Cairns is considered the gateway to Tropical North Queensland and can be reached by both domestic and international flights.  At your doorstep, you’ll find the Great Barrier Reef and Wet Tropics World Heritage Rainforest. You'll find brilliant cafés, bustling markets and plenty of beaches nearby. Take a day trip on the Kuranda Scenic Railway which runs from Cairns, over the Great Dividing Range to the town of Kuranda on the Atherton Tableland. Or you can take it easy and relax on the beautiful surrounding beaches.
