comfortable with the new clinic settings our rota is 1 weeknight a week and 1 in 4 weekends. Public Holidays are rotated equal share each year so that means only 1 Christmas every 4 years and 1 Easter every 4 years etc.
You are paid 50% of every consult fee you charge, 50% of professional fees as well (surgery, xrays, board, hospitalisation, large animal visits).
After you do a weekend on call you get the following Friday off as a paid RDO. This gives you 1 in 4 weekends as a long weekend to do as you please.

What are the clients like?
We have friendly clients reflective of our rural community. They understand that some things take time and that we don’t always have the answers immediately but they trust in our dedication to follow up all our cases. Rude, unpleasant clients are not welcome at our clinic and will be redirected when identified!

What are the support staff like?
Each day we have minimum 3 nursing staff on the floor, a dedicated receptionist and a practice manager. There is always at least 2 fully qualified nursing staff who are efficient at IV placement, blood draw & running, radiographs, administering medications (IV, IM, SC), owner communication, surgery admission, patient triage. What can’t they do might be a shorter list? These staff are working alongside 2-3 vets per day.

What’s the workplace like?
It is a proper team. We all have each other’s back and are willing to share information with each other and put our heads together to nut out cases. Nobody leaves at the end of the day feeling the weight on their shoulders of any particular case – we all share the load together. Although it can get stressful like all busy workplaces we get through it with good communication. The gifts of chocolate, biscuits, fruit and muffins from clients and the daily 10.30am coffee van visit to the door probably helps too!

Why is Forbes a good place to live?
Well it depends on who you talk to!
Vet Vanessa – loves the sport options: hockey, netball, touch footy, soccer, tennis, volley-squash are the ones that she participates in! There’s also rugby, AFL, water-skiing and squash.
Vet Amy – loves the equestrian events that are numerous all within a couple of hours drive of Forbes
Nurse Alesha – enjoying seeing the locals each day and building rapport in our community

The community in general is very friendly. The town has 3 primary schools, 2 high schools, a preschool, and numerous day care options. Major shops include 2 supermarkets (inc woollies), kmart hub, bunnings, spotlight, maccas, KFC, subway, dominoes (although the local pizza shop is way better!). Other highlights are the lake in town which everyone loves to walk/run/cycle the 5-10km circuit of; the Lachlan river that’s good for fishing, kayaking and swimming in; town pool; great food options at pubs, clubs, cafes, restaurants, bakeries.

PS
The boring stuff: we have all the bells & whistles you’d be looking for in a mixed practice including fixed & portable digital xray, smallies ultrasound, 2 x largies ultrasounds, iM3 dental equipment,  endoscope, IDEXX CBC & Biochem in-house, pulse ox, ECG machine, fluid pumps, blood pressure monitoring. We use the RX Works computer system with a computer in each consult room, 1 in xrays & 1 in the back area.

We are open to NEW  GRADUATES, RECENT GRADUATES or EXPERIENCED VETS who wish to practice with companion animals, livestock and equine species. Our case mix is approximately 60% small animal; 20% equine and 20% livestock.

We are looking for positive individuals who are capable of working efficiently and conscientiously within a team environment. Our team is very supportive and enjoy learning from each other. We have a tight family feel to our clinic and we want that to stay as we all love coming to work, our clients often comment about how much fun it always sounds like we are having. We firmly believe skills can be taught, but personality can’t and we employ staff based on personalities and suitability to our workplace rather than on skills or marks, the successful applicants will immediately fit in and feel at home in our happy workplace.

We are offering above award salary complete with a fully equipped maintained and fuelled vehicle. We work a four day week with one night per week and one in six weekends on call. Four weeks annual leave plus annual paid conference leave is included in the package, we also pay standard conference fees and make financial allowances towards travel and accommodation.

There are never ending after work opportunities in this valley for the outdoor inclined from surfing our premier beaches, windsurfing/kitesurfing, water-skiing, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, hiking, horse riding the list goes on.

