We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Nurse and Clinic Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day operations of our onsite vet clinic. This full-time role involves a balanced mix of clinical and administrative duties, with approximately 50% of your time spent on clinical tasks and the other 50% on administrative responsibilities. You will collaborate with our Breeding and Reproduction Care Manager and Veterinary team to ensure the highest standards of care for our dogs.
As a key member of our team, you will assist in surgeries, maintain veterinary records, and provide training and support to our canine staff and volunteers.
Reporting to the Breeding and Reproduction Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the daily operations of the vet clinic, including phone management, appointment scheduling, stock inventory, and invoicing.
- Assisting veterinarians during examinations, consultations, and medical treatments.
- Providing surgical nursing support, including patient admissions, theatre setup, anaesthetic monitoring, and patient recovery.
- Ensuring the clinic is maintained in a clean, secure, and hygienic state.
- Reviewing and creating safe work procedures for equipment and chemical hazard assessments to ensure staff and visitor safety.
- Assisting the veterinary team with X-ray and ultrasound procedures.
- Maintaining accurate medical records across multiple databases.
- Participating in a rotating whelping roster, including weekend and after-hours duties.
About you
Our ideal Vet Nurse and Clinic Coordinator will demonstrate:
- Minimum Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, with a minimum of 3 years' experience
- Surgical nursing experience.
- Confidence in monitoring anaesthesia for routine and non-routine surgeries.
- Exceptional organisational and communication skills.
- Excellent dog handling skills and the ability to lead and control dogs effectively.
- A strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Open Driver’s Licence.
- Current Tetanus and Q-Fever immunisations (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable skills include anaesthesia or surgical nursing training, experience in canine reproduction, PennHIP certification (or willingness to obtain), and dental/intraoral radiography experience.
