Gracemere is located nine kilometres west of Rockhampton, the Beef Capital of Australia. The town is home to the largest saleyards in the Southern Hemisphere and is the heart of the Capricorn cattle industry.
Rockhampton is located some 600km north of Brisbane, on the Tropic of Capricorn and is the gateway to the Southern Great Barrier Reef.
Rockhampton experiences over 300 days of sunshine each year, which lends itself to an abundance of outdoor activities. Popular attractions include Riverbank Parklands, on the banks of Fitzroy River, the Capricorn Coast and Great Keppel Island, a large neighbouring island off the Capricorn Coast, the vast majority of which is national park.
Rockhampton hosts a significant number of governmental, community and major business administrative offices for the central part of the state.
