We are looking for a confident veterinarian to join our small animal emergency clinic in Bangalow. You will see a diverse and interesting caseload, with access to ultrasound, endoscopy, ventilation, and a team of specialist veterinarians who are happy to mentor.
- Permanent Part-Time or Full-Time options available.
- Work a mix of evenings, overnights, and weekend day shifts.
- Salary based on experience: $124,000 - $149,500 per year (pro-rata) or $63.08 - $75.67 per hour.
- Some shifts are sole charge, but always with experienced nurses for support.
- No orthopaedic work required, and more complex cases can be referred to our Carrara emergency service.

The Emergency Vet Position:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and team-oriented Emergency Vet to join our 24hr Emergency team in Adelaide in full-time capacity, considering part-time for the right person. You will work in a multidisciplinary setting alongside colleagues in Surgery, Internal Medicine, Radiology, Dermatology and Neurology, while receiving direct support and in-house training from our Emergency and Critical Care Specialists Dr Nicole Kalnins and Dr Morgan Woodforde. There will be opportunities to collaborate with departments across the extensive network of SASH in NSW.
Emergency surgeries will be part of this role. However, our experienced surgeons are on call 24 hours a day to support you, so you will never be asked to cut something you are not comfortable with! Our surgeons will also provide you with support, supervision and additional training in key emergency surgical procedures while you settle into the team. As we offer 24-hour care, shifts rotate between days, overnights, and weekends. Public holidays and weekends are shared equally on a rotating basis. Work life balance is at the forefront of our rostering and our leaders look to make sure work-life balance is prioritised as much as possible.
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- A Veterinary Degree registrable in South Australia
- A minimum of 2 years, full-time experience as a Veterinarian
- The ability to multitask and handle a high volume of cases
- A commitment to providing the highest level of patient care
- Previous experience in Emergency is desirable but not essential!

About the role
Our emergency and critical care department enjoys a busy and varied load, encompassing a broad range of emergency and critical care cases. The ECC veterinarian has primary responsibility for the care and treatment of referred and primary accession cases arriving through the emergency department, as well as assisting with the care of hospitalised patients from our specialist departments. Management of cases often involves contributions from multiple specialist disciplines, providing an excellent opportunity for learning and case follow-up.
About you
- Two years experience working in emergency practice will be viewed favourably.
- Proficient in approaching emergency cases, performing emergency soft tissue surgery and emergency procedures. However, if you do not have all the skills required and are happy to learn, we will help you get there!
- A positive attitude, excellent communication skills, time management and the capability of working cohesively with your team in a fast-paced environment.

The 12-month postgraduate trainee program is a year‐long, advanced clinical training program in the School of Veterinary Medicine at Murdoch University in Western Australia.

The training program offers clinical experience in specific disciplines and an opportunity to gain formal scholarly training through concurrent enrolment in a graduate program. These positions would suit a recent graduate veterinarian interested in further university training and upskilling in areas that would be relevant to general practice, or a steppingstone to further clinical training such as a residency. Exceptional new graduates will be considered.
An annual stipend of $40k is offered with concurrent enrolment in the graduate program which results in award of a Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Clinical Studies after completion of 2 semesters. Course fees are paid by the School. Applicants must be able to start the program in early to mid-July for Semester 2, 2025 enrolment.

