Cobden is located 208 kilometres southwest of Melbourne, and is central to the countryside's rich farming land and well-known attractions.
Today Cobden and its surrounding area claim to be the "Dairy Capital" of the world, a claim based on the over 140,000 head of cattle in and around the area.
Cobden is the home of Western Star Butter an iconic Australian brand that has been made with the same fresh local ingredients for 100 years. The town is surrounded by the rolling hills and volcanic lakes that commence just north of the coast, located just 30 minutes north of the Great Ocean Road and 2.5 hours from Melbourne via the Princes Hwy Cobden is an ideal base for a Great Ocean Road adventure.
Cobden enjoys a rich soil as its convenient location on the southern border of the Lakes and Craters Country, the fourth largest volcanic plain in the world. Though the volcanoes are dormant, the ash they once spewed has enriched the soil greatly.
