Here’s what one of our nurses has to say about our team…
“When I first started after almost 20 years in the industry, I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the nursing team. It didn’t take long to discover that training staff to grow their skill set was a high prior for the management team. They recognized that having well trained staff, working as a valued part of a high performing team, would lead to increased job satisfaction while also setting them apart from others in the industry. There is a confidence building, encouraging approach to learning with plenty of room to advance my skills as a veterinary nurse.
I also enjoy the distinct family approach to patient care from the reception team to the veterinarian and nursing team, everyone works in conjunction to provide a gold standard level of patient care.
The positive, encouraging and inclusive culture that is inspired by an approachable management team and carried throughout the business is the reason I love going to work.”

OUR STORY
Hello, Kylie here!
I am a full time mum to 3 beautiful girls (aged 7, 5 and 2), part time vet, full time practice owner… and for funsies (and destressing!) I have started my own hobby business on the side.
I have worked at a number of small animal clinics, and was never quite satisfied…
I wanted more!
I wanted to feel I was giving 100% care and support to my clients and patients every time.
I wanted a team I loved and could support, and a team that loved me back and were there to support me too.
Then I met Erica…
Hi, I’m Erica!
I’m not a mum, but I feel like that’s ok for me. I am a full time vet, full time practice owner, a full time sci-fi nerd, and a part time aerialist.
I have always loved my work, even through the ups and downs.
Through working in a few different practices I formed my own view on what I think it means to provide great veterinary care, and what makes a great workplace.
I soon found that Kylie shared my views too!
And so an idea started…
A great friendship turned into a great partnership, so…
In November 2018 we opened the doors to a family owned small animal clinic - North Maclean Family Vet – and haven’t looked back!
OUR CLINIC
As a new clinic, we have all of the usual fantastic modern equipment.
Our clients constantly tell us they love our fresh and clean clinic!
We practice high quality medicine, and will regularly involve in-house specialists in our patient care.
Our mobile cardiologist offers in house workups, preventative screenings and extensive knowledge.
Our mobile internal medicine specialist visits regularly to aid our diagnostic workups, and is always pushing our knowledge and level of care as much as he can! He is a fantastic asset to our team.
Our nursing team is involved in all aspects of our patient care – this includes front of house service, performing nurse consults and team consulting, nursing our in-patients and monitoring our surgical patients and anaesthetics!
We recognise our patients are individuals and treat them as such… our clients really appreciate this!
OUR TEAM
We are a close knit team made up of 3 vets and 5 nurses. Our work family is an extension of our own family. We are supportive of each other whenever possible.
Most importantly, we like to have fun!
Being involved in our local community is really important to us, and we are constantly finding ways that we can give back – we have decided that we will all learn AUSLAN (Australian Sign Language) to assist our hearing affected clients.
Sustainability in a world full of many disposables is also important to us, and we all work together to reduce our wastage and recycle wherever we can!
Last year we became involved with B1G1 – we are now regularly involved in giving back to communities/organisations that are important to our team.
We asked our team why they loved working for us, and here is what they said…
“North Maclean Family Vet is an extremely furry friendly and client focused practice. Both Dr Erica and Dr Kylie are exceptional vets with extensive knowledge of clients and patients. I’m so very proud to work here. Every shift is a great shift with plenty of laughs. All the staff are brilliant!”
“I may be biased but it is the best clinic that I have worked in! Also, Dr Kylie and Dr Erica are excellent at hiring the best of the best!”
“I didn’t know it was possible to have work life balance in the veterinary industry until I joined the North Maclean Family Vet team. In my 15+ years in the industry I have never found a clinic to be more in touch with the needs of their clients, patients and very importantly their staff! Joining this team was one of the best decisions I have ever made and I can’t imagine ever working anywhere else.”
“The North Maclean team have done an amazing job at making me feel a part of the team and family. I always look forward to an exciting day at work!”