Success in a small town requires people who want to be involved in the community; all the vets who love it here (and those that have stayed for good) are actively involved in either cricket, surf club, netball, soccer, rugby, mountain biking, surfing, etc, outside of work and that is what we are looking for in new staff.

About the practice:

The mixed practice consists of a main clinic in Kempsey and a growing recently upgraded and extended branch clinic at South West Rocks. The clinics are well equipped with well-maintained equipment which we are always keen to upgrade and update. We have In-house complete Idexx lab equipment; 2x IM3 dental suites; tonovet tonometry; Fixed and portable DR digital x-ray equipment, Mylab Alpha ultrasound, internal and external fixation equipment, electrocautery and suction unit.

GRIFFITH, RIVERINA - MIXED PRACTICE - MIXED OR SMALL ANIMAL ONLY POSITIONNew Graduates welcome

Full Time Veterinarian Required (Small animal or Mixed) – 5 vet practice Small animal (90%) Large animal (10%)

Yoogali Veterinary Centre, situated in the centre of the Riverina, is seeking a passionate veterinarian to join our growing, 5 veterinarian, mixed practice team.

Since March ’19 we have been operating from a new, purpose built, state of the art Veterinary Hospital, with four consulting rooms (one of which functions as a grieving room with separate exit from the hospital), surgical suite with two operating tables, dental suite, a large treatment area, and separate cat and dog wards. We also have two on-site horse stables, with equine crush. The hospital is well equipped with all the toys you would expect from a top-quality veterinary hospital, including ultrasound, digital radiography, full Idexx lab, IM3 dental machine, dental radiography, vet-tome, algarbrush, orthopaedic equipment, electrosurgical unit, cryosurgery, pulse oximeter, ETCO2, ECG, blood pressure monitoring, endoscopy, tonometry, power float, patient warming systems- what more could you want!

Please click here to see photos! photos

We pride ourselves on trying to deliver gold standard treatment whenever possible, and our hospital is constantly evolving and looking for areas we can improve. With our nearest referral centres 2-3 hours away, there is ample opportunity to work up and follow through on a variety of complex cases. We are fortunate to have good clients who appreciate the opportunity for thorough work up.

Our vets work four days per week with one night on call during the week. Weekends are shared equally between our vets and consist of one Saturday shift from 8:00 to 12.30pm, with the remainder of the weekend on call. This roster allows plenty of time to explore this beautiful region and enjoy yourself! Our hospital encourages a good work-life balance, and the practice owner tries hard to create an environment where burnout is prevented. Our vets are entitled to (and encouraged to take) a one-hour lunch break each day, and we avoid scheduling consultations between 12.15pm and 2:30pm to ensure staff have enough time to have lunch and finish writing up morning consults.

We are looking for a keen, team-oriented veterinarian, who wants to work in a professional, and supportive environment. Special interests in surgery would be highly regarded (but are not essential). The position can easily be purely small animal if preferred. Further, we also service the local zoo so the position would suit a veterinarian with an interest in zoo animals.

Should you be interested, there is the opportunity to buy into the practice in the future.
Salary will be commensurate with experience, well above award, and regularly reviewed (~$150,000 salary package for experienced vet). All the usual entitlements to holidays and study leave apply. Continuing education is encouraged, and any special interests will be actively supported.

We are a friendly team, who regularly share baked treats, homegrown produce and spend time together outside of work drinking wine, bushwalking and horse-riding.

Griffith is a fast-growing regional centre, surrounded by culture, wineries, and fantastic food. There is an airport which operates flights to and from Sydney and Melbourne each day. For the athletically inclined, there are local teams for nearly every sport, and the Cocoparra National Park is just around the corner! Lake Wyangan and the Murrumbidgee River offer water sports and fishing with a local boat and sailing club.

To apply for this position, or for further information, please contact Dr. Kim Martel, the practice owner/manager, by phone or email. We are also happy to put you in touch with any of the associate veterinarians (past and present!), if you’d like to hear of their experiences at this practice.

