Malvern Veterinary Hospital, Armadale, Inner South-East Melbourne (posted 13th February)

malvern vet logo

Are you our next superstar Veterinary Nurse?

Malvern Vet Hospital is searching for a Full-time Veterinary Nurse to join the team and grow with them.

Have you ever sat down and really thought to yourself ‘Why do I do what I do?’. Whilst writing this job advertisement I did just that and was pleasantly reminded of my personal purpose and why I come to work each day.

My mum was brought up in a small apartment in Paris, no space for her and her siblings let alone any pets. So when she grew up, she made countryside England her new home. She adopted all the pets she wished for and dreamt of as a child. My childhood was filled with an abundance of unconditional love and support from the pets we had, my cuddle buddies when I was feeling down. My pets positively impacted my life growing up and I wanted to repay my gratitude by caring for other people's cuddle buddies so that they were around to help through any hardship and share in their joy.

I have worked at Malvern Vet Hospital since 2008. I started as a trainee Vet nurse and am now the Practice Manager. There are many others who have worked here even longer than me, 1988 being the winner! Some have even returned after leaving. We have a supportive and caring management team who will listen to you and have your back. Staff turn over is low because we treat each other with kindness and respect and people enjoy working here. It also helps that we are paid higher than the award wages! Let's be honest, they are ridiculously low for what qualifications we bring to the team!

Malvern Vet Hospital is an independently owned and operated hospital. We strive to provide all our patients with gold standards of care. We are a progressive and well equipped Hospital: digital radiology, ultrasonography, endoscopy, in-house pathology machines to name a few. We are also able to provide our clients with fabulous cat boarding and dog grooming services.

Our philosophy is to be compassionate to our clients, patients and each other. To be patient advocates and offer the best possible care. To be respectful to one another, with a really supportive team. To be outstanding in everything we do (we’ve been an ASAVA accredited hospital of Excellence since 1981). We are constantly re-evaluating and improving out systems and are open to new ideas.

We are looking for a full time experienced vet nurse (part time considered) who would like to be a part of a large busy hospital, with an amazing friendly and supportive team, where you are encouraged to grow your skills, and with the potential to move up the ladder when the time is right. We are looking for someone who takes pride in a job that is meaningful, and thrives on making a difference. Some Saturday work will be required and is negotiable.

We are extremely accessible to public transport, with Malvern train station and tram stops a hop skip and a jump away. We are located in an affluent area with clientele who want the best for their fur babies. We are lucky enough to be able to provide patients with the kind of work ups and patient care we all want to practice.

If you are a like-minded experienced veterinary nurse who shares in our philosophies and ready to work in a busy, energetic hospital with a fun and supportive team email us as your cover letter and resume to: management@malvernvet.com.au

Veterinary Nurse - Full Time or Part Time

Hello nurses!

We are in search of fun, easy going nurses looking for full or part time positions. To gel with this team a sense of humour is a must! We need someone who can hit the ground running so we are looking for applications from experienced nurses only.

We are located in Lara, on the Melbourne side of Geelong. Our full time nurses work a 4-day week (38 hours) with a consistent scheduled RDO every week. We are not open on weekends or public holidays and work minimal overtime. Yes, that's right! an actual work life balance.

We are a growing small animal practice consisting of 9 nurses, 1 receptionist and 3 Veterinarians. We work hard but understand and value the importance of an excellent work environment. We make sure every day to take the time to have a laugh, crack a joke and if needed have a good vent about a particular case.

We see mainly cats and dogs with a nice mix of small animals including reptiles (but don't be surprised to see the odd kangaroo, koala, eagle or other unusual creatures as Dr. Laura has a keen interest in our beautiful native wildlife and quirky critters). Our clinic pet is Gucci the freshwater crocodile on display in reception. Don't stress though, you are not meant to know the vital signs of a koala or kangaroo… all that training will be provided if you're keen to learn. Not so keen – no stress, we have plenty of nurses who are keen to take the lead on these patients.

We have a modern purpose built and already expanding Veterinary clinic on acreage with extensive gardens, large outdoor dog runs and aviaries. When new people walk through our clinic they generally are surprised at how large, new and comprehensive our setup is. We have all the latest gadgets, bells and whistles including digital standard and dental x-ray, in house lab suite, Rx Works, Smartflow, vetS8 – the list goes on. All training will be provided on any equipment that you may not be used too.

We are a little bit different here as we have a mobile aspect to the clinic meaning a veterinarian and Nurse will be available for mobile consultations at home. It gets you out of the clinical environment of a hospital and you get to go cruising around the local suburbs in our specially fitted out Vet 2 Pet ex ambulance.

Contrary to what you may think, we are not just a euthanasia service or a budget clinic – we see a wide range of cases and offer all the usual services including visiting orthopaedic and internal medicine specialists, in-house labs, hospitalisation etc… The only difference is we do more house calls than your average clinic, with an average day on the road including 1-2 euthanasia appointments and a mix of vaccinations, lumps, check-ups and sick pets.

We also know all the best coffee spots/bites to eat in town and "clean" public toilets to use on your travels. If that doesn't sound like you, that's ok. We love it and are happy to fight over days on the road between ourselves.

If this sounds like you and tickles your fancy, email resumes to: laura.a.schram@gmail.com

VetCall, West Footscray, Inner West Melbourne (posted 8th February)

vet call melbourne logo

Are you seeking the freedom to pursue your special interest in Integrative Medicine?

Or do you have a passion for all small creatures- furry, scaled or feathered?

We can’t wait to meet you!

Our independent small animal clinic located in the inner-west of Melbourne was founded in 2005 on the ethos of valuing all pets as members of the family. Originally just a house call service, it has grown to become a fully equipped 5 vet, 10 nurse practice. An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced nurse to join our wonderful team on a part-time basis.

We wanted to create a practice that was as much about the people as the animals. Over the years we have built a lovely and loyal client base who are more than happy to follow our recommendations. They expect and appreciate the elevated level of veterinary services and holistic care that we provide. Our consultations times have been carefully curated to allow sufficient opportunity to discuss diagnostic and care plans.

Our village location allows us to feel a part of the local community and we work in collaboration with our sister practice Well Beings located across the road. Well Beings offers allied health modalities including hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, acupuncture and osteopathy as well as grooming and behaviour training. Our practice makes time to work closely with three Victorian animal charities.

Self-care is important to us, so we ensure all our staff have the time and energy to enjoy life outside of work hours. black rock logo

We are looking for a veterinary nurse for a permanent part-time position located in Bayside Melbourne. I am looking for a person that has some experience but doesn’t have to be fully qualified.

The position would require 2-3 shifts a week. I have 2 nurses going on maternity leave and 1 slowly coming back from maternity leave.

A person who is caring and kind, who loves to cuddle a puppy or kitten but also encourages and cares for the nervous oldies that need encouragement to take a treat.

We are also looking for someone who is willing to work hard, has initiative, works independently and therefore can work as the sole nurse once trained and be confident to do so.

We like our clients to have confidence in their veterinarian and feel that their pet is important to us. This starts with the person at reception or answering the phone. So, someone that communicates well is essential.

At Black Rock Animal Hospital, we can be very busy and therefore it is very important to have someone who works well in a team; we look after each other so we can provide the best care to our patients.

Please email applications to Juliet at drjulietmills@gmail.com.
