Charnwood is a suburb in the Belconnen district of Canberra.

Belconnen has a university, the University of Canberra, a campus of the Canberra Institute of Technology, the Australian Institute of Sport, Canberra Stadium (home of the Canberra Raiders-RL, ARL premiers 1989, 1990 and 1994 and ACT Brumbies-RU, premiers Super 12 in 2001 and 2004!!!). Bruce Indoor Stadium and a major public hospital (Calvary).

The centre of Belconnen is Lake Ginninderra, which has on its southern shore the Belconnen mall and a number of other retail premises.