The three-year, full-time residency programs allow a successful candidate to target credential requirements for speciality certification. We are seeking to make a single appointment at either Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care (Education-Focused), with the primary focus to provide Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care Service (ECC) at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney. The successful candidate will work closely with the Hospital ECC team to continue to raise the profile of the ECC to clients and referring veterinarians. You will play an integral part in the oversight of the ECC unit services while delivering a high level of clinical support. You will have an active teaching role of final year DVM veterinary students in liaison with the Heads of Specialist Services and Primary Care.
An academic background is not essential for this role – candidates with strong clinical experience will be considered.
A Lecturer is expected to engage in teaching and research independently or part of a team and support the DVM program predominantly through clinical supervision of placements and clinical service. A lecturer would have advanced training in a specific discipline (eg membership or similar).
The base salary for a Lecturer (Level B) is between $122,830 p.a. - $145,858 p.a + 17% superannuation (a total package of between $143k - $170k p.a)
A Senior Lecturer is expected to make significant contributions to teaching and learning within the DVM program, primarily within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital for final year students with involvement in didactic settings for earlier years. A Senior Lecturer is also expected to provide leadership as registered Specialist and have a demonstrated research track record.
The salary for a Senior Lecturer (Level C) is between $150,461 p.a. - $173,492 p.a. (inclusive of a generous loading for a registered specialist) + 17% superannuation (a total package of between $202k - $233k p.a. for a registered specialist).
An Associate Professor is expected to be an academic leader as a clinical specialist with a demonstrated research track record and recognition at a national/ internation level for teaching, research and clinical service.
The salary for an Associate Professor (Level D) is between $181,166 p.a. - $199, 585 p.a. (inclusive of a generous loading for a registered specialist) + 17% superannuation + (a total package of between $243k - $268k p.a. for a registered specialist).
The academic environment is different to commercial specialty practice with the academic mission of teaching and research being central to operations. You are not focused on caseload benchmarks of revenue targets but rather making a difference, leaving a legacy on the profession and undertaking research that changes the lives of animals.

Our services cover General Practice as well as after-hours Emergency and Hospital Care. While we are looking for a full time team member, we’d consider part time for the right person. As we offer 24 hour care, shifts rotate between evenings, overnights and weekend days. We’re currently hiring Emergency Veterinarians (part time and full time) in Albany.
As an Emergency Veterinarian, you’ll handle a diverse caseload, providing urgent care to emergency patients and managing specialist in patients with support from our collaborative team.
Position Responsibilities/Tasks
Your focus will be on providing first-line services including, but not limited to:
- Urgent medical, surgical, and critical care services, including resuscitation, stabilisation, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and referral as necessary.
- Assessing the urgency and severity of presenting problems through history taking, examination, and investigation.
- Recommending and, where appropriate, undertaking treatment options under a treatment plan and performing interventions and procedures, including prescribing, surgery, and client education.
- Referring cases to ARC specialists for diagnostic, therapeutic, and support services as required.
- Performing surgical procedures (specialists are on call for more complex procedures, and surgical mentorship opportunities are also available for less experienced veterinarians)
- Preparing accurate and detailed notes, clinical summaries, and client communications, including liaising with referring vet clinics.
- Invoicing for services rendered.

Our Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) department is excited to offer the opportunity of a full-time ECC Consultant to join our purpose-built hospital.
The Hospital
North Shore Veterinary Specialist Centre is one of multiple hospitals in the VetPartners group that has multiple hospitals and clinics throughout Australia. As such there is high out of hours caseload which feeds the ECC referral team. The referral hospital is multidisciplinary with referral services in surgery and internal medicine.
Our services include:
- Anaesthesia
- Diagnostic imaging service
- Growing oncology service
- Ophthalmological, dentistry and exotics referral services on-site
- Purpose built MRI facility
- Interns, a medicine resident and specialty nurses to support the services.
- Pet Ambulance Service
The team here are a fantastic group of people – with many celebrating work anniversaries this year of over ten years and multiple vets coming back after specialist training or staying on after training here. As a busy referral hospital, you would have access to the expected tools – dedicated ICU, multiple mechanical ventilators (for tick time here!), ultrasound, CT, MRI (as of Feb 2022), TEG, interventional radiology and a blood bank. On-site there is the VetPartners Training Centre for use and we have a good network with the local practices.
About you
The successful applicant would ideally be ACVECC or ECVECC board-certified. However, candidates eligible to sit the qualifying examinations for these colleges will also be considered as would fellows of the ANZCVS.
The role
The ECC department in this hospital is growing significantly and you would join a team currently consisting of one other board-certified Criticalist, 1-3 ECC interns, rotating interns and multiple ECC-specific nurses.
You would be involved in:
- Training and supervising interns with the support of an administrative manager
- Advising the out of hours and general practice team
- Consulting on critical cases feeding from the entire hospital and our network

