LAVINGTON, ALBURY/WODONGA REGION, NSW/VIC BORDER - SMALL ANIMAL New Position

Seeking a PT veterinarian to join our team.

A bit about us:
Our hospital is 5 years old this year and we have enjoyed a welcomed response from the community and have a well-established and lovely client base. We have 3 senior vets with different areas of expertise, who complement each other very well, as well as 2 other recent/new grad (2023) on the team. We operate on a 2-3 vets per day basis currently.

We start each day off with a ‘morning huddle’, where all team members have a look at the schedule for the day, share a daily win we have had and ensure clarity in everyone’s roles for that day.

Currently we have rostered surgery days where you will do surgery in the morning and consult in the afternoon and consulting days. When you join us and are comfortable, we have the capacity to increase surgery to 2 vets per day as we have separate dog and cat surgery rooms. Our surgery caseload is varied and across the board with routine and non-routine

Our consults are mostly 30 minutes, giving you time to get to know clients, do a thorough examination and discuss treatment plans. We have an experienced support team, including a dedicated receptionist, senior nurses and trainee nurses. We support the nursing team’s growth by getting them to do as much as they can so you can focus on vet work.

We are currently seeking an experienced PT vet who would work 2-3 days per week, 8am-6pm. After hours is evenly shared – currently each vet does one night per week and one weekend in 4. Call outs are very minimal, manageable, and very lucrative. It is expected that you would contribute fairly to the after hours roster. We utilise Vet Chat as a teletriage in the first instance, so you are only being asked to answer phone calls when they have been deemed an emergency. The teletriage system has seen a 70% drop in our after hours phone call disturbances to the vet on call.

A little bit about you:
We are looking for someone who has:

A little bit about our hospital
We are currently a daytime GP hospital with a vet on call for afterhours, but we are investigating options of having a night shift. This is an area we hope to grow into. This would open up the possibility for emergency work, which is very different to daytime GP work. We are very excited about this possibility, but don’t have any concrete details to share, except to fully inform any applicant that this could be something coming to our hospital.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We are well set up and some of our major equipment includes:

We are registered as a Gold ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic and run Ezyvet as our Practice management software.

We practice hospital excellence and are continually self-evaluating our protocols to ensure best practice is achieved.

Ongoing CPD and team training:
This is critical for everyone in the team. We advocate for ongoing learning with regular team training and refresher training, practice membership to VIN, Vet Education webinars and ISFM. You will also be supported with a study allowance of $1500 PA and 1 week study leave per year all pro-rata.

We have monthly nurse and vet meetings to ensure smooth flow of hospital procedures and discuss projects we are working on. We hold a Team meeting quarterly where we close the clinic and discuss non-clinical training.

Teaching:
We pride ourselves on being a hospital, that advocates training and teaching, generally hosting veterinary nursing students and vet students where we can. Once you have found your feet, we would love for you to teach others, as teaching is also an amazing confidence building experience and really gets you comfortable with the content.

A little bit about Albury-Wodonga:
The clinic is located in Albury (Lavington) but the area is generally referred to as Albury-Wodonga. Albury being located on the NSW side of the Murray River and twin sister city - Wodonga being located on the Victorian side. Together the area offers great out-of-work lifestyle opportunities, many outdoor places to explore, in winter the snow fields are only an hour or so away. It is a large enough city to have all of your major shops and services, but small enough to still have that country feeling.

You can visit our Facebook page to see some photos of the clinic and get a ‘feel’ for the team - or we welcome you to come and meet the team.

For all enquiries please contact:
Dr Sally Henry (Veterinarian & Practice Manager) by phone 0402 902 326 or via email manager@alburyanimalhospital.com.au

Testimonial from a vet student:
Aimee initially did university practical placement with us but has then come back to do some nursing for experience during the holidays. Here’s what she had to say: “After I completed placement at Dr Jana’s in the summer of 2020, I returned as a nurse both after my placement and in the summer of 21-22. My choice to return was to do with the amazing and supportive team who became like family to me. Each of the vets has been an excellent mentor and all the nurses are incredible to work with. The clinic provides a safe environment to learn and excel and would be the perfect place for a new grad to start their journey
– This vet now works for us. – Dr. Aimee Owens.

