Hey Bud Vet, Hawthorne, South-East Brisbane (posted 27th February)

hey bud logo

Full-time Veterinary Nurse or Veterinary Technician

Have you ever dreamed of a veterinary practice that goes beyond the ordinary, a place where animals, the community, and the veterinary team unite to give pets the best life possible? We’re building exactly that, and we’d love for you to be part of it.

Our fresh, vibrant, 100% family-owned start-up in Hawthorne, Brisbane, is looking for a full-time Vet Tech/Vet Nurse to join our small but mighty team. If you’re excited about reimagining vet care, bringing warmth, creativity, and expertise to every interaction, we could be the perfect fit.

What makes us different?
We are rethinking veterinary care from the tip of the nose to the end of the tail. We believe veterinary care should be more than just medical treatment. It should be about education, advocacy, and truly understanding pets. Our clinic is a welcoming space where pets feel safe, their humans feel supported, and the community comes together to share knowledge and care.

We are embracing new ways to connect with pet parents, helping them understand and support their pets in ways that go beyond the consultation room. If you thrive in a dynamic environment, love working collaboratively, and enjoy thinking creatively about how to improve patient and care and client experience, this is an opportunity to be part of something special.

In return, we offer a workplace where you will feel valued, supported, and encouraged to grow. You will be part of a team that is dedicated to providing exceptional care and making a lasting impact.

How we work
We’re more than your typical vet clinic. Sure, we do health checks, desexings and vaccinations, but our days are anything but routine. We thrive on the tricky workup cases, the chronic conditions, the emergency surgeries, and the moments when pets (and their people) need us most. Every day is different, and every role in our team is valued.

About you:
That you’ll love animals and people goes without saying. Your other loves could be books, movies, coffee, tech devices, folk dancing, surfing, yoga or Mario Kart! We love diversity and we’ll support the person you are.

Of course you will also need:

We can’t wait to see how your skills and interests will add to the vibrant culture we’re building together!

About the role:
To start, this role will be broad, giving us time to settle in and discover where your unique skills shine as we grow together. Beyond the daily rhythm of the clinic, you’ll be a key part of redefining what pet care can be, bringing fresh ideas that elevate the experience for pets, their people, and the team.

Your impact will be felt everywhere - creating a warm and supportive space for clients and pets, providing expert hospital care, and handling essential clinical tasks with skill and confidence. From admit to discharge, you’ll guide patients through their journey with empathy and expertise. You’ll take the lead on technical responsibilities like collecting blood samples, processing diagnostics, placing IV catheters, managing hospital patients, positioning for x-rays, and performing anaesthetic monitoring (spO2, ECG, BP, and capnography). Of course, the little things that keep a clinic running smoothly such as cleaning, admin, and teamwork are all part of the mix too.

In return you will enjoy:

Small Animal General Practice
BRISBANE
Immediate start

My Local Vet is an award winning, boutique small animal veterinary practice located in the leafy suburb of Capalaba, QLD. We offer a premium veterinary service to the community and take great pride in the standard of care we provide to our patients. We’re a seriously FUN and supportive team with a focus on personal development, upskilling, and team-building.

Thanks to my insatiable appetite for debt and a passion for paying interest, we have a brand new, purpose-built, state-of-the-art hospital facility that my kids will still be paying off long after I’m gone. Check out the Bank’s promo video https://youtu.be/p0_k1iXj6l4?si=uCyjg0qAItaSplyy. Thanks a million BOQ Specialist... literally 😉

With 4 consult rooms, separate dog and cat wards, a dental suite, surgical theatre, radiology room, huge treatment area, and a dedicated sunset room - you won't find yourself lacking places to hide when the vet asks you to help trim a pug's nails. There's even a hammock for your lunchbreak siesta and an individual sound system for each area so you can personalise your workspace!

Our nursing team actually get to nurse! After all, it’s what they were trained to do. Intubation, anaesthetic monitoring with the full suite of toys (capnography, oscillometric BP, ECG), radiology, professional descaling, nurse consultations, etc. They're not cleaning cages all day. Far from it, they're engaged in challenging, professionally-fulfilling work, and at the end of the day they don't have to worry about taking out bins or doing the floors – they leave that for the cleaners!

Our team have created a workplace culture that’s nothing short of inspirational. In fact, the University of Georgia (USA) uses My Local Vet as a model for teaching vet students about wonderful workplace culture! True story. We dress to a theme on the last Friday of every month and have wine and cheese nights with our best clientele.

dermatology_for_animals_logo.jpg

Veterinary Nurse | Dermatology for Animals | Part Time & Full Time Positions

Established in 1998, Dermatology for Animals provides the veterinary dermatology service within the majority of specialist multi-disciplinary veterinary hospitals across Queensland.

We are now looking for Part-time and Full-time veterinary nurses to join our expanding team of veterinarians, nurses and administrators in south-east Queensland.

We are seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic, and experienced nurse, who wants to excel in providing first rate nursing care, and who is capable across the broad range of skills that encompass veterinary nursing in a dermatological environment. This not only involves utilising patient nursing skills, but also learning about new techniques, becoming competent in dermatological diagnostics, and communicating with clients both in person, by phone and by email.

Veterinary dermatology is unique amongst referral disciplines in fostering long-term relationships with clients and patients. It’s less about fixing our patients and sending them on their way, and more about managing their issues so that they and their owners can live their best lives. It’s also unique in that dermatology rarely presents with genuine emergencies, and this allows us all to have an enviable work-life balance.

In this role you will have the opportunity to travel across metropolitan and regional Queensland, providing dermatology referral services within specialist multi-disciplinary veterinary hospitals.
