TURRAMURRA, SYDNEY'S UPPER NORTH SHORE - SMALL ANIMAL New Position

EXPERIENCED FULL TIME OR PART TIME VET POSITION

Are you tired of working in a practice where there are back-to-back 15-minute consultations with no time to breathe?
Our primary consultations are 30-minutes each.

Are you exhausted from being over-booked and over-worked?
Our practice is staffed appropriately for our clients’ needs to prevent employee burn-out. We provide consult-free time and pre-entered urgent appointment blocks to prevent vets being double-booked.

Are you reluctant to work for a corporate-owned practice?
We are independently-owned.

Do you find it hard to find a nurse when you are in need of assistance?
We have a dedicated customer care team which allows our nursing team to nurse and support our vets rather than getting tied up on the phone. This allows nurses to assist vets when needed in consult to ensure practice efficiency.

Are you sick of submitting pet insurance forms?
Our customer care team submits all insurance paperwork so vets do not have to.

Are you wanting to be a part of a ‘can do’ team with a ‘how can we help’ attitude?
Our team works collaboratively and has regular vet meetings every 4 weeks.

Do you find you have insufficient time to get through your work?
Task delegation is our middle name. We have sufficient nursing staff to ensure that vets are not doing unnecessary tasks that our advanced nursing team are trained to do, such as blood collection, cytology sample preparation, IV catheter placements and dental scale and polish procedures.

Do you want to work somewhere with dedicated clients willing to pursue a proper diagnostic investigation?
The majority of our clients are dedicated to their pets and willing to proceed with the diagnostics and treatment you recommend. Many have pet insurance.

Do you want to extend yourself as a veterinarian?
We are the only ASAV-accredited Hospital of Excellence on the Upper North Shore. We have several vets with further qualifications including Masters in Veterinary Studies (Murdoch University), ANZCVS membership in internal medicine, surgery and feline medicine as well as the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Medicine. Be the best vet you can be by surrounding yourself with high quality, knowledgeable vets you can discuss your cases with.

Are you looking for a pleasant working environment in a practice that looks after staff well-being?
We believe work should be enjoyed, not endured. Vets who come on board the team have initial induction and training shifts as well as regular check-ins with a senior veterinarian to allow one-on-one coaching and support, where you can provide your feedback as well as hearing ours.

Do you want to work in a practice where you have a say in how the practice is run?
Our management team have undergone leadership training with the Lincoln Institute and have achieved Employer of Choice Accreditation. We believe in a collaborative approach when designing practice policies.

Are you interested in addressing pet behaviour challenges but don’t have the time to do so?
Our vet teams closely with our dedicated pet behaviour consultant, who provides training and environmental modification recommendations for behaviour challenges such as separation anxiety, noise phobia, pulling on the leash and toilet training through positive training techniques, referring back to the veterinarian when required.

Do you want to work on the same street as one of Sydney’s best bakeries and great coffee?
We are located on a small shopping strip with the Flour Shop Bakery just a couple of doors up with delicious offerings and Champ & Chief Café known for its award-winning coffee.

DRUMMOYNE, INNER WEST SYDNEY - SMALL ANIMAL
drummoyne logo

Drummoyne Veterinary Hospital is growing and we need an experienced veterinarian to join the team.

We have great clients, and a team of competent, cheery and helpful nurses. Our receptionists handle most of the phone calls and paperwork – you just do your vet stuff. We have very low staff turnover.

You can practice to a high level with all the usual in-house laboratory equipment and digital radiology, and great GA monitoring. We use visiting specialists for ultrasound, cardiology and major orthopaedics but if you possess these skills, we can invest in new equipment. We allow 30 minutes for most appointments so you can focus on the total health of the patient and communicate with the client.

We’re small enough that you get to know the clients and team, but big enough to provide you with lots of interesting cases.

Our building is bright and spacious and we’ve just expanded into the shop next door which opens up new work-spaces and a fantastic cat-boarding facility. Our old cat boarding room is being repurposed for a dedicated euthanasia room. Our staff tea room faces northwest with big windows so is bathed in sunshine.