We have RxWorks, Fuji digital CR x-ray, an Esaote ultrasound, IM3 dental unit, Olympus endoscope, multiple Niki infusion pumps, Doppler blood pressure monitor, pulse oximeters and more.

Our nursing staff are all cert IV qualified and most are highly experienced and a happy, cohesive team.

After hours duty is minimal (about two nights per month) as in Coffs Harbour all of the veterinary practices share after hours. We are on call one week in six and this is currently shared between all of our vets.

Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience and will exceed the modern award conditions.

The ideal candidate will be looking for practice equity, so experience is preferred but if you are a confident and enthusiastic recent graduate you are encouraged to apply.

Full time employment is preferred but flexibility exists on this.

So how can we do that for you?

Please click here to see photos! photos

This testimonial from one of our vets should convince you that this is the place for you!
I started as a new graduate in 2017 and am only leaving to try my hand overseas!  I was never pushed into doing anything I wasn't ready to do and could go at my own pace. The practice owner is super supportive and will still answer my calls even now to provide advice and assistance.
BTW it is an awesome team!!  All the nurses are very capable, and they make the job so easy so you can get on with being a vet.
The caseload is varied and interesting.  Because of the location, you get to “have a go”, rather than just referring everything …..so skills develop much quicker.
Orange is an amazing town.   There is always something happening!

Testimonial

“After spending two weeks at Moss Vale Veterinary Hospital completing a year 2 university placement, my confidence, knowledge and skills increased dramatically. The dedicated staff created a very approachable and encouraging learning environment that allowed me to embrace the experience and leave every day knowing that I had learnt something new. The practice manager, Jess, was very easy to communicate with and her passion for the clinic was evident in her interactions with clients and staff. The wonderful nurses gave me every opportunity to practice my skills and show me the ropes of the clinic. The two vets, Dr. Alex Johnston and Dr. James Blackshaw were great mentors and allowed me to be part of their consults and conduct my own consults, creating countless learning opportunities. In the 2 weeks that I was there, I felt like a valuable member of the team and could not recommend Moss Vale Veterinary Hospital highly enough, as a place to work or to visit as a client.”

KILLARNEY, SOUTHERN DARLING DOWNS, QLD/NSW BORDER - MIXED New Graduates welcome

1-2 Genuine Mixed Animal Veterinarians Wanted

Killarney Vets is seeking a mixed animal veterinarian/s preferably with 2 years or greater experience to join our practice. The job would also suit a veterinarian couple – 1 mixed animal veterinarian and 1 small animal veterinarian etc. Remuneration is well above award depending on experience and there is also the opportunity for partnership or to buy current owners out. We are also happy to take applications from new-grads however a lot of the work will be solo based with assistance available via phone at all times but not necessarily in person. Therefore, as a new-grad you would have to have a can-do attitude and resilience.

We are currently in the process of building a new small animal clinic with our horse breeding facilities being based at a separate site. We have all the latest toys from IDEXX in house lab, DR x-ray, high calibre ultrasound, cattle pregnancy ultrasound, smartflow software and ezyvet as our practice software. We are a very forward-thinking practice and offer a very high calibre of medical and surgical knowledge to our clients despite our small-town status. We are looking for a fellow veterinarian/s who are willing to offer our clients the same degree of high calibre veterinary care.

The clinic is a genuine mix of 50% small and 50% large animal. The small animal case load consists of general consultations, internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and orthopaedics. The large animal case load consists of mostly beef cattle with ambulatory work, pregnancy testing, bull testing and AI, a small portion of dairy work, horse ambulatory work, internal medicine and on-site horse breeding. Killarney Vets services a wide area including into Northern NSW with a consulting room in Woodenbong. The clinic has been established for over 30 years and has deep community roots in the area.

