YANCHEP, OUTER NORTH PERTH - SMALL ANIMAL WEEKEND VET New Position
Small Animal Weekend Vet
We are extending our opening hours in January 2025.
Yanchep Vet is located only 35 minutes North of Perth CBD. Our team consists of highly talented and enthusiastic nurses and vets. We provide a busy and challenging work environment.
As one of the fastest growing urban developments in Australia we have seen phenomenal growth in the pet owning population. Our nearest emergency centre is around 30 minutes away. We are planning on extending our hours to include Saturday and Sunday 9 am to 5 pm.
So we need you!
We need an experienced vet to work 9am-5pm Saturday and 9am-5pm Sundays. We will be operating as an emergency hospital during these times with no routine surgeries booked for these days. Our weekdays remain the same at this stage.
I am happy to have a vet regularly do one or both of these days. Remuneration will be very rewarding; this is an opportunity that may suit you if your preference is to have weekdays free.
Our hospital has all the tools and toys you need to do your job, and a few lovely extras. We have all the usual: Ultrasound, Digital x-rays, Dental x-rays, Dental suite, Anitek monitors, Darvall air warmers and Anaesthesia air warmers, Smartflow electronic white board, multiple IV pumps, Idexx lab in house, and a beautiful clean work environment. Our hospital is spacious and designed for you to be able to do your job in a really nice environment.
Please click here to see photos!
We do a lot of routine surgeries each day and we also have emergencies pretty much every day. Our case load is incredibly varied - we see snake bites, a lot of wildlife, and lots of routine things as well. Our vets have special interest in Dentistry and Surgery. We have visiting specialist surgeons for complex orthopaedic work as well as ophthalmology surgery.
As the only vet hospital in our area, we probably see more than our fair share of emergencies and trauma in our patients. This means that applicants who may have been bored by the day-to-day routine in many city practices will thrive working with our cases.
We currently use Ezyvet cloud-based software and outsource most of our reminders etc. This allows us to concentrate on our veterinary duties. If you feel you have the skills or can develop the skills to work in a fast paced and varied hospital, please send us your resume.
We would love to hear from you.
Please send a cover letter and resume to Dr Sam: manager@yanchepvet.com.au

Since starting here, my skillset has dramatically improved as we have a varied and exciting case load. As our closest referral hospital is over 5 hours away, we have the opportunity to do complex work ups and surgeries and advanced emergency medicine. There is a good mixture of large and small animal work, as we see goats, sheep, alpacas, horses, cows, pocket pets, dogs and cats. Being able to work in a rural setting has been rewarding and you do feel like a vital part of the community.
I have been challenged to improve as a vet, however, have always had support and someone to call, no matter the time or day. The team is young, fun and progressive. The nurses are supportive and have excellent skills to assist us vets. The management of the clinic is supportive and constantly finding ways to improve working conditions and equipment for our team. The salary is more than competitive, especially being a rural clinic. I would recommend this clinic as a great workplace for someone who is interested in working in a mixed rural setting with up to date protocols, salaries and equipment"

"The practice offers a great working environment. The employers are understanding and flexible and value work-life balance. The staff all get on really well and help each other when needed. We are encouraged to take our study leave each year. I have lived in the area for the past four years, and the location of the practice is great. It is very relaxed, and you can go to the beach often. I would recommend the practice to other vets."

