Wauchope is a thriving hinterland country town nestled between Bago Mountain and the Hastings River on the NSW Mid North Coast.
Once known as the ‘Timber Town’ due to its 19th Century timber origins, the modern town boasts rural charm with its boutique shops and cafes that seem to have been brought straight from the streets of Melbourne, offering an impressive range of delicious coffee and artisan baked goods.
Surrounded by National Parks and State Forests, Wauchope is an adventure lover’s dream! Explore the many beautiful waterfalls, hike through gorgeous rainforest trails, or check out the local camping spots for a weekend of fun. There are many local farms that offer tours, farm gate produce stalls, and even the chance to pick your own berries straight from the source.
Wauchope is also known as a motorbike riders paradise - there are many windy country roads to explore on your way to Walcha, Byabarra or Comboyne, riding through National Parks, forests, and local farmlands. There is also the annual Wauchope Motofest held each September for motorbike enthusiasts.
For those looking for a different scene, check out all the local wineries with cellar door tastings, delicious food, and even a huge maze to wander through at Bago Vineyard.
The coastal town of Port Macquarie is just 20 minutes away for those looking for some of the country’s most picturesque beaches and coastal walks to explore.
