KENMORE/SUNNYBANK, BRISBANE WEST & SOUTH - SMALL ANIMAL
Veterinarian required
Full time Small Animal
Brisbane QLD (Kenmore, Sunnybank)
We’re looking for an enthusiastic full-time veterinarian to join our growing team.
About us:
We’re a busy and innovative small animal practice based in Brisbane QLD. We’ve integrated a large house call service with well-equipped clinics to create a referral style environment in a general practice setting. Our house call teams ‘refer’ patients from across Brisbane into our clinics each day, providing us with an interesting caseload of surgical and medical cases. This higher caseload of unwell pets allows us to make better use of our clinic equipment with ultrasounds, x-rays, bloods and surgeries a daily part of our practice. We have a strong focus on challenging ourselves to work up cases to a referral practice standard and continuing to develop our clinical skills. As we grow, we envisage our vets being able to work exclusively within a specific chosen field (if they wish), such as internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, dentistry or diagnostic imaging. We also have opportunities for vets looking for a consulting only role.
Our clinics are currently based in Kenmore and Sunnybank, with a northside clinic opening in the near future.
Please click here to see photos!
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for vets keen to challenge themselves clinically and practice referral level patient care. Experience level is not a sticking point for us – we’re confident that we can help you grow clinically. It’s more important to us to find someone personable and fun who’s going to fit into our team. With a new graduate already currently being mentored, ideally our new team member would have at least 1 year of experience in practice (general practice, internship, emergency).
Excellent communication skills with both clients and colleagues are naturally important to us. A commitment to continuing professional development and education is also essential.
About the role:
This position is a full time role (4 days per week) with our day service (no after hours). We encourage our vets to work a mixture of house call and clinic shifts as this provides a good balance between consulting and procedural work. However, we also believe in playing to each person’s strengths so are happy for the role to be exclusively in one department if needed.
You will be well supported with continuing education – we encourage all staff to participate in conferences/courses each year, host monthly vet rounds, and have practice memberships to Vet Education and VIN. Generous CPD allowance and leave are provided.
Remuneration will be dependent on the applicants experience level and qualifications. We are always very open to negotiation of remuneration packages, including salary, leave allowances and superannuation.
Please submit applications via email to ben@thcv.com.au or call 0438 786 205 for a confidential discussion.

BROADBEACH, GOLD COAST - SMALL ANIMAL
Permanent Full Time Vet Position
ASAV Hospital of Excellence with family friendly hours.
Join us at Gold Coast Vet Surgery, where compassion meets clinical excellence.
We are sadly losing a much loved and integral member of our family. After being with us for nearly 10 years this dedicated vet is reluctantly leaving due to family commitments, so whilst we’re thrilled for her, our team are hurting. Can you help us to fill their shoes?
We’re looking for a kind and compassionate vet who listens to the clients needs and tailors their treatment to the individual patient and not corporate demands.
Vets who work with us repeatedly comment how different and wonderful our clients are. We believe that working with caring and dedicated clients who are willing to do the necessary diagnostics and the best possible treatments is key to both successful clinical outcomes and job satisfaction for us as vets. We are truly blessed with fantastic clients who seek us out for our reputation of caring and compassionate vet care that leads to peace of mind for them, and the best possible care for their pets. Over the 17 years that we have owned the practice we have worked hard on attracting and retaining these types of clients and we have also had a strong focus on encouraging pet insurance.
As the Gold Coast’s only ASAV Accredited Hospital of Excellence you can rest assured that we are well equipped with the necessary equipment to do our job well. We strive to provide a supportive environment with other like minded vets, a team of great nurses and a dedicated Customer Care team on Reception.
Please click here to see photos!
But to join our team you don’t have to be a “superstar vet” - none of us are perfect, so please don’t expect that of us! We are looking for a vet who strives to do their best, who believes that compassion and client communication are key to successful outcomes, and someone who wants the support to keep on improving. At Gold Coast Vet Surgery, not only is CPD encouraged and funded, but our package also includes membership of Lincoln Institute’s “Leading Edge” program and VIN. The clinic owners believe in mentorship and support to the whole team and we are ready to assist with those curly cases or snarly clients, leaving you to be the best vet that you can be and practice vet science the way it’s meant to be. We run the clinic collaboratively and your opinion will be considered and your contributions truly appreciated. As a compassionate, family orientated business you will work alongside the owners who understand your workload and challenges and there is no corporate head office to deal with.