SYDNEY SOUTH WEST - SMALL ANIMALS New Graduates welcome

Wollondilly Animal Hospital is independently owned and operated.

Located in Picton (2571) the clinic is less than an hour from Sydney CBD, thirty minutes from Wollongong’s beaches and thirty minutes from Bowral and the Southern Highlands.

Our recently refurbished and expanded hospital is bright, clean and spacious.

Please click here to see photos! photos

Our nurses are highly competent and trained to allow you to focus on our patient’s care and client’s needs.

We’re small enough to know many of our clients by name but large enough to see lots of interesting cases; and to support each other as needed.

Our appointments allow you plenty of time to work up cases and keep on top of your work.

Lunch breaks are mandatory and time is scheduled for case notes. Nurses will do your call backs.

The clinic closes at 6pm Monday-Friday, 12 noon Saturday. Vets are on their way home at 5pm during the week and 12 sharp on Saturday.

Dogs and cats only. No afterhours or Sunday work is required.

Ideally you will bring enough experience to work independently and a desire to learn new skills.

We are skilled and equipped to handle most cases in-house. Whilst visiting specialists complement our very experienced team, you won’t get stuck referring everything interesting to an affiliated specialist hospital.

We like people who are interested in their own growth; and we are happy to facilitate your continued development. If you have a year or two of experience and really want to expand your medical and surgical skills this is the place for you.

We use RxWorks and have a dedicated surgery suite, radiography room, large treatment area and laboratory. We also have a dedicated euthanasia room, great puppy preschool space, a well-stocked (coffee machine and dishwasher included!) lunch room, and more. Have a look at our website:

https://www.localvet.com.au/Wollondilly/TakeAHospitalTour.aspx

Salary is negotiable based on ability and is expected to range from $80-$130K.

The ideal applicant will be experienced and fill a permanent, full-time position. However, hours are negotiable, part time work is available and new graduates are also encouraged to apply.

With a growing need for veterinary services in the area it’s time for more vets to join our team.

You are: A good communicator, looking forward to joining a happy team that enjoys coming to work.

We are: A fun team, with excellent clients, in lovely premises, and are an all-round great place to work!

For enquiries, feel free to text or phone Rhys Erskine on 0407 572 131 or email wollondillyvet@gmail.com.

GLOUCESTER, BARRINGTON COAST - MIXED PRACTICE - PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITYNew Graduates welcome

FULL OR PART TIME VETERINARIAN (MIXED & SA ONLY). PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Gloucester District Vets, a true mixed practice located on the foothills of the Barrington Tops, are on the lookout for another Veterinarian to add to our Team.

Gloucester is a beautiful little town located on the Mid North Coast, just inland from Newcastle. Located less than an hour from the stunning Barrington Coast and Newcastle, and less than 3hrs to Sydney, it’s a great location for those wanting to experience rural practice, yet still be within easy reach of the bigger cities.

The town is very sporty, with most of the nurses and vets filling their weeks with tennis, touch or netball. The Barrington Tops is a magnet for snow chasers, hikers, and trail bike riders, and with 3 mountain rivers converging in Gloucester, it’s also popular for fishing & kayaking.

Please click here to see photos! photos

Demographically, it’s a combination of young families, multi-generational farmers, hobby farms, and Sydney farmers. With lovely schools, and a supportive community, it’s a great place to settle and bring up a family.

We currently employ 5 Veterinarians, and are looking for another Vet . We offer a 4-day working week, with light OOH duties shared evenly amongst all the Vets. The clinic operates comfortable business hours (8:30-5pm Mon-Fri, and 8:30-12pm Saturday), and we do our very best to give our staff a working roster which allows for a balanced, enjoyable working life.

