PORT LINCOLN, EYRE PENINSULA - SMALL ANIMAL New Position
Join our team in the stunning coastal area at Port Lincoln, South Australia!
About us:
Lincoln Veterinary Centre in South Australia are currently seeking a Veterinarian who is highly motivated and looking for an exciting diverse clinical environment.
Why would you want to work in a busy city practice when you can work in a relaxed regional environment, where it only takes you five minutes to get to work?
Imagine working in a rural area where you don’t have to do any large animals and you can just focus on providing a high level of service to the local pets from a very well-equipped clinic.
The clinic is located in Ravendale House, a heritage listed building originally built to house Her Majesty Queen Victoria’s Colonial Officers. Externally the building is stunning and original, but inside there has been extensive renovations, including an extension, to accommodate a modern architecturally design vet clinic.
Within the practice there is a highly skilled and dedicated team passionate about educating our clients to ensure an exemplary standard of health and well- being for their pets.
The clinic has an interesting case load, and because we are a 7-hour drive to a referral practice many cases will stay in house.
To add interest and a service to the surrounding regional areas we conduct remote clinics, the furthest being 4 hours drive away.
The role:
What would you do if you knocked off work at 5.30pm? The options might include heading out for a fish or going for a walk in the National Park that is right at your doorstep. That’s right the clinic is open between civilised hours, 8am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 12pm on Saturday. Yes, we do provide an afterhours service, but with the right quota of vets that would be only one weekend in 4 or 5. As afterhours can be stressful on your own, we have a nurse also rostered on call, so you never have to worry about who is going to help. By the way, the after-hours compensation is among the most generous you'll find, which definitely helps make the extra hours more manageable.
As you may have guessed we are talking about a rural coastal area, that includes some of the best facilities around, one of which is an airport that is serviced by both Qantas and Rex.
We would love to help you develop your career while still having enough down time to enjoy what life has to offer.
What we can offer:
- A 38-hour Full Time Monday-Friday position, with minimal after-hours or weekend work.
- Access to one of the strongest networks of veterinary professionals
- Work with an established high performing team
- Sponsorship and a Visa for you and your dependents, if applicable.
- Relocation allowance, if applicable, generous CPD allowance and employee assistance program
- Ongoing training and support towards your professional development
What you can offer us:
- BVSc or equivalent, and registration to practice in South Australia
- Minimum of 3 years of employment experience as a Registered Vet
- A passion for surgery
- High standards of care with a proactive and accountable attitude
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated client relationship building skills
- A hard working and a hands-on approach to your work
- Effective time management and organisation skills
- Ability to oversee the caseload and work autonomously as well as in a team
Sounds great! How do I apply?
Whether you are an experienced vet, a recent graduate or somewhere in between, if you think you might be interested in breathing in some of the freshest air anywhere in the universe, drop us a line and let’s chat.

BERRI, RIVERLAND REGION - MIXED PRACTICE, MAINLY SMALL ANIMAL
A privately owned, well-established, 24-hour emergency, mixed practice hospital is seeking another Veterinarian to join their multi-vet team.
As we are an accredited hospital in a regional area, the practice boasts the latest and greatest diagnostic and monitoring equipment to support the varied caseload workups along with a dedicated customer care team and fully upskilled nursed and vet technicians.
The caseload is mainly small animals with some large animals and wildlife work. We do offer paid working trips to remote areas to further your large animal skills and provide more opportunities for large animal work. If you have a passion for surgery, you will be interested to know that routine, complex soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures are undertaken regularly, providing the opportunity to develop and hone your surgical skills. The practice owner is an experienced surgeon and enjoys mentoring and teaching. The practice also offers a full range of dental treatments and procedures.
The majority of vets who’ve started their careers at this practice are still working within the veterinary profession. This is a prime example that this is a great place to kickstart your career and find your passion within the industry!
The team aim to create a fun and friendly atmosphere with a collaborative environment and a focus on training and personal and professional development. This position provides a great opportunity for growth and development, with special interests and passions supported and encouraged.