Please click here to see photos! photos

The working hours are 8-5am Monday to Friday with on call offered weeknights and weekends. We work hard during the day but our on-call load is very light with an average of 1 call out every 2nd night and minimal over the weekend. Our clinic normally runs as a 2.5 vet clinic but the recent loss of 2 of our permanent vets has left us working as a 1-1.5 vet clinic. We currently have a mixed practice intern veterinarian that is shared in a 3 week out of 9 rotation with 2 other clinics in Warwick. We have secured a longer-term locum to cover the gap in our staffing from September through to January as 1 of the senior veterinarians and owners will be on maternity leave. She will be aiming to return to work on a part time basis in the new year.

Killarney is located 2.5 hours from Brisbane, 1.5-1.75 hrs from Gatton and 1.5 hours from Toowoomba. Therefore, we are well situated to refer things as needed, and our clients are willing to refer most times. We also have access to a travelling specialist surgeon who we have utilised on many occasions for clients who do not necessarily wish to transport their pets to referral centres.

Our small team of nurses are young, fun and always trying to offer our clients the best opportunities to have their animals looked after while also trying to ensure the vets are not over-worked. With the current veterinarian staffing crisis the whole industry is facing we are acutely aware of looking after our vets.

If this sounds like a job opportunity you would like please don’t hesitate to contact us!

You will be a good listener, communicator, and enjoy sharing your findings and discussing treatment options. A special interest in equine dentistry medicine & surgery would be viewed favourably.

You will join a family-friendly team with a flexible work schedule that supports your professional and personal needs, even if that means minimal after-hours. You will enjoy a comfortable work pace, plenty of time to reflect on cases, discuss treatment options and write up notes, with unlimited access to both large and companion animal board-certified specialists for assistance. The position is full time but part-time applicants can be accommodated and are encouraged to apply.

Remuneration is markedly above award rates with a potential for partnership, and we are willing to consider any other benefits that are important to you, such as: paid registration fees, flexible time off, AVA/VIN/CVE memberships, conference attendance, temporary accommodation and/or relocation assistance for you (and your horse!)

Whether you are a new graduate looking for an inspiring start to your career, or a seasoned vet (disillusioned by ridiculous schedule pressures, broken promises, unreachable KPIs, lack of support), or you are just looking for a change, we believe we have a unique and unparalleled offering. New graduates will be nurtured, supported and mentored through a structured induction program and ongoing skills development. Those with experience will be encouraged to pursue areas of special interest and offered CPD, mentoring and/or time off to achieve their professional aspirations or membership accreditation.

Although referral centres are an option, we are well equipped to take on and manage some of the more complex, challenging and rewarding surgical and medical cases. Not only does this foster increased skills development, but also provides for heightened levels of professional satisfaction and client gratitude.

MAYFIELD, NEWCASTLE - SMALL ANIMALNew Graduates welcome

About me

Recently our staff room has been filling up with chocolates, wine, boxes of fruit, and cards (on our chalk board) filled with wonderful messages of gratitude and heartfelt thanks, for the years we have looked after their best friend. Many of these I taught at puppy school all those years ago. And I have reflected on what a privilege it’s been to be entrusted with their loved one over this journey. This is why I became a vet, and why I still enjoy my career.  To be able to make a big difference in peoples lives by doing what I love. Over each furry lifespan, I have seen how much they enrich people’s lives, helping them through hardships & family loss, being there for them during times of depression, giving unconditional love, loyalty and company to the lonely, as well as being security and fun to so many kids and parents alike.  I have had the honor to be part of this journey, entrusted with something so precious, which has made my profession so rewarding to me.  I still get choked up at those farewell moments, because I still care, and always will.

We are a family practice run by myself with the help of my wife Harriet. We have 4 school age kids, so our work needs to be flexible, and I extend that flexibility to those who work with us. Our practice has strong family values, we all look after each other.