We have a supportive, friendly team that regularly socialise and enjoy sporting activities outside of work. We are very careful with who we employ, and are conscious of only adding team members that share the same supportive, kind, thoughtful attitudes which are evident in all of our staff members. We listen to our staff, and try to include every staff member in the decisions of the practice.

We are a true mixed practice, with a combination of companion animals, cattle work (beef > dairy), and equine. We also see quite a variety of small ruminants, and wildlife.

The practice has recently moved into a brand-new fully equipped, purpose built practice, including clinic vehicles, top of the range DR digital radiography and SA ultrasonography suite, brand new wireless BCF scanner, power float and equine dental kit, plumbed oxygen throughout, electric surgical suites with gas pendants, bull breeding kits, comprehensive blood suite, and so on. Clinic is effectively paperless and progressive, utilising Virtual recall, Vetcheck and interactive boards.

We strongly encourage CPD and special interests amongst our Staff, and in addition to the standard provision of a week of study leave with respective remuneration, we will often put staff through long term courses/memberships in their preferred fields. We see this as mutually beneficial to both the practice and the employee, and enjoy seeing the new skills implemented back into the clinic.

We are looking for either Full-time or Part-time Veterinarians, Experienced or New Graduates. Small animal only Vets will be considered. Ideally, we are looking for a Vet to start ASAP, but will consider later commencement dates.

All vets employed with the practice have access to a broad and varied work-load with access to both large animal work (if interested) and small animal work. Currently there is an opportunity for applicants wanting to further their cattle exposure.

Salary - Up to $120K pending experience. Partnership opportunities available. We will consider overseas applicants, and we are, of course, happy for any applicants to speak to staff to get an insight into work life.

Please send applications to Ashleigh Saville by email ash@districtvets.com.au or phone 02 6558 1504.

CENTRAL WEST - FORBES - MIXED PRACTICE - MIXED & SMALL ANIMAL VACANCIES New Graduates welcome

Are you looking for a change in scenery? Is city life getting too busy? Do you want to raise a family in a friendly, opportunity-filled country town environment? Come and explore the relaxed and welcoming town of Forbes, NSW on the Lachlan River!

About us:

Lachlan Valley Vets is a true mixed practice looking to expand our veterinary team and fill the position of one of our vets who is retiring gallantly after 25+ years of owning and practicing at the clinic. We are looking to fill two positions for a mixed practice clinician and a small animal clinician. If you want the country lifestyle coupled with small or mixed animal veterinary work, Lachlan Valley Vets is for you.

This is a new graduate friendly practice, and we pride ourselves on mentoring new grads properly. Work life balance is important to our team and mental health is a priority.

We will cater to any interest as this is a genuine mixed practice. Services offered include equine reproduction, cattle, sheep and goat herd health, plus international export of livestock from 5 different facilities, as well as a broad array of small animal medicine and surgical cases, including but not limited to reptiles, birds and native wildlife. We are also involved in community desexing programs with the RSPCA.

We are continually updating our facilities and are well equipped with digital radiology, in-house blood machines, large and small animal ultrasounds, Reproscan®, equine endoscope and an equine power float. There is the opportunity to work up difficult medical and surgical cases in-house however we can refer to specialty hospitals in Wagga Wagga, Canberra and Sydney.

We have a purpose-built branch clinic in Grenfell, NSW which is open Tuesday each week.

We have incredible support staff with a wide variety of experience and skills. Our nurses are well trained, supportive and are capable of working in teams and independently.

We are a locally owned family business, so if you are looking for support and encouragement from the ground level where you will be working side-by-side with the owners, this job is for you. Our team is like a family, with your work/life balance and mental health a high priority. If you have a family, we understand (and also survive) the chaos that goes along with parenting and are flexible with school pickups and sick children. We want to keep vets in the industry and that means a work/life balance that is flexible and supportive.

