About the Role
As an emergency vet nurse, you will be involved in triage, hospital case management, surgery, critical nursing and critical case management. Experience exciting case diversity such as GDVs, impalements, hit by cars and in summer ticks, toads and snakes. Our nurses also have access to trained Mental Health First Aid Officers, our wellbeing hub and an Employee Assistance Program for support on a range of matters.

This full time position is based in a busy ophthalmology referral hospital (the only one in WA) in the Southern Suburbs consisting of 2 specialists, 2 residents, 1 registrar and 6 nurses. Our purpose-built hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and anaesthesia equipment. We believe in giving our nurses opportunities for growth and utilising them to their full potential.
The working hours will be 38 worked Monday- Friday between 7:30 – 6:30pm with an on-call roster of one weekend every 6 weeks. The on-call roster is for emergencies only as we are not open for routine appointments during the weekend, yay! There is more than meets the eye with this position, as it will cover a range of aspects of surgical nursing, anaesthesia, customer service, patient care, and of course, ophthalmology.
Eye-deally the right candidate will possess:
- Certificate IV in vet nursing or equivalent

Alice Vet Centre is a busy mixed animal practices based in the NT, currently staffed by a team of 7 vets, 7 nurses, 3 receptionists and two kennel hands. Key Responsibilities:
- Communicating with clients – including pre-dental information, admission notes, home care instructions, handouts, and follow-ups
- Monitoring and managing dental bookings in the schedule
- Assisting with general anaesthesia monitoring for dental procedures
- Supporting dental radiography
- Assisting with simple dental procedures such as dental scale and polish, and dental charting
- Promoting dental awareness among both clients and the team
- Conducting physical exams and confidently managing anaesthetic monitoring
- Providing exceptional patient care
Ideally, you’d be available for 3 to 4 shifts per week (8:00 am – 6:00 pm) focused on dentistry.

- In-patient and surgical patient examination.

- Collecting samples for pathology testing. We have a full suite of IDEXX in-house path analysers.
- Preparing for anaesthetics, placing IV catheters.
- Monitoring anaesthesia with the assistance of pulse oximetry, capnography, NIBP and ECG on all patients.
