Yarrawonga is located at the south-western corner of Lake Mulwala where the lake passes through the Yarrawonga Weir and flows into the Murray River. These two bodies of water form part of the state boundary with New South Wales. Lake Mulwala is a popular location for boating, kayaking, waterskiing and fishing. This area is a renowned holiday destination, with a twin town Mulwala across the other side of the lake and border in NSW. As well as tourism, agriculture is Yarrawongas main industry, producing dairy products as well as a variety of grains. It is 264 km north-east of Melbourne.