MILDURA, NORTH-WEST VIC/NSW BORDER - MIXED OR SMALL ANIMALNew Graduates welcome

Mildura Veterinary Hospital is a large, purpose-built practice within easy walking distance of the centre of town in Mildura, VIC. We are an independent, family-owned practice of 7 vets (6 FTE and 1 part-time) and are looking to expand our team – we would consider taking on up to FOUR new vets for the right applicants (three years ago we did just this – see our Facebook page for details of the ‘fab four’!).

We are a mostly small-animal practice, with the occasional large animal, and as such would be happy to take on EITHER a mixed animal veterinarian, OR a small animal only veterinarian.

Mildura is situated on the beautiful Murray River and is a 4-hour drive from Adelaide, and a 6-hour drive from Melbourne, and there are daily flights available also.
We are an AVA new graduate friendly practice, but all levels of experience welcome to apply, with salary negotiable (depending on experience).

The practice premises have recently undergone extensive renovations, with more to come in the immediate future. Currently we have 4 dedicated consulting rooms, a grooming room, a dedicated grieving/quiet room, separate dog and cat wards, separate large brand-new isolation ward, a large separate sterile surgery with dual tables, separate radiology/ultrasound room, and large central treatment room with a wet table, and dual treatment/minor surgical tables.

We are very proud of our roster and working conditions which are very flexible. Most of our vets choose to work a 7 day per fortnight cycle (FTE – weekdays only as we are closed on weekends) but this is negotiable, and candidates are welcome to work shorter shifts Mon-Fri to make up FTE hours if this is preferable. Our emphasis is on an attractive and sustainable work life balance and for this reason, individual preferences and needs are always taken into account in all aspects of our practice. Time off is highly valued, and it is almost never a ‘no’ when a request for time away from the practice is made, whether this be for annual leave or other reasons.

We strive to provide a highly supportive environment for all staff – you will never be sole charge – one of the many benefits of being part of a large team. After hours is flexible and is shared evenly, and remuneration is excellent: up to 90% of professional fees are paid for work undertaken. Additionally, an RDO is accrued for every weekend covered on call. Support from one of the senior vets is always available, day or night.

Our wonderful team of nurses are all either Certificate 4 qualified or are currently enrolled in study. Our nurses are not just glorified cleaners, but rather play an active role in patient care and veterinary support – you can rely on them to monitor and report on your inpatients, ensure treatment schedules are carried out, take blood and urine samples and run diagnostics as requested, place IV catheters, set up for and assist with all procedures, and to provide continuous monitoring of your patients through surgery and into recovery, with dedicated one-on-one nurse-to-patient care ratio. Our two head nurses are not only cert 4 qualified but also each have their Diploma in general practice, and are currently undertaking further study.

Our aim is to to provide our patients and clients with the highest standards of veterinary care and attention achievable in general practice. We have a team-oriented approach to our cases, and tackle a wide variety of medical and surgical challenges. We have a dedicated hospital nurse each day. Referral is always offered to our clients for difficult cases, but being four hours from the nearest capital city means we have a unique opportunity to perform a variety of surgical procedures. We set a premium on pain management, preventative health care, and early behavioural modification, with puppy preschool courses run on site by our nurses.

We have all the usual equipment found in general practice, including but not limited to;

Special interests are encouraged, and continued education is highly valued with generous course and conference expenses covered by the practice.

One of the current practice principals has a special interest in soft tissue surgery, and performs a reasonable amount of brachycephalic surgery including airway, skin fold, and screw tail surgery.

Dr Ian Japp, the previous practice principal, still works with us on a casual basis, coming in for orthopaedic surgeries as needed. An applicant with an interest in orthopaedics would, therefore, be supported and encouraged!

We are a supportive and social team and hold get togethers both inside and outside of work hours. We hold regular staff meetings, which are fully catered for by the practice.

Employment package includes:

We are happy to provide contact details of both our current, and past, veterinarians, upon request, so that you can find out for yourself what it is like to work at MVH.

For any questions, or to chat about the position please contact Dr Katherine Overs
on 0423-467331, or email katherineovers@gmail.com
