VET NURSE/TECHNICIAN – Full Time/Part Time
About Us
Manly Road 24hr Veterinary Hospital (MRVH) is seeking Veterinary Nurses/Technicians interested in expanding their nursing skills through exposure to a wide variety of cases and mentorship from peers who are outstanding in their field. These roles would suit either experienced nurses or recent graduates who are confident in their general skills and looking to move forward in their careers.
As one of the largest 24 hour hospitals in Queensland, MRVH is able to offer flexible rostering options to their nurses in a range of disciplines including consulting, surgery, medicine, emergency care, dentals, ophthalmology, equine, ultrasound and orthopedics.
Day nurses typically work up to 4 x 9.5 hours shifts per week on a rotating 7 day roster with the first shifts starting at 6am and the last ones finishing at 10.30pm.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting veterinarians in ER consultations, examinations, surgeries and other medical procedures (including x-ray, ultrasounds).
- Triaging emergency patients and wildlife as required.
- Conducting TPRs and maintaining accurate medical records.
- Administering medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
- Monitoring and documenting patient vital signs during procedures and recovery.
- Experience with surgical preparation, anaesthesia monitoring and post-operative care.
- Place IV catheters and blood collection for surgical, hospital and ER patients.
- Performing laboratory tests, including bloodwork, urinalysis, faecal examinations and progesterone testing.
- Educating and providing guidance to clients on pet care and treatments.
Ideal Candidates:
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and/or Bachelor of Applied Science (Veterinary Technology) or equivalent.
- Willing to be flexible with rosters.
- Proficiency in animal handling and restraint techniques.
- Excellent communications skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Great customer service skills.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
