If you are a vet looking to live in an area that people travel the world to visit, then you are in the right place. We are not looking for a Rockstar, Superstar or any other star in the galaxy. We are just looking for someone who likes, “Getting it Done”, who can “Back themselves”, who “Get’s the Bread” and is “Barking Mad”.
Please click here to see photos!
We are New
We are currently under construction in Proserpine, so you’ll feel very fresh walking through the doors of this job with new, well everything. Our Bowen clinic is only 3 years old. So safe to say we like being new and we want our vet applicants to feel as though they are part of building our organization from the ground up. We are hoping the clinic will be full steam ahead in November.
We are exciting
We like to look at our industry in a different way and we encourage our staff members to bring us ideas to change it up. How do we create amazing patient care and at the same time give our staff great life balance and opportunities to grow within the organization. The opportunities in the vet industry are amazing and we are interested in building exciting ways to treat our patients, educate and train our staff and change the rural veterinary scene for the better.
We are different
Are you sick of writing consult notes? We have a solution for that.
Sick of working past clinic opening hours? We have a solution for that.
Sick of working all day only to then go on call? We are developing a solution for that.
Don’t like talking to clients about money? We have a solution for that.
We believe vets need to concentrate on vet things, diagnose, cut, prescribe, and when there is downtime develop systems to help improve patient care, team skills and ideas to help our clients understand the value of the service we are providing.
What you get
Support: To be honest we like to tailor make the support around the individual because no one really likes to be stood over and watched 24/7 or have zero support either. So having an open line of communication throughout your career at GWVS is important to us so we know when to step in or back off.
- High support staff to vet ratio
- Consult Nurses (rapport build clients, consult notes, estimate delivery, client updates)
- Large/Mobile nurse always on the road to support the vet

We also use our experienced staff to develop in-clinic workshops for our new graduates or just those who want to continue to learn.
Team:
We believe our team is “who we are”. Communication is vital, veterinary science is a tough gig, but we make the time to check in on each other frequently so that staff can air any wins or challenges in a private one on one setting. We strive to get our team together as much as possible whether that's dinner, Friday night footy invites and rodeos. Here at Greater Whitsunday Vet Services, we believe in celebrating our wins as a team whether it's a trainees first catheter placement or a new graduates first tooth removal the small wins eventually add up to the big win of happiness and achievement in your career.
Pay:
Our introductory level is 75000 and our Level 5 classification reaches 145,000 + bonuses, all pay rates are inclusive of super. Our formal letter of offer will generally involve a self-assessment for experienced vets who are over 12 months graduated. This allows us to set an offer based on your current skill set. If you are newly graduated, you will start on our introduction level with goals and pathways set to help you reach your career goals.
Our afterhours also comes with additional pay and on average adds an additional 12,000 to 15,000 per annum to your Salary above.
Expectations:
Here at Greater Whitsunday Vet Services, we like to set expectations, and we also encourage our staff to set their own. We believe this allows growth and helps staff and management align with common goals. Yes we do measure performance but from many different categories and this provides our staff with clear levels of achievement from surgery, diagnostics, equine health, consult process and culture alignment to name a few. But most of all we expect you to have a great attitude, be on time, have open communication and stick to the process.
We are a mixed practice veterinary organization so if you are a new graduate or an experienced vet looking for something a little New, a little exciting and a bit different in well an ordinary location. Then reach out using our contact information, we’d love to have the conversation.