SYDNEY INNER WEST - SMALL ANIMALS New Graduates welcome visa sponsorship

Southern Cross Veterinary Clinic – St Peters

Southern Cross Vet has positioned itself to be an “employer-of-choice” through flexible working conditions and attractive bonuses — not just salary increases. “Salary increases are great but a ‘lazy option’ in my opinion,” Sam Kovac tells SmartCompany. Instead, Southern Cross Vet offers a free team lunch every Wednesday, the opportunity to bring pets to work every day, and business class fares to Europe. “The business and first class tickets are available to be ‘unlocked’ by all staff after 6 months of tenure with Southern Cross Vet. An additional week of paid leave is given for all those who unlock this benefit,” Sam Kovac explains. And for those who don’t want to travel internationally — such as those with young children — Southern Cross Vet also offers an alternative, including long weekends away at five star resorts in Australia.

Some perks of joining our family include:

In order to be extra supportive, the management also provides weekend getaways and certain RAOK – “Random Acts of Kindness”. Last year, we went on a Christmas Boat Party!

About our Team and Culture

Our team is comprised of a bunch of highly enthusiastic and bright individuals. They readily challenge the traditional processes, take risks, and do what is right for the pet and pet owners – whether medically or surgically. They adapt quickly and work well in a fast-paced environment. Above all, they have a deep passion and love for animals, and enjoy spending time and taking care of them.

At Southern Cross Veterinary Clinic, we believe in providing you a nurturing environment and providing you the best opportunity to grow and develop in this role as well as in your career. In addition to the perks and benefits, we are also a VISA Approved employer, who are willing to help overseas vets achieve Permanent Residency in Australia through sponsorship.

We have an online presence like no other! Our presence on social media and our website gives us the ability to reach thousands of people on a weekly basis. This also provides you the opportunity to raise your profile if you wish to do so. Our unparalleled digital presence could add immeasurable value to your career, and you give digital relevance as well!

We are looking for a full or part time vet to join our team. Your enthusiasm, compassion, good sense of humour and love of what you do will make you fit in perfectly with our friendly and dedicated team. We have clinics in three of the liveliest locations in Sydney – St Peters, Surry Hills and Bellevue Hill.

The role is open to experienced candidates or recent graduates with a good easygoing disposition.

About Us:

Southern Cross Veterinary Clinic is a family-owned practice with fantastic clients, a majority of whom are insured. We pride ourselves in offering the best medical care available and in practicing Gold Standard medicine.

We are striving towards achieving the ASAVA Hospital of Excellence accreditation this year.
We offer some of the best technology and facilities comparable to most modern hospitals.

Just like most modern Veterinary Clinics we offer access to Ultrasound, CT scans, Digital X-ray and all the latest technology including Ligasure and Cayman surgical hand-pieces, supported by a remarkable, well-trained team of nurses. Our highly trained nurses are well equipped to perform clinical duties; freeing up time for our Doctors to focus on what they do best.

With all 3 clinics being in prime locations and well equipped for surgery, we rarely need to refer. We have contracted surgeons who perform our TTOs, MPLs and other orthopaedic surgeries as required – all inhouse. Additionally, our strong commitment to Laparoscopic Desexing and minimally invasive surgery not only ensures quicker recovery time for pets, but also means you’ll never need to spay a “fat” lab in heat again.

About the Role:

At Southern Cross Vet, we strongly support individual growth by giving you every opportunity to advance in your field of interest. We encourage you to constantly advance yourself through study and seminars; all part of a generous CPD allowance.

Salary:

Experienced Candidates – Salary range between $100,000 and $120,000 per annum (plus superannuation), along with a discretionary scheme through which candidates may earn up to $160,000 per year.

New Graduates – A competitive salary, continued education, mentorship, and ongoing training will see you transition from a “newby” into an accomplished and confident all-rounder in the vet industry.

A full-time role would require you to work 38 hours per week and would include some weekend work

We have very little after hours work, which means you are able to maintain a Healthy Work Life Balance, leaving you plenty of time to spend with your loved ones & pursue your personal hobbies.

Project HoPe

At Southern Cross Vet Clinic, we also have our own charity called Project HoPe which looks after the medical and surgical needs of the companions of the homeless, ensuring that no pet gets refused treatment and care because of lack of funds. We expect the successful applicant to not only possess the required skills, but also the desire in their hearts to save the lives of the pets of Sydney’s least fortunate – those that lead a rough life on the streets.

The bonds between the homeless and their companions are pure and deep. Their four-legged companions are often what keep them going – keep them away from drugs, keep them wanting to wake up another day. We help them because we can.

Being an equal opportunity employer, we invite people from all backgrounds to apply.
To apply for this fantastic opportunity, please email your cover letter and CV to Sam at samkov@gmail.com and cc Nicola nicola@southerncrossvet.com.au