Your Role Is?
As an Emergency and Critical Care Vet at SEV, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality care in a dynamic and supportive environment. Your responsibilities will include:
- Emergency Response: Responding promptly to emergency cases that come in during the night/after-hours which will include the spectrum of emergency cases from snakebites, tick and other toxicity’s, trauma/fractures/stitch-ups, emergency laparotomy’s, GIT and repro emergencies, and other medical emergencies. It will also include providing overnight care to existing medical and surgical patients from surrounding general practitioners that need supervision overnight and will be returned the following morning.
- Critical Care: Providing intensive monitoring and treatment to critically ill patients, including those recovering from surgery or suffering from severe medical conditions.
- Diagnostic Expertise: Triaging and applying through examinations and appropriate diagnostics for critical care treatment of each patient within our care.
- Surgical Interventions: Performing emergency surgeries when necessary, such as wound repair, laparotomy’s, C Sections etc.
- Client Communication: Effectively and respectfully communicating with pet owners regarding their pet's condition, treatment options, prognosis, and any concerns they may have.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate medical records and documenting all treatments, observations, and communications relating to patient care.
- Continuous Learning: Candidates are expected to be up to date with their continuing Veterinary education.
- Team Support: Vets are expected to provide mentorship and guidance to all support staff working overnight shifts, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment. Encouraging a happy and healthy working environment.
- Sanitation and Organisation: Ensuring the cleanliness and tidiness of work areas, including examination rooms, surgical suites, and treatment areas, to prevent the spread of infections, promote a safe environment for both patients and staff, and support efficient workflow during emergency situations.

EVH is seeking full time, or part time experienced veterinarian both in Australia and internationally to add to our Senior Vet Team. When you come on-board, we provide on-the-job and external training to help you deliver excellent emergency and critical care to your patients. Supported by a team of vets on duty, Vet Duty Manager, Nurse Duty Manager and vet nurses we assist you to achieve the most out of your work day and longer-term career goals.
Perfect for experienced vets wanting to stretch into a manager role, there is still plenty of room to practice exciting emergency medicine, but with the added challenge of working with our management team making decisions and supporting and mentoring younger vets

About the Role
Emergency Veterinarian to work across a rotating roster of nights and weekends and some Public Holidays on a shared basis – no vaccinations or dentals in sight!
- Part-time hours, 20-36 per week – shifts vary between 3-12 hours in length.
- Some sole charge will be required.
- Remuneration is expected to be between $140000 and $180000 plus Super plus C.E. for a Full-time position, depending on experience (Pro rata for PT roles)

An exciting opportunity has opened for an Urgent Care+ Vet (full-time permanent) to join our Urgent Care team. This role comes with unique benefits (hence the +).
The role:
This new full-time role combines elements of internship, independent Vet and Urgent Care Vet. You will be doing:
- Urgent Care consults and case management Mon-Fri with support/guidance of our specialist departments (e.g. neurological exam by surgery, ultrasound/CT by imaging, treatment advice from Internal Medicine)
- Rotations through the specialist departments (e.g. learn to ultrasound, learn surgical skills and workup, learn medicine case management) 4-12 weeks per annum
- Urgent Care on weekends and nights with on call and/or in person support
You will rotate through Urgent Care (available 24/7) as well as the various specialist departments, providing the best possible care for patients, learning best practice/specialist knowledge, and using all the equipment. On a daily basis, you will interact and learn from a supportive specialist team (Internal Medicine, Surgery, Imaging, Ophthalmology). These are also available 24/7 either in person or on call.

What is unique?
You will spend up to 12 weeks per annum rotating through the specialist departments to learn and immerse yourself in specialty departments (although more weeks can be discussed), with the remainder of the time participating in the Urgent Care department (weekdays, nights and weekends).
You will have more autonomy and responsibility than an internship, and be provided with more specialist rotations than our part-time Urgent Care Vet positions. As a result, remuneration lies between these two positions. As a result, remuneration lies between these two positions ($95,000 - $180,000) based on prior experience and industry acumen. We are open to negotiating this to align with qualifications, experience, and the rotated number of weeks.
This is a full-time position (three positions available) and the roster will rotate Mon-Sun between various shifts, including nights and weekends. The position is permanent, or until you decide you’ve learned enough (is there every such a thing?!) or want to move to a full-time Urgent Care role.

Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Specialist
We’re looking for a Specialist in Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care to join our passionate, motivated and highly skilled team. If you’re driven by saving lives, love the challenge of critical care and thrive in a dynamic, supportive workplace, we’d love to hear from you.
At VSOS you’ll be joining a team of like-minded professionals who are passionate about learning, inter-specialty collaboration and pushing the boundaries of veterinary care. As a criticalist, aside from typical medical and surgical cases, you would be heavily involved in the peri-procedural management of advanced treatments such as:
- Trans-arterial embolisation/chemoembolization of inoperable neoplasia.
- Vascular stenting.
- Percutaneous Transvenous Coil Embolisation (PTCE) for intrahepatic shunts (IHPSS).
- Cardiopulmonary bypass and open-heart mitral valve repair in dogs.
The Team
While we are still growing, currently our large team is comprised of:
- Internal Medicine: 3 specialists, 2 registrars, 2 residents and an intern
- Surgery: 4 specialists, 1 registrar, 2 residents and 1 intern
- Anaesthesia: 2 specialists, and a team of non-specialist anaesthesia veterinarians and nurses.
- Cardiology: 1 specialist
- Neurology: 1 specialist (joining in March 2025)
- ECC: 1 specialist and large team of non-specialist emergency veterinarian
As well as independent specialist dermatology and ophthalmology services that operate out of VSOS and in collaboration with our other departments.
VSOS also boasts a large, passionate team of nurses, animal attendants and administrative support staff to support you in your role as a clinician.
The Hospital
VSOS is a modern, spacious, purpose-built hospital spread over two levels.
We have four sterile surgical theatres and two sterile theatres for medical and fluoroscopic interventional radiology procedures.

o multiple mobile ultrasound machines,
o bedside mobile radiography (Siemens MOBILETT Elara Max)
o Siemens 64-slice SOMATOM go.Up® CT
o Siemens 1.5T MAGNETOM Sempra MRI (managed by human radiographers who are on-call and available after-hours for emergency imaging).

- Emergency & Critical Care
- The Emergency Room is on the lower level and is separate to our upstairs Emergency hospital ward where patients are transferred after initial stabilisation and workup.
- We have a separate and closed ICU for the more complex, critical cases.
- Equipment in the ICU includes:
- 3 Menios temperature and humidity-controlled oxygen cages,
- 2 Puritan-Bennet 980 series ventilators,
- multiple direct oxygen outlets
- 2 anaesthetic machines
- mobile ultrasound and x-rays units for bedside diagnostic imaging.
- The ICU is also always staffed with at least one dedicated nurse depending on case load.
What You’ll Be Doing
Clinical roles:
- Independently manage cases in the ICU.
- Oversee and support emergency veterinarians (particularly the more junior vets) in both the Emergency Room and Hospital Ward.
- Collaborate and support other specialties in pre procedural planning and post-procedural care.
- Coordinate case movement throughout hospital between departments.
- Support the blood bank manager by providing advice, oversight, education, review of protocols and assisting in blood donations and transfusions when required.
- Provide over the phone support to referring veterinarians on emergency and critical care cases.
Non-clinical roles:
- Occasionally provide training such as lectures, wet labs and practical sessions on Emergency and Critical Care topics to Emergency veterinarians, allied specialty interns and residents and nurses.
- Assist the inventory team in S8 drug management within the Cubex system including but not limited to restocking, unstocking, stock transfer and discrepancy resolution.
- Assist the ER manager(s) and hospital directors with the review of cases to:
- help resolve clinical incidents and/or client complaints.
- respond to clinical incident reporting,
- develop training, hospital protocols, policies and procedures.
- Assist in the research of equipment and medications relevant to ECC.
- Lead by example and advocate for best practice in all aspects of emergency and critical care.