We value a healthy lifestyle and encourage a good work-life balance. Our vets work a four day week with no after hours or Sunday work and family friendly business hours (8am – 5:30pm Mon to Fri and 8:30am – 12pm on Saturdays). Saturday mornings are on a one in four rotation, with a half day off the following Friday afternoon. We have an excellent local referral hospital (VSS) and two after hours emergency centres on our doorstep (AES & AEC) which means that you’ll still have the peace of mind that your patients will be very well cared for after hours.
If you enjoy making a difference in people’s experience at the vet, and are proud to provide exceptional customer service as part of a fun team, then this is the position for you. Our practice attracts clients who expect and appreciate a caring, thorough and yet practical approach. If you are looking for job satisfaction, like to work up cases and like to develop a personal relationship and rapport with your clients, then you will flourish in our “family”.
To apply, please email Dr Kevin Cruickshank at: vet@goldcoastvet.com.au with your resume and a covering letter outlining why this is the position for you.
Absolute confidentiality is assured.

VARSITY LAKES, GOLD COAST - SMALL ANIMAL New Position
VETERINARIAN / VETERINARY DIRECTOR
Full time or Part time
8 Vet Small Animal Hospital
Gold Coast, Queensland
An exciting opportunity has become available at Reedy Creek Veterinary Surgery for a motivated veterinarian to take their career to the next level and potentially progress into a veterinary leadership role.
Reedy Creek Veterinary Surgery is an independent, family owned and operated, small animal veterinary hospital on the sunny Gold Coast. We are big enough to be the best (with the largest independent first opinion veterinary team on the Gold Coast) but small enough to care the most (with a strong and thriving culture based around high quality patient and customer care).
As one of our team sadly moves on to new horizons, we are looking to fill their place and at the same time expand our team to allow more flexible working conditions for all. This may mean employment of more than one vet.
Our goal is to find a vet who shares the same values and passion about the profession as we do, wants to practice great quality medicine and surgery, and actively contribute to our team culture. We can be flexible with the exact role, as we’re more focused on finding the right individual. As such, this role could be anywhere from part time to full time, consulting only or both consulting and surgery, and specifically there is scope for the right individual to step into a leadership role as a veterinary team leader. This leadership role would provide a certain amount of “off the roster” time to allow support of the veterinary team, management of emergencies and hospital cases, contribution towards hospital protocols and efficiencies, and involvement in achieving clinical standards and targets.
Remuneration would really depend on the specific role and applicant; however the starting range for these positions would be $100 000 - $130 000, with a leadership role likely to have performance based bonuses on top of any base salary.
Our hospital is equipped with everything you would expect from a gold standard practice, and we have excellent imaging and surgical capabilities including surgical memberships amongst our team.
Please click here to see photos!
Our clients are generally fantastic, and we have high pet insurance rates, meaning we can work most cases up thoroughly. Being a very busy hospital we have a steady and varied case load across all disciplines which makes each day interesting and rewarding.
We are open to the public 7:20am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 2:00pm on Saturdays. Our full-time vets generally work a 3.5 to 4 day week, with one in three Saturdays, equating to an average 38hr week.
After hours are covered by two local emergency hospitals, one of which is literally next door, meaning we do not do any afterhours or overnight work.
We are immensely proud of the reputation we have built both within the community and the veterinary profession. Our culture makes working here an enjoyable and rewarding experience with a strong, supportive team behind you every step of the way. We are looking for a veterinarian who is passionate about the profession and wants to be the best vet they can in a progressive, positive environment. If this sounds like you, please get in touch with our practice manager, Janine, for more information or to set up a confidential meeting.

CAPALABA, CITY OF REDLAND - SMALL ANIMAL
Opportunity: Full Time Associate Vet Role
Location: Capalaba, QLD
Start date: July 2024
Okay, so you’ve done some hard yards to get to where you are. You’ve slogged through Uni, you graduated, you partied, you entered the industry, and found your feet. With this stressful transition and few years of clinical work behind you, you’re ready to realise the return on your investment in yourself and your career. It’s time to find a workplace that truly understands your aspirations and delivers on its promises!
Please click here to see photos!
This is a simple equation: You tell us your needs and we tell you ours. If we can give each other what we need, then we’re on.
Here’s what we THINK you need:
- Fair remuneration – this just requires an open conversation. It’s not scary. You tell us what you think is fair and reasonable and we figure out if its affordable. Starting salary $100K.
- Balanced lifestyle – no staying back unpaid because this is your “life vocation”, no after hours unless you want to do it, no double booking or “squeezing” appointments in, no 15 minute primary consults – they’re ALL 30 minutes so you have time to do a proper job = job satisfaction.
