Are you a passionate, skilled and experienced Vet Nurse who loves what you do? We’re looking for a Full-time Senior Vet Nurse to join our talented and dynamic team at Illawarra Animal Hospital Figtree and Yallah.
Illawarra Animal Hospital Veterinary Hospitals are in Wollongong on the South Coast of NSW. We are a team of experienced vets and committed nursing & support team. In addition to being a fantastic general practice hospital, the IAH team also has special interests and strong competency in orthopaedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, medicine, rehabilitation, and advanced diagnostic imaging. What We’re Looking For:
- Holds certificate IV in Vet Nursing or equivalent qualification.
- 2+ years Vet Nurse experience.
- Strong experience in nursing and handling a variety of cases.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay calm under pressure.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- A positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
- A genuine passion for animal care and a commitment to providing the best service to our clients and their pets.
About The Role
- Working directly with specialists and the rest of the team of veterinarians to ensure that the patient, client, clinicians, team, and service are all attended to and working in sync.
- Provide nursing support to patients which may include but not be limited to: Placing IV Catheters,
- Perform diagnostic tests (including taking radiographs), anaesthetic and monitoring of patients, pre and post operative care of patients.
- Liaise with the team of veterinarians/ specialists to ensure that clients are receiving regular and appropriate communication.
- Work with the team to ensure patients care.
- Keeping clients informed and happy by providing advice, answering questions, and soothing their fears.
- Mentor and support team members that may have less experience
- Prioritise daily tasks, surgeries and treatments to ensure smooth running and efficient operation of the Hospital
- Assist in the management of client engagement & communication, including efficiently manage daily consults by commencing client consult prior to vet’s arrival in consult, manage admits/discharges when required, educate clients on post treatment/surgery instructions, follow up on results and/or follow up on patient progress; and
- Leads by example with commitment to quality medicine and compassionate patient care, providing direction to other staff to help them
