ST PETERS, INNER WEST SYDNEY - FULL OR PART TIME SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

Southern Cross Veterinary Clinic – St Peters

Southern Cross Vet has propositioned itself to be an “employer-of-choice” through flexible working conditions and attractive bonuses — not just salary increases. “Salary increases are great but a ‘lazy option’ in my opinion,” Sam Kovac tells SmartCompany. Instead, Southern Cross Vet offers a free team lunch every Wednesday, the opportunity to bring pets to work every day, and business class fares to Europe. “The business and first class tickets are available to be ‘unlocked’ by all staff after 6 months of tenure with Southern Cross Vet. An additional week of paid leave is given for all those who unlock this benefit,” Sam Kovac explains. And for those who don’t want to travel internationally — such as those with young children — Southern Cross Vet also offers an alternative, including long weekends away at five star resorts in Australia.

Some perks of joining our family include:

In order to be extra supportive, the management also provides weekend getaways and certain RAOK – “Random Acts of Kindness”. Last year, we went on a Christmas Boat Party!

About our Team and Culture

Our team is comprised of a bunch of highly enthusiastic and bright individuals. They readily challenge the traditional processes, take risks, and do what is right for the pet and pet owners – whether medically or surgically. They adapt quickly and work well in a fast-paced environment. Above all, they have a deep passion and love for animals, and enjoy spending time and taking care of them.

At Southern Cross Veterinary Clinic, we believe in providing you a nurturing environment and providing you the best opportunity to grow and develop in this role as well as in your career. In addition to the perks and benefits, we are also a VISA Approved employer, who are willing to help overseas vets achieve Permanent Residency in Australia through sponsorship.

We are looking for a full or part time vet to join our team. Your enthusiasm, compassion, good sense of humour and love of what you do will make you fit in perfectly with our friendly and dedicated team. We have clinics in three of the liveliest locations in Sydney – St Peters, Surry Hills and Bellevue Hill.

The role is open to experienced candidates or recent graduates with a good easygoing disposition.

About Us:

Southern Cross Veterinary Clinic is a family-owned practice with fantastic clients, a majority of whom are insured. We pride ourselves in offering the best medical care available and in practicing Gold Standard medicine.

We are striving towards achieving the ASAVA Hospital of Excellence accreditation this year.
We offer some of the best technology and facilities comparable to most modern hospitals.

Just like most modern Veterinary Clinics we offer access to Ultrasound, CT scans, Digital X-ray and all the latest technology including Ligasure and Cayman surgical hand-pieces, supported by a remarkable, well-trained team of nurses. Our highly trained nurses are well equipped to perform clinical duties; freeing up time for our Doctors to focus on what they do best.

Please click here to see photos! photos

With all 3 clinics being in prime locations and well equipped for surgery, we rarely need to refer. We have contracted surgeons who perform our TTOs, MPLs and other orthopaedic surgeries as required – all inhouse. Additionally, our strong commitment to Laparoscopic Desexing and minimally invasive surgery not only ensures quicker recovery time for pets, but also means you’ll never need to spay a “fat” lab in heat again.

About the Role:

At Southern Cross Vet, we strongly support individual growth by giving you every opportunity to advance in your field of interest. We encourage you to constantly advance yourself through study and seminars; all part of a generous CPD allowance.

Salary:

Experienced Candidates – Salary range between $100,000 and $140,000 per annum (plus superannuation), along with a discretionary scheme through which candidates may earn up to $160,000 per year.

A full-time role would require you to work 38 hours per week and would include some weekend work – usually 1 in 4 weekends. For those seeking a part time role, your salary would be calculated on a pro-rata basis.

We have very little after hours work, which means you are able to maintain a Healthy Work Life Balance, leaving you plenty of time to spend with your loved ones & pursue your personal hobbies.

Project HoPe

At Southern Cross Vet Clinic, we also have our own charity called Project HoPe which looks after the medical and surgical needs of the companions of the homeless, ensuring that no pet gets refused treatment and care because of lack of funds. We expect the successful applicant to not only possess the required skills, but also the desire in their hearts to save the lives of the pets of Sydney’s least fortunate – those that lead a rough life on the streets.

The bonds between the homeless and their companions are pure and deep. Their four-legged companions are often what keep them going – keep them away from drugs, keep them wanting to wake up another day. We help them because we can.