MIXED ANIMAL VETERINARIAN – EXPERIENCED, RECENT AND NEW GRADUATE VETS ALL WELCOME!
Wheatbelt Vet Services are looking to employ two new vets to join our Family run practice.
Are you looking to escape the city life and relocate to either Jurien Bay or Wongan Hills?
We are seeking to fill two Veterinarian positions commencing early 2025. New graduates are strongly encouraged to apply. Wheatbelt Vet Services is a family run country Mixed-practice that now has 3 clinics in the Wheatbelt, with a total of 4 vets employed. We are 80% Small Animal, 20% Equine, Bovine & Ovine with the odd Wildlife case thrown in the mix. Jurien Bay has a country feel and a laidback attitude, right on the Turquoise Coast which has some of WA’s most beautiful beaches. All the staff at Wheatbelt Vet Services love living in Jurien Bay and because of that we make sure we enjoy a very healthy work life balance. Jurien Bay is a great town with all the facilities you need plus LOTS of activities – a range of sporting clubs, lots of places to eat and drink, hiking trails, islands with deserted beaches just a short boat ride away and many job opportunities if you’re bringing a partner along.
Wongan Hills is a vibrant town in the heart of the Wheatbelt. There is an amazing community with a strong farming focus, less than 3 hours from Perth. There are excellent sporting facilities and opportunities as well as hiking, camping and relaxing at the local pub to keep you busy. Wongan is a major hub for the Wheatbelt with a large shop, Hospital, high school and other medical facilities.
Our clients both in Jurien Bay and Wongan Hills are all amazing and appreciative to have quality Veterinary care in the country. Our focus is providing reasonably priced, compassionate and high standard veterinary care to our patients.
We are very flexible with any applicants who apply and can adjust the role to suit you – part time or full time, after hours or none – we will make it work for the right applicant. We are really looking for a Vet that enjoys working in a team and is personable – the rest of the skills needed can be taught over time. We feel that being a vet is the most amazing and rewarding job but we know that it definitely isn’t easy. Due to this we want to offer support and a healthy work environment to our staff, so they can continue to remain passionate about the veterinary industry and love coming to work each day.
Pay is above the award and based on experienced and pays are reviewed 6-12 monthly. Current Staff Testimonials:
I started working at Wheatbelt Vet Services Jurien Bay at the beginning of 2023. This was my first job as a new graduate and I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to my veterinary career. Jurien Bay is a small coastal town boasting beautiful beaches, an easy lifestyle and lovely, welcoming clients. The practice is 200km from Perth and services a large radius of surrounding towns, making for an interesting and diverse caseload. We see a wide range of species, from dogs and cats to sheep and cattle. The clinic is well equipped, allowing for a comprehensive workup in a rural setting.
Dr Hannah Morcombe is an experienced mixed-animal veterinarian and a fantastic mentor. She is always available to answer questions, assist on a case, and prioritises a healthy work-life balance. The team of nurses is skilled and efficient and we always have a good laugh together (and a daily snack platter and several cups of tea!).
The community really appreciates the work we do and the clinic is an integral service to the Wheatbelt towns. I have been incredibly well-supported here and gained invaluable skills working with Dr Morcombe. I couldn’t recommend this workplace enough, especially for a new graduate. I am sad to be leaving! - Dr Hannah Beadle Veterinarian at WVS Jurien Bay Clinic employed since 2023
Working at Wheatbelt Vet as a new graduate has been a fantastic start to my career as a vet. Dr Kirsten and her team have been supportive, caring and understanding of the new grad pressure and nerves. Over the first two years of my career I have been able to develop confidence in my decision making and build solid foundations for all general GP cases. The clinic is unique compared to others because being located in a small rural town means you get to know your clients (and their pets) well and are quickly welcomed as part of the community. The clinic operates over two locations, Wongan Hills & Dalwallinu, it is has been enjoyable to spend a couple days a week at each different location. There has also been opportunities to visit the beach and work over at the Jurien Bay clinic with Dr Kirsten’s daughter, Dr Hannah Morcombe, who is also a great mentor.
As a two vet clinic which operates over multiple locations, a level of sole charge is required. Whilst this can be nerve wracking to begin with, I believe it has challenged me and significantly improved my confidence & skills. Saying this, Dr Kirsten has been available on her phone 24/7 whenever I have needed her guidance or advice & has always kept my work-life balance in mind. Wheatbelt Vet is a small team and is like a small family, we have great Christmas parties & mid year catch ups, as well as coffee & chocolate each day! Wongan Hills is a sweet little town to live in and is an easy 2 hour drive back to Perth to visit on the weekends. I would recommend this clinic as a great place to work. - Dr Jonique Diamond Veterinarian WVS Wongan Hills Clinic employed since 2023
