Ballantrae Drive Veterinary Clinic in St Andrews is looking for a fully qualified, experienced certificate 4 vet nurse, either full time or part time, a dynamic, enthusiastic and hard working individual who can work independently, and largely unsupervised, who has a deep attention to detail and is courteous and respectful towards both clients and patients.
This is a small clinic with 1.5 vets and we need an experienced and confident nurse who can “run the clinic by herself”, be able to confidently deal with all our clients and patients and have the clinical skills, initiative and common sense to solve daily issues as they arise and can take administrative decisions in conjunction with the vet on duty.

We offer a friendly, professional environment with a high standard of care; our clinic uses Cornerstone software, Idexx machines, Procyte and Catalyst One, and state of the art anaesthetic monitoring system with tube warming equipment and Biolight capnography.
Primary responsibilities include:
- General nursing care including pre and postoperative care, monitoring anaesthesia, surgical preparation
- Maintain overall practice hygiene including surgery and equipment
- Hospital admission and discharge
- Confidence in reception with sound knowledge of animal products and ability to communicate effectively
- In clinic pathology
- Taking xrays
- Placing catheters, collecting blood samples, bandaging
Person we are looking for should:
- Be able to work largely unsupervised but to equally work as part of a team and support other staff
- Have initiative and be organised and efficient with an attention to detail
- Have a genuine passion for animal care and customer service.
- Possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills and a genuine, compassionate interest in people and their pets
- Be honest, flexible and reliable