Being an equal opportunity employer, we invite people from all backgrounds to apply.
To apply for this fantastic opportunity, please email your cover letter and CV to Sam at samkov@gmail.com and cc Nicola nicola@southerncrossvet.com.au

WEST PENNANT HILLS, HILLS DISTRICT - SMALL ANIMAL

Part time or Casual Veterinary Associate Required

West Pennant Hills Vet is a long-established small animal clinic in the Hills District of North West Sydney. We are a 3 vet equivalent practice that is looking to add another vet to our experienced roster. We believe being a good veterinarian is an important part of your life but we want you to have a life outside of work. We have clients who allow thorough workup of cases so you can be challenged. However, the roster and day is structured so you won’t go home exhausted and stressed. We work together to manage difficult cases and where necessary use the services of mobile specialists or referral centres.

The practice has been established for over 40 years and we promote a supportive and friendly working environment. We have a team of 8 vets, 5 nurses, 3 animal attendants and one receptionist. Most of the staff have been with the practice for more than 5 years which affirms that we are a rewarding and enjoyable place to work. One of our previous veterinarians Beth Gillis, who started as a new graduate, gave the following feedback –

“I worked at WPH Vet as a new graduate vet for nearly 2 years. 6 years, 2 other full-time clinics and many locum positions later, WPHV is still by far the best place I have worked! The staff are extremely supportive, its warm and welcoming, they practice great quality medicine and it’s very well run. If I still lived in Sydney, I would be applying for this job immediately”

We are a small animal clinic that is well equipped with CR radiology, dental radiology, iM3 dental equipment, ultrasound, in house pathology, NIBP monitoring, tonovet and electrocautery. The practice is open 7 days and the consulting hours are 9-12pm and 4-7pm on weekdays, 9-12pm on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Please click here to see photos! photos

The position has arisen as one of our team is transitioning to retirement and the increasing workload requires an extra pair of skilled and experienced hands. The hours of employment are flexible but would be expected to be between 15 and 30 hours per week. Weekend shifts would be shared one in three. There are no after-hours. The base hourly rate would be in the range of $38-48 depending on experience. Continuing education is encouraged and the practice will invest in developing any relevant areas of veterinary interest.

BONDI, EASTERN SUBURBS - SMALL ANIMAL

FULL OR PART TIME SENIOR VET

Bondi Vet is looking for another vet to join our team.

So, what’s the deal?

Don’t love surgery? We can make this a primarily consulting role, if that suits. Or, if you’re a rockstar at dentistry or surgery we can work your roster around what you love to do. We don’t expect you to love or be good at everything. So, choose your own adventure when it comes to the things you’d like to do, and we can make that happen.

Flexible roster. Choose between part or full time, five short days or 4 longer ones. Whatever it is, we’ll make it work for the right person.

Great pay. $130-$150k pa + all the usual benefits (super, study leave etc) - how much depends on what you bring to the table.

We’d love it if you bring something special to the hospital. That could be amazing surgical ability or something as simple as being an expert with the endoscope or even just having great communication skills with a warm personality.

Would suit someone with memberships or post grad quals of some sort, but it isn’t essential. Just a cut above the rest in something! You might just be great with clients and that will do us. All our vets are a little bit extra and we love having each other to learn off.

We are open 8am to 7pm Monday through Friday. Our full time vets usually do 4 days per week plus rotating Saturday (8.30-2) and Sunday (9-1) - usually every fourth weekend.

Part time hours we fit around to suit family and other commitments and can make it just a couple of days a week if that suits you better. We don’t do any after hours as we have a great emergency clinic nearby.

We are a high caseload clinic but we take our time so we can give each patient the time and care they need. Consults go from 30-45 minutes (we like to talk) and we like to be thorough.

We put pets first. We are lucky enough to have an 80% insured clientele in a higher socioeconomic area. People around Bondi LOVE their pets (and we know most of them). This means we get to practice great medicine. We really believe that every pet matters and we go above and beyond for our little patients. More importantly, we look after each other and have each other’s back.

Who we are

If this sounds like something you’d like to be involved in, get in touch. drkate@bondivets.com.au.

If you’d prefer to phone the practice it’s 02 9130 2001 and ask for Dr Kate Adams.