We have a coffee van that religiously pulls up at the clinic weekday mornings. Don’t worry if you don’t have a chance to get a caffeine hit before you come to work because it will be delivered with a smile! We also like to try and engage in a communal lunch on Thursdays with an order from the local bakery or pub. This gives us the chance for all staff to catch up, debrief and socialise.

Our team values good communication, often working up cases together. This is helped by our office being laid out so all vets can discuss cases, look at radiographs and easily converse with each other.

About the position:

4 day working week with a dedicated day off. For special occasions it can be arranged to occur on a Friday for a long weekend.
On call load is light and will be shared as 1 in 3 or 1 in 4.
Veterinary products are charged at cost price (plus GST) for your pets. We understand that your pets are part of the family so we look after them as well.

Salary above award wage
+ super
+ on call fee
+ after hours fees (50% of professional fees)
+ continuing education allowance
+ veterinary products for personal pets

Reviews will occur at 3, 6 and 12 months so you can tell us how we are going and provide us with feedback so we can help with any areas of improvement.

About you:

We love our job and while some days can be overwhelming, coming to work should be overall an enjoyable experience. We want our new team members to feel comfortable and fit in well with our clinic family. Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, reliable and friendly and happy to communicate.

We have two positions available at the moment. If you are happy to work with all species, that’s excellent, but we are also looking for a small animal vet so if you don’t like sheep, goats, cows and horses you can stay in the clinic with the smallies. If you don’t have confidence with livestock but would like to build up that confidence, this is the job for you.

About Forbes:

1.5 hours from Orange, 2.5 hours from Wagga Wagga, 3 hours from Canberra and 5 hours from Sydney. It is only a 30-minute drive to the local airport with flights to Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and large regional airports going twice daily.

We have a rich sports community with thoroughbred and standardbred racing, rugby union, rugby league, netball, cricket, touch, swimming, ranch sorting amongst countless others. We also have a 24-hour Anytime Fitness gym.

Forbes also boasts very picturesque and well-utilised walking/running paths around Lake Forbes. The Lake is lit by 2.7km of solar lights and is the ideal location to take a relaxing stroll or bike ride or an after work run to sweat it out.

About you:

We are looking for positive individuals who are capable of working efficiently and conscientiously within a team environment. Our team is very supportive and enjoy learning from each other. We generally work together to manage our cases as a veterinary team rather than 8 individuals working alone on individual cases. With a large practice, communication amongst team members and with clients is a must, we want "people-people" as we strive to excel in client interactions and client communication.

We have a tight family feel to our clinic and we want that to stay as we all love coming to work, our clients often comment about how much fun it always sounds like we are having. We firmly believe skills can be taught, but personality can't and we employ staff based on personalities and suitability to our workplace rather than on skills or marks, the successful applicants will immediately fit in and feel at home in our happy workplace.

Success in a small town requires people who want to be involved in the community; all the vets who love it here (and those that have stayed for good) are actively involved in either cricket, surf club, netball, soccer, rugby, mountain biking, surfing, etc, outside of work and that is what we are looking for in new staff

Our Practices are based in richly historic and economically active and developing areas within the Riverina. That includes the vibrant city of Wagga Wagga, the wine growing and citrus city of Griffith, Bradman’s birthplace – Cootamundra, the home of rural Aviation – Temora, the birthplace of the Australian Federation – Corowa, and the historic railway and rugby league of Junee. These are wonderfully unique places to live and work for those who want the best of both the country and the city, with a wide range of options for housing, schools, sports, activities and travel, and a low cost of living.

Our Motto

Our unique value proposition is “Compassionate, reassuring veterinary care – guaranteed”

Regional and Rural living means community. Our hospitals have an established, loyal client base that we’ve developed close professional relationships with. They have total trust in our professional opinions and have faith that we will deliver the best care possible for their pets - hence our slogan.

You will be entering an exceptional, trustworthy work team and a healthy, friendly work environment.

Your Role

Regional and Rural living means community. Our hospitals have an established, loyal client base that we’ve developed close professional relationships with. They have total trust in our professional opinions and have faith that we will deliver the best care possible for their pets, hence our slogan.

