Companion Vet Care, North Lakes (posted 19th November)
Experienced Vet Nurse Wanted
Full time or Part time
Small Animal Only
North Lakes, QLD
Companion Vet Care is a privately owned Small Animal practice with a great reputation located in North Lakes. We have a tight knit experienced group of staff who adhere to excellent standards of practice. We have a steady general practice caseload but also see visiting specialists at the practice and have an emergency and specialist center almost in walking distance. The facilities are less than 1 year old with most equipment bought within the last few years.
What is important to us?
3 things are important to us:
The pets – this is why we turn up every day. As a team we are fundamentally animal lovers and want to improve the lives of the pets that live in the community around us.
Our team – a good team of likeminded people who work well together is very important to us. In a vet clinic some days are hard and its important that the team can pull together and support each other. Other days are fun, and we want to be able to have a laugh together.
Our people – out clients, these are our ‘other people’. Some are wonderful, some are a challenge, but most have the best interest of their pets at heart. Forming lasting relationships that support our part in maintaining the animal human bond is essential to the success of the practice.
Who are we looking for?
The role is 3-4 days a week with 1 in every 4 Saturday morning shifts. The candidate will need to have experience and skill with anaesthesia and patient restraint. Ideally an individual with strong interest, further training or decent experience in this area. We have some younger nurses that have great potential but need a decent mentor, so a likable person who is easy to communicate with and willing to share knowledge is also important.
There will be occasional cover on reception but not often outside of the Saturday morning shifts so being able to communicate efficiently and effectively with the public is also required.
If you are interested please send your CV and cover letter to Warren Doidge at: admin@companionvetcare.com.au

What we require
An experienced Veterinary Nurse Certificate 4 level with a minimum of 2-3yrs experience in general practice. A nurse who is keen to offer the best standards of care for all our patients and clients. A keen interest in Puppy Pre-school is also advantageous.
VetLove Jimboomba & VetLove Flagstone are both purpose-built Veterinary Hospitals in a growth corridor of South Brisbane, just a few kms from each other, these clinics are continually growing so we would love someone who isn’t scared to implement new services/ideas. We currently have a puppy school trainer but another nurse to assist with an interest in this would be awesome. Being in such a new area we see a lot of puppies and kittens, as well as the general Vet work.
We have three incredible veterinarians.
Work life balance is important for us, especially in this industry where we must look after each other’s mental health too. A fair and balanced roster is always the goal.
You only want to be in a clinic with great values and ethics with the patient’s best interest at heart; the good old saying “treat every pet as if they were your own” is true within VetLove.
Days are never boring! Practical jokes, coffee, chocolate, and great team environment makes every day a pleasure, sure we get stressed and have our off days (who doesn’t) but as a rule we club together and smash the day out as a team.
Support, collaboration, and team spirit is not only with the individual clinic but across the VetLove team. Known for our culture, the VetLove team are a great group to be around. The two clinics work closely together so the role does include shifts at both clinics.
What’s next?

Mermaid Waters Veterinary Surgery, Gold Coast (posted 4th November)
Full Time or Part Time Veterinary Nurse Position
We are an eight veterinarian/eight veterinary nurse small animal only veterinary clinic with a fantastic work environment and great clientele. We are looking for a veterinary nurse with an easy going nature who can fit in with our ethos: that the most important element of a veterinary practice is a healthy and happy workplace. We strive to provide a working environment with bottom up management, strong team support and autonomy.
Our Mermaid Vet clinic, centrally located on the Gold Coast, is just a few minutes from the white sands of Mermaid Beach. A veterinary surgery has been established on this site for over forty years. Since purchasing the clinic seventeen years ago, the owners have been successful in growing the practice into one of the most highly respected clinics on the Gold Coast. The clinic is family owned and operated with a belief in placing the patient first by providing the best veterinary care, without the need for 'over servicing' or performance reviews. We work hard to provide an environment in which veterinary nurses can enjoy their work every day.
Having the highest quality veterinary equipment means that diagnostic procedures can be efficient and more enjoyable in the day-to-day routine. Our clinic has a dedicated imaging room with DR x-ray and ultrasound. Our DR x-ray machine produces high resolution images in a matter of seconds and is often used in combination with our new ultrasound sound machine. Our pathology suite is complete with an Idexx Catalyst biochemistry and Procyte haematology machines – delivering blood tests in approximately 15 minutes. Our dental suite consists of two IM3 dental machines with subgingival scalers and is complemented by a wall mounted DR dental x-ray. Six consultation rooms, a dedicated imaging room, dental room and surgery complemented by multiple prep areas also make for hassle free procedures. We also believe that veterinary nurses should never stop learning. We support ongoing education, career advancement and encourage the development of personal interests within the veterinary field.
We have an outstanding group of nurses with decades of experience between them. They are highly supportive of our staff and take pride in our clinic. Our nurses all excel in various fields that support primary veterinary care including nutrition and behavioural training.
As the practice continues to grow, we have the opportunity to offer a position for an experienced veterinary nurse. We are looking for an applicant with experience, preferably with at least two years of paid employment and sound knowledge of the veterinary industry. The successful applicant will need to have a friendly and cooperative nature, the ability to work in a fast paced clinic and possess a willingness to learn and apply best practice veterinary care. The applicant should have the ability to work autonomously as well as in a team. This is an opportunity to advance your knowledge and career in a busy small animal clinic in the company of highly skilled veterinary nurses. No after-hours or on-call work is required. All after hours cases are referred to a close by after hours clinic.
We offer a steady and manageable daily work load with 30 minutes allocated for lunch every day. Shifts are structured with 5 veterinary nurses working at any one time on weekdays and 4 veterinary nurses on Saturday mornings. This provides excellent peer support for veterinary nurses and enough time to manage the day to day running of the clinic. Pay rate will be above award and is based on level of experience and suitability to the practice. We are offering a superior pay package, discounted procedures and products and most importantly, a position where you can devote your time and efforts to the best care and outcomes for companion animals.
Have a look on our website to see who we are and what we are all about.
