BAIRNSDALE, EAST GIPPSLAND - MIXED, SMALL ANIMAL OR SMALL ANIMAL/EQUINE WELCOME
Eastwood Vets in Bairnsdale are looking for new vets to join our team. We are a small family owned clinic with a focus on building a supportive and nurturing workplace for our staff to provide quality care to our patients. We welcome applications from experienced vets who can hit the ground running or new graduates, semi retired, vet mums and vets who have been out of the industry for a while and wish to dip a toe back in the water – we love providing a working environment where people can learn and build confidence whether that be as new graduates or re-entering the workforce after a period out of the industry. All you need to bring is a can do attitude and the rest will be history.
Who are we?
Eastwood Vets – not the Ballarat ones, the Bairnsdale ones. We are a reasonably young clinic having been under our current management for four years. Our clinic philosophy is to support our staff and their families to the best of our ability whilst providing quality care to our patients. We have a strong family focus and specialise in providing flexible working conditions to accommodate your needs and provide work-life balance.
Our team consists of five vets, 6 amazing certificate 4 nurses, 2 trainees and a receptionist. We are situated in a purpose built facility with digital xray (smallies and equine), in house bloods and general pathology capabilities, ultrasound (smallies and equine), portable and fixed equine crushes (for your safety), IM3 ‘elite’ dental machine (for your sanity) and plenty of other toys to assist in your diagnostic work ups.
More important stuff to know about working at Eastwood vets
- Awesome café right next door – great coffee, good food, on tap.
- Family friendly – we all have, have had, or want to have young families and we want our families to be a priority. So, while we may not be able to offer “school hours” we are all about compromise so that the important stuff in your life gets the time it deserves
- Work life balance – we love hobbies, we encourage and support hobbies. We work to live, not the other way around and we hope that you are the same. We value doing a good job and we won’t compromise on the quality of care that our patients and clients receive but we also value our own sanity, and we will bend to make sure we all maintain happiness in our workplace and stella mental health.
Where are we
Eastwood, in Bairnsdale…… Google it…. The Travel Victoria website will tell you everything you need to know about the beautiful East Gippsland region that you could learn to call home. There’s lots of stuff here… All the things you need (schools, daycare, kindergarten, pharmacy, café, supermarket, dental and doctors clinics all in the shopping centre next door to the clinic), plus there is lots of fun stuff too (snowfields, beaches, hundreds of sporting clubs across a huge variety of sports, the iconic Gippsland Lakes, all within stone throw from the clinic).
Sensible stuff you probably do need to know:
Whilst we are a mixed general practice we provide a wide range of companion animal and equine services, we currently provide limited farm animal services due to time constraints. We would be happy to accommodate smallies only vets, smallies equine vets very comfortably and welcome anyone with and interest in farm animal practice, but it would take time to grow the caseload in this area. Pay and all conditions are in accordance with current award.
Employer sponsorship (work visa) considered for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.
Please email applications or call the clinic and speak to Meg.

MACEDON RANGES - MIXED - CLINICAL LEAD
Clinical Lead – Romsey Veterinary Clinic
Full-time Clinic Leadership Position
Mixed Animal Clinic | Awesome Team and Community
Apiam Leadership Training and Support
Our 'Why'
We are a truly unique veterinary team. In a world where many vet clinics are scaling back on what they offer their clients and their employees, we continue to see and care for the full gamut of creatures, whether it be in the clinic, in our surrounds, or beyond. We do this because we are passionate about what we do, but also because we understand that all animals sometimes need our help. We come to work to collaborate, share ideas and aim for our patients' best possible outcome. We embrace the challenging aspects that come from seeing and performing such a varied range of services. Variety is the spice of life!
We love where we live and how rich the rewards can be for your career as a vet. You can spend your entire day amidst the thrills that only vets who do outcalls know about. Then you can be in Melbourne's CBD less than 60 minutes later to take advantage of all the city has to offer.
If in-clinic vet work is more your thing then we have the experience in our team to cover almost everything, and we empower our vets to manage their cases but with the support of our peers. We regularly and routinely workup medical and surgical cases on a huge array of small ruminant patients too - who said you can't provide the same level of veterinary care to a farm animal as you would to a dog, cat or horse?

About us:
The clinics' current clinical lead veterinarian, Dr Josh Ellis, is moving on after 16 years in the practice. During this period Romsey Vet has provided all the professional fulfilment he could have hoped for and he is dedicated to hand over the role to someone with the drive and charisma to continue to make this a truly great practice.
During the last 2 and a half years the clinic has joined with Apiam Animal Health and has not looked back. We are well supported, operate with an amazing level of autonomy, and are able to reap all of the clinical and staff benefits provided by being a part of a larger organisation. As a part of Apiam, we are committed to enriching the lives of animals, people and the communities where we live and strive as a company to deliver our vision of healthy animals and happy people.
The Romsey Veterinary Surgery is fully equipped to manage medical and surgical cases in the full range of companion animals, equine and livestock species. We have a team of vets and nurses who can tackle almost anything, including orthopaedics and TPLO, but we also have the amazing ability to easily refer patients to nearby small animal or equine specialist and hospital facilities when it is required. This allows us to provide the best possible level of care and maximise outcomes.
We treat companion animals as well as sheep, cattle, goats, horses, alpaca and pigs- we see some of everything and are a true mixed animal clinic. The equine caseload is relatively low but could be grown, but we also have a range of local equine vets that we collaborate with who handle all the stud and performance work in our region.
The main drawcard for our clinic is our amazing team of rockstar receptionists and nurses. Besides that, our clinic is comprised of a spacious waiting room and consult rooms, treatment area, sterile surgery theatre etc and we have full in house Idexx blood machines (including ability to run coags, Sedivue), as well as a whiz bang Xray and ultrasound machine. A work vehicle is provided for outcalls and on-call.
About the position:
- We are looking for a motivated, energetic and experienced mixed animal veterinarian who can lead our team of 5 vets.
- Shared afterhours and weekend work with the support of our awesome Vetriage Team, who screen our calls, organise everything and take deposit payments. Our afterhours caseload is generally low, (you are more likely to NOT get a call out on a given night during the week!)
- Whether you're an experienced leader or stepping into leadership for the first time, Apiam provides professional and personal leadership training. Our support goes beyond just ticking a box – mentorship and ongoing facilitated support helps to ensure you succeed
Your 'Why'