WARNERS BAY, LAKE MACQUARIE/NEWCASTLE - VETERINARY DIRECTOR

Veterinary Director
Warners Bay NSW

321 Hillsborough Rd, Warners Bay NSW 2282, Australia
Full-time

Company Description

Do you have a healthy addiction to caffeine, a quick wit, a love of group dress-ups, vet degree and have found yourself wandering aimlessly through your career without a stand-out team to lead?

If you’ve answered yes to any of the above, please keep reading!
If you’ve answered yes to ALL of the above, email emma.molakjoyce@gxltd.com.auimmediately! And welcome to the family!

Greencross Vets Warners Bay, is the perfect practice for a senior veterinarian with existing leadership experience and a great sense of humour, to join our team of positive and outgoing nurses, and passionate vet associates, to help us provide top-tier veterinary care to our long-standing clients of the Lake Macquarie and Newcastle region.

Set around the shore of Australia’s largest coastal saltwater lake, the sparkling Lake Macquarie, the town is a hub for water sports and outdoor activities, along with plenty of restaurants and cafes to keep you entertained in your down time – yes, we will ensure you get lots of time away from work so you can live your best life!

Please click here to see photos! photos

There is no on call or after hours with the support from our local emergency and referral hospital being just a 15 minute away. Our clinic boasts all the toys and gadgets you’ll need to offer the highest of standards in medicine and surgery, in a purpose-built facility with free and plentiful parking.

A little about your new team…

In a nutshell, your new crew are bubbly yet task focused, enjoy being challenged with a varied case load and supported in their pursuits of continued education, and are just a whole lot of fun!

Jess, your experienced Practice Manager, has passions in surgery and mentoring our fabulous nursing team. She is eagerly awaiting a co-captain to help her steer the ship.
(NB: water-based activities are optional but bad puns and ‘Dad jokes’ are compulsory!)

Anna is your talented fellow vet who has a special touch with our feathered friends. She’s always up for a new challenge and has great stories to tell during surgery.

Georgia is another talented vet who has recently joined our team. With a special interest in complex diabetes case management, she is a wonderful asset to our patients.

Nurse Allyce is our ‘always on the ball’ all-rounder and a social butterfly, and nurse Ryan brings the laughter as our animal attendant and jack of all trades. Allyce and Ryan are always ready to play with the patients and create such a positive vet visit for our furred friends.

Job Description

This opportunity is best suited to a veterinarian with at least 4 years post-graduation experience, who has demonstrated strong clinical leadership and proven management skills, a desire to nurture the development of junior vets and nurses if required, and is comfortable consulting, diagnosing and treating companion animals with autonomy.

Bonus points (and the first round of coffee on us) if you have good time management and you’re an approachable coach, or should we say ‘Captain’, whose natural style is to mentor in a collaborative manner.

Using evidence-based diagnoses, therapies and recommended courses of treatment, you are empowered to manage cases with the collaboration and mentoring both to and from your colleagues and on-hand advice from our Specialist network, as even the most senior of Vets can learn new tricks!

Leadership doesn’t have to be all consuming, so you’ll design your roster with Jess that offers a balance to your work and personal needs. No late nights or excessive weekends, just a 4 or 5 day week and the odd weekend rotation.

You’ll also have an experienced Area Manager, Regional Clinical Director and state General Manager to help cover the management, clinical standards and financial elements of your role. That’s the great part about your clinic being in the Greencross network - you’re not in this alone!
(And yes, these three are just as quirky as your clinic team… maybe even slightly more so).

Qualifications

While we are a super fun crew, our standards of care are no joke to us, so to be considered for this role you must hold a Veterinary degree from a university accredited by the Australasian Veterinary Boards’ Council (AVBC) and/or have completed NAVLE, AVE or alike examinations, and at all times be committed to delivering fear-free, compassionate and industry leading health care and advice to our patients and their loving families.

