We are looking for a team player with excellent communication skills to take on a position as a Veterinary Nurse and Receptionist within our clinic.
The successful applicant will have:
- A Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working within a clinic.
- A keen and positive “can-do” attitude.
- Great Organisational and Time Management skills.
- Availability to work a rotating roster Monday to Friday including some weekend shifts (No Public Holiday shifts required).

Your Role in the team

THE ROLE:
- Deliver exceptional customer service whilst maintaining a functioning busy reception area, including answering multi-line phones, client education, invoicing, checking in/out clients, obtaining patient history, preparing consult rooms, making appointments, preparing for euthanasia, providing information about all retail products, whilst maintaining compassion and professionalism during high-stress situations.
- Deliver empathetic customer service whilst having the ability to deal with sometimes grief-stricken clients regarding their options and assist them in making decisions during difficult times.
- Knowledge of common diseases, symptoms, modes of transmission and knowledge of small animal medicines (including birds & guinea pigs).
- Superior ability to deal with emergencies and triage, in referring clients for immediate treatment of their animals accompanied by complaints of acute symptoms with a quick command to determine the nature of injury/illness and attempt to reassure distressed pet owners.
- Sound understanding of and commitment to EEO, WHS & OHS principles/practices.
- Complete general veterinary administrative services, including processing Vet Pay, hospital invoices, statements, emails, client orders, pathology, collection of overdue accounts, sympathy cards, and ensuring all appointment paperwork is completed, uploaded, and stored correctly.
- Perform end-of-day procedures, including reconciling invoices and balancing the cash drawer, running end-of-day reports, and closing the clinic for the night.
ABOUT YOU:
- Minimum of 2 years of face-to-face customer service experience, working in a veterinary environment (Essential).
- Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing (Favourable).
- Utilising superior empathy and interpersonal abilities, forging trusting and enduring relationships with clients to maximise retention and satisfaction.
- Sound knowledge of standard veterinary terms, medications, treatments, OTC preventatives and surgeries.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with a critical capability to multi-task and perform well under pressure to manage changing priorities effectively.
- Work autonomously with limited supervision with a high degree of critical thinking & problem-solving skills, a compassionate nature, positive attitude, excellent communication, teamwork skills, reliability, and punctuality.
- Excellent IT skills, with the ability to learn how to use new systems in a timely manner.