A full-time role consists of a four-day week inclusive of early finishes and late starts before/after on call shifts. After-hours support is provided through senior vets, scheduled nurses, and Medechat, meaning vets are only called out for patients that need to be seen.
New graduates will not be required to do any after-hours work for the first three months. After three months, you will be included in the after-hours roster, with an experienced vet being available to assist you with after-hours cases.
The salary package for a new graduate includes a base salary of $80,000 + Superannuation, along with an additional $20,000 or more package for after-hours work, VSB registration, radiation license, AVA membership fees, up to two weeks study leave, four weeks annual leave, along with assistance with HECS fees on top. In addition to this, generous financial support will also be provided for continuing education. The practice will furthermore help with relocation and accommodation to help you settle into the area!
Experienced Veterinarians will be remunerated based on level of experience.
The region is a great place to live and is an easy 2.5-hour drive from Adelaide. Recreational activities in the area are many and varied, including sports, wineries, arts, water-skiing, camping, and generally enjoying the beautiful country environment.
Feedback from a 2019 graduate who is still currently employed:
I started working as a new graduate at the practice in early 2020, and COVID hit not long after. I was very well-supported. When I started after-hours and still now, there is always an experienced senior nurse with you and a vet available to call for backup or just over the phone for advice.
We do a fair amount of community work, so there are lots of opportunities to really develop your surgical skills and techniques. Still now, with anything you haven’t done before or would like some help with, you can schedule the practice owner or another senior vet to help.
Vets are regularly discussing cases and bouncing ideas off each other. If we ever get stuck on anything, we can also call the specialist/emergency centres, and they’re really good at giving advice. The practice owner is also very happy to pay for continuing education and conferences as well.
The practice owner also heads out to rural communities a couple of times a year where there are no vets and there are opportunities to go with them. Here, vets will provide consults and perform surgeries as needed, such as desexings, dentals, and lump removals. On their most recent trip, they also saw a few kangaroos and did some horse castrates and dentals.
There is lots to do in the area when you’re not working, especially if you like sport! Although not in a city, there are all the basic shops needed. They have various community days throughout the year, including dinghy races, fishing and fireworks.
The team are really, really, really supportive! If you need anything, you can just ask and they are more than willing to help out. The nurses and practice managers go above and beyond. They are very knowledgeable and absolutely amazing with new graduates. The nurses are quite hands-on; I honestly don’t think I would be able to do my job without them!

‘But where is the Eyre Peninsula?’ I hear you ask? It is a pretty special place, just have a look at this video: https://youtu.be/n5_ak_Zn9vs
There’s a million, squillion vet ads out there so WHY CHOOSE US??
We are a rural mixed practice vet clinic with an interesting and diverse case load. We see approximately 80% small animal, 10% equine and the rest sheep and cattle.

Our team is currently made up of 2 full-time vets and 3 part-time vets, with a new grad starting in March which will bring the total full-time vets to 3. All our full-time vets get a consistent weekly RDO.
Vaccination consults are 15 minutes and EVERYTHING ELSE is at least half an hour. Vaccines plus a specific concern? You’ll get half an hour – our nurses will always check on booking because no one likes the old ‘oh he’s been scratching a lot and can you also check his gunky eyes?’ in a 15 minute time slot!
Because we are rural, we get to see some pretty cool stuff, but for those extra tricky cases we have an awesome orthopaedic surgeon who visits once a month and is available to chat about a difficult case you may have.
Once we are back at full vet capacity, we would resume our regular fortnightly visits up the coast of the Eyre Peninsula to Elliston, Streaky Bay and Ceduna – providing a veterinary service to these more isolated areas. If this is something that interests you, you would be more than welcome to become involved in these trips.
Being a rural practice we feel it is important that our patients have access to veterinary care when they need it, not just when it’s convenient. That being said, we do offer an after hours service. Our after hours compensation is fair with the vet taking home 70% of the professional fees. With the existing vets, our on call roster would be 1 weekend in 4, and 1-2 nights a week.
Some other perks include pretty awesome staff discounts – cost price for everything!, VSBSA registration and EAP license reimbursed, and an annual CPD allowance of $2000. Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
WHAT DO WE WANT:
A vet! Ideally comfortable with mixed practice. Experience preferred. Full time or part time we don’t mind!
So if you think you could handle living in paradise and working with a great bunch of like-minded people in a job you love, don’t delay in dropping us a line. We’ll happily answer any questions you might have!