You made it to the end of the job ad - that in itself deserves a high five!

We don't want this be the last we see of you, so if you haven't already, APPLY NOW using this link or contact Emma Joyce Talent Aquisition Partner on 0406 847 986 or emma.molakjoyce@gxltd.com.au to chat further.

We’re looking forward to shouting you a coffee and spilling the beans on all things Greencross Warners Bay with you.
(See what we did there? ‘spilling the beans’… there’s plenty more where that came from)

We understand you may be a bit nervous starting out or getting back in the saddle and can help make your transition easier with 30-minute consults and a floating vet available to pick up any overflow and offer advice if you get caught up on something a bit more complicated.  If surgery isn’t your thing, not a problem, you can participate in as much or as little surgery as you like as our other vets love this stuff. Big dental procedures and extractions got you concerned? We can help here also. KINCUMBER, SOUTH EAST CENTRAL COAST - SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

Full Time or Part Time Veterinarian Wanted in November

Looking for a Sea-Change, or a Tree-Change? We have both!

Kincumber Veterinary Hospital is seeking a full time or part time veterinarian to start in November to join our friendly team of four vets and five nurses.

Comments from our recent locum: “It’s been a pleasure working with the team. They are lovely”

We are a small animal, family owned hospital on the beautiful Central Coast – close to everything and only an hour from Sydney. Kincumber is suburban, minutes from the beaches, close to Erina Fair shopping centre, but also near acreages and bush for a relaxed lifestyle.

We are a modern, busy little hospital, with a varied caseload and providing a good mixture of medicine and surgery with all the equipment needed to look after our furry patients. Our clients are lovely and generally happy for us to provide everything needed to look after their pets.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We use (and love) Ezyvet as our practice management software system, we have digital radiology, dental Xray, ultrasound, ECG, NIBP for all our anaesthetics, capnography, tonovet, IDEXX inhouse pathology, Imagyst AI – and more.
Our senior vets are always happy to lend advice, with one practice principal having his Memberships in Small Animal Medicine, and the other moonlighting for SASH in Emergency Medicine.

We are after an all-rounder vet keen to practice high standards, good communication skills, a happy persona, and a sound work ethic. Special interests are welcome. Continuing education is strongly encouraged. You wouldn’t need to do any public holiday work and no after hours – meaning you can have the well needed time off and good work/life balance. SASH Tuggerah is close by to refer the curly cases and for advanced imaging, oncology, physiotherapy and most importantly after hours care!

We make sure our staff get their lunch breaks, there’s a chocolate cookie jar that just seems to keep re-filling, and a coffee machine for much needed caffeine replacement…

Remuneration for the successful candidate is based on experience, but we pay well above the vet award. Staff are paid per hour, not on salary. We provide VIN membership and Vet Vault access to our vets, annual paid study leave and CE is encouraged.

To apply please email your CV to greg.kelman@kincumbervet.com.au

We would love to do the same for you – Or if you are a new grad, we want to give you the right environment to try everything so that you can find what you love.

So how can we do that for you?

Please click here to see photos! photos

This testimonial from one of our vets should convince you that this is the place for you!
I started as a new graduate in 2017 and am only leaving to try my hand overseas!  I was never pushed into doing anything I wasn't ready to do and could go at my own pace. The practice owner is super supportive and will still answer my calls even now to provide advice and assistance.
BTW it is an awesome team!!  All the nurses are very capable, and they make the job so easy so you can get on with being a vet.
The caseload is varied and interesting.  Because of the location, you get to “have a go”, rather than just referring everything …..so skills develop much quicker.
Orange is an amazing town.   There is always something happening!
(Dr Lauren Slater)

If you would like to talk to one of our previous or current vets, then please phone us on 02 63626991 and we can provide names and numbers.  If you would like to chat confidentially after hours, then phone Lisa on 0428658618 or send us an email to canobolasvets@hotmail.com  Alternatively, feel free to drop in for a coffee anytime and meet the team and check out the place.  Thanks.
