Part-Time Veterinary Nurse (Maternity Contract)

We are currently a small animal practice with two experienced, supportive vets and one new graduate vet who actively help develop our teams’ clinical skills.

Our nurses play a vital role in patient and client care, assisting with team consulting with veterinarians, nurse consults, anaesthesia monitoring, collection and processing of pathology samples, and more. All nurses rotate through consult, surgery and float/hospital shifts, with minimal reception work thanks to our dedicated receptionist. While we don’t consult out of hours, we will stay to see critical emergencies (eg. snake bite patients in the summer), and nurses are compensated for this time! We also occasionally perform overnight checks and treatments on hospitalised patients and are similarly compensated for these duties (which are voluntary!).

We are on the lookout for our next SUPER-STAR veterinary nurse to join our team on a part-time basis! This is a 7-month maternity contract starting from 16th July 2025, with the possibility of extension.

The ideal candidate will:

Be Certificate IV (or above) qualified and have at least 2-3 years’ experience
Be available to work 30 hours per week and one in six Saturdays.
Have excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence and resilience
Have a strong desire to engage in ongoing CPD
Have strong triage skills, being able to analyse situations and prioritise tasks appropriately and pay attention to detail
Be Fear Free certified or experience practicing low-stress handling techniques
Work well unsupervised and as part of a team