- Support – a vet team who ask each other for advice, who love collaborating on cases and sharing knowledge, who recognise that in doing so they develop their knowledge in ways that reading can’t. Reliable and effective nurses who know their job and leap to help you. Many locum vets have commented that our nursing team is the best they’ve ever worked with.
- Excellent equipment – IDEXX Procyte and Catalyst machines, UA Analyser, iM3 dental equipment, digital dental radiology, TonoVet tonometer, ultrasound machine, diathermy, heated anaesthetic tubing, NIBP, ECG, ETCo2 monitoring equipment etc.
- Wonderful culture – no politics, no drama. We have fun together, we have open and honest conversations, we share a common vision to do a great job. We do fun activities together four times a year. Last year it included sailing on Moreton Bay for 3 days, and this year it’s shark diving at Julian Rocks in NSW. These adventures are all expenses paid. Why? Because that’s how you build a great team of people who know and trust each other.
- Inclusive management – My name’s Sam. I own My Local Vet. Can I manage it on my own? Of course not. I rely on YOU, the team, to run the show. The team quite literally make all the decisions. I just bring the questions – should we do this, or that?
- Responsive management – My aspiration always has been to cultivate and amazing workplace. I can’t do that without your feedback. Something you don’t like? We have a conversation and find a solution. It’s that simple. No escalating the issue to your supervisor and then the manager only to find she’s currently on annual leave so you’ll have to wait until she’s back. Just talk to ME. I’m a one stop shop.

ORMEAU, NORTHERN GOLD COAST - SMALL ANIMAL
You’ve probably read all the ads out there and they all look the same, they all offer an amazing workplace, a great team, a good salary package, flexibility etc. How do you choose or believe what everyone says? We all say the same thing, employers will always try to convince you and the wording is very vague, right?
What is the real meaning of good, great, flexible? That’s very subjective and the scientist in us wants numbers, facts, evidence-based arguments!!
My Kind of Vet, situated in Ormeau is seeking a skilled and compassionate full time vet to join its Award Winning team on the beautiful Northern Gold Coast. As a veterinarian, you will play a crucial role in providing high quality veterinary care to our clients’ beloved pets.
Let me try to give you some of that and you can interpret the results as the great clinician you are:
- We are diverse: amongst the 12 of us we speak about 7 languages, we come from 4 different continents, and we can cook foods you've never had before!
- Our cultural diversity is key to our diversity of thoughts: do you have a better way to handle a stressful cat? Tell me all about it.
- We love feedback: our protocols are developed, written and implemented by the people involved in the work.
- We value different opinions: I like to do my dentals on lateral recumbency, how do you do yours?
- We value mental fitness: I like to drive to work listening to classical music and I do consider having a punch bag at work for the moments we just need to let everything out!
- Education is key: we always go over our budget for training. Well, those conferences are expensive and there’s so much we want to do!
- Emotional intelligence is a priority: we are part of Lincoln Institute, and we talk about growth and development
- We listen to you: meetings are about preventing and solving problems, we are focused on what is best for the team and the patient
- Our clients are part of your team: we cultivate a positive relationship with them and strengthen that bond to provide the best care for their pet
- We plan ahead: we organise the appointment list to make the day more predictable. A 30 minute consult actually takes 30 minutes.
- Success is a collection of everyone’s effort: we share and celebrate everyone’s achievements
- We normalise failure: have you ever had a Spey go wrong?
- Sharing is caring: we share our best cooking recipes and also the workload of the three emergencies that show up before you even arrive in the morning!
- We spread the load: nurses are more than keen to get most of the job done so you can focus on your medical and surgical skills
If you are still in doubt, you can check out why we were awarded the Best Led Veterinary Practice in Australasia in 2023. No, we didn’t pay a cent to win this award, the award is based on an anonymous survey where our team members evaluate our leadership team. Here’s a link to our story: https://www.vetpracticemag.com.au/frontrunner-dr-anna-abdalas-my-kind-of-vet-clinic/
Ok now you want to know what we offer, because you have bills to pay, we know what that feels like!
- $80- $110k plus Super
- New to the vet life? We’ll give you support to get most of it right and the space to make mistakes. Tell me what support looks like for you.
- Your rights and entitlements as per award (it does include your scheduled lunch time, I know it’s a basic thing but it’s still a hot topic nowadays)
- The opportunity to develop your skills: did I mention we love diversity?
- The equipment you need to perform your job
- Recognition of your strengths and awareness of your weakness, together we can help each other thrive
