In our hospital you’ll get to see everything on your nursing bucket list!

An opportunity presents…

We are an easy-going bunch who love a good practical joke, especially when Dr Louis is involved!

Here’s what one of our nurses has to say about our team…
“When I first started after almost 20 years in the industry, I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the nursing team. It didn’t take long to discover that training staff to grow their skill set was a high priority for the management team. They recognized that having well trained staff, working as a valued part of a high performing team, would lead to increased job satisfaction while also setting them apart from others in the industry.  There is a confidence building, encouraging approach to learning with plenty of room to advance my skills as a veterinary nurse.
I also enjoy the distinct family approach to patient care from the reception team to the veterinarian and nursing team, everyone works in conjunction to provide a gold standard level of patient care.

dermatology for animals logo

Experienced Veterinary Nurse – Full time

Established in 1998, Dermatology for Animals provides the veterinary dermatology service within the majority of specialist multi-disciplinary veterinary hospitals in Queensland, as well as providing dermatology referral services to regional centres in Queensland, Northern Territory and New South Wales. We are now looking for additional veterinary nurses to join our expanding team of veterinarians, nurses and administrators in south-east Queensland.

We are seeking self-motivated, enthusiastic nurses, who want to excel in providing first rate nursing care, and who are capable across the broad range of skills that encompass veterinary nursing in a dermatological environment. This not only involves utilising patient nursing skills, but also learning about new techniques, becoming competent in dermatological diagnostics, and communicating with clients both in person, by phone and by email.

Veterinary dermatology is unique amongst referral disciplines in fostering long-term relationships with clients and patients. It’s less about fixing our patients and sending them on their way, and more about managing their issues so that they and their owners can live their best lives. It’s also unique in that dermatology rarely presents with genuine emergencies, and this allows us all to have an enviable work-life balance.

The Vet Lounge Ormeau, Gold Coast (posted 25th October) Head Nurse/Team Leader

the vet lounge logo

Head Nurse / Team Leader

Normally, in the first few lines of a job advert, you’d read some rabbiting on about how awesome our facility is and how we provide the highest standards of client and patient care. Not this time. While those things are essential, there’s something else more important. THE PEOPLE you work with.

So to introduce you to us, I’m going to lead with a personal note that our Vet Director Dr Andres shared with all the nursing team on Vet Nurse Day. This is reflective of what our vets at The Vet Lounge think of Veterinary Nurses.

‘I look back to the very early days of being a Vet. From placing a catheter to performing surgeries. I learned more from nurses than I did from Vets. That ability to multitask, organise and think outside the box is incredible. You put everything and everyone first and that is a unique way of living. The level of compassion, empathy and love for your patients and their parents is enviable. Skipping lunch, getting soiled, bitten, scratched, dealing with disgruntled people, having to look after, clean after, console, guide, support and sometimes even think for us vets. Even when it sometimes feels one sided. You guys are the foundation, the strength and the real talent. You should know this, and you should be proud. You are all truly amazing. I sincerely hope you all know this. Happy Vet Nurse Day!’.

Who are we?
The Vet Lounge! We have 3 locations - Ormeau, Coomera & Currumbin and we’re well known for these 3 things;

  1. Providing excellent patient care in high quality facilities
  2. Providing excellent client care and respect for our clients (because they are truly great!). We have a 4.9 star Google rating!
  3. Providing all staff with a positive, supportive & respectful working environment. You won’t find toxicity in the workplace here. 😊

Position Location?
Ormeau on the Gold Coast. It’s a great location, central to both the Southern suburbs of Brisbane and Northern suburbs of the Gold Coast. We’re only 2 minutes off the M1, so very easy to get to!

Who we need
A Full-Time, Head Veterinary Nurse / Team Leader, to join our team of 2 vets & 5 nurses.

What does the position entail?

The perfect person for our team will;
Hold a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and have a minimum of 2 years’ nursing experience (previous management, or leadership experience a huge advantage!).

Roster: Mostly weekdays with the very occasional Saturday (if required).

Pay: Negotiable, depending on experience

If you’re interested in becoming part of this wonderful team of vets & nurses, please send your CV & cover letter to mary@vetlounge.com.au. All applications confidential.
